Jan 27, 2010I jusr noticed this, when i hold the phone horizontal my 3g signal goes to crap. Is this normal?

Android :: Turning Keyboard To Horizontal While Holding Phone Vertical
Aug 11, 2010Is is possible for me to have a keypad style keyboard when I hold the phone vertical and then switch to the qwerty keyboard when I turn it to the horizontal? If so, how do I do it? I just find that the qwerty is a bit too small for my fingers when it's squashed up in portrait mode.

May 18, 2010Within the last week I have been experiencing some problems with my Incredible. First it started not showing on the screen what I was typing when holding the phone horizontal. If I had it in the vertical position it would show the typed message. Took to Verizon while I was out of town. While the phone was on they took the battery out and then reinstalled. It worked fine. Upon returning home I noticed that the Weather app said my "current" was the town I had visited the weekend before. Tried everything but can't get it to acknowledge my present city. Now I go view my photos that I had taken and there are absollutely none there. I even assigned one to be my screensaver which is still showing as the screensaver however it is not in my Photos/Camera.

Aug 11, 2010I've been having problems with a Milestone, so i decided to give it away and buy a Desire. Overall, the phone is good. But i'm having a major issue that troubles me: Bought the phone yesterday and immediately updated to Froyo. I'm having problems with the antenna (which i believe is in the lower right corner). By just holding my phone with my hand (not touching the antenna) drops my signal significantly. For HDSPA, it goes down from 3 bars to 0 (but i can make calls) and for GSMA it goes from 4 to 3. As i found out through the menus, the drop for HDSPA is around -10dbm and more. I'd like to ask: is this normal; I know that you shouldn't touch the antenna, but on mine bars goes down all the way just by holding the phone.

Nov 23, 2009Is anyone else seeing this behavior?right before I make a voice call the droid will show 4 bars, when I place a voice call it will drop to 0 bars and the voice quality is pretty bad.In the phone settings you can see the DBm signal strengh and before I make a call it will show -96 and when I make a call it will go to -104.I have noticed this even when right on top of a cell tower.You actually don't notice it when the signal is very strong, but on my droid it does appear that the signal degraded significantly when doing a voice call.It also does the same thing when the Wifi is turned on, it's almost like it's switching to another antenna for the voice when wifi is on or you make a call.So far I have not been impressed with the phones voice quaility at all.

Jun 24, 2010I started a thread a while ago about poor wifi performance on my phone (weak signal right next to my laptop that has good signal). Long story short, I discovered that if I'm holding the phone in my palm with fingers wrapped around the sides in usual fashion... my wifi -and cellular signal significantly weaken. Surprisingly, there was no response to this. I began to think maybe this is standard behavior for a smart phone. I mean, when I'm in my office which is the basement, I literally set the phone down or hold it with just two fingers pinching the sides in order to download something on wifi. This 'bulletin' just popped up on Boy Genius Report complaining of this exact same thing happening on the iPhone 4. What gives? Does this happen to other EVOs? Seems to happen on both mine and my wife's so I figured maybe it's just something I have to deal with. But if I have faulty hardware, I'd like to get it taken care of. Nov 3, 2010My new Desire was delivered Monday evening. It is on the 3 network. Have a great signal at home - H.
Took it to work for the first time yesterday and had a great signal in my office too. I'm also getting H there most of the time, occasionally it drops to 3G but only for a few seconds then goes back to H. Internet browsing is fast and smooth.
So far so good then, I went downstairs however and noticed that I had no signal. How can it go from the strongest possible signal upstairs to no signal at all downstairs?

Jan 4, 2010when i turn my phone horizontally the keyboard comes up with no problem, then when i begin to type on it the letters/words do not show up until i turn it back vertically and then i am able to read what i wrote. any ideas why this might be happening...or how to fix it? its a new phone i just got for christmas, and the horizontal keyboard only stopped working a few days ago.

Oct 3, 2010The charger cable is loose in my phone. It's not really a problem unless I'm messing with it while it's charging but it is annoying when it drops out of the phone. No way am I going to exchange it because of this but curious if it's common.

Jun 25, 2010After the OTA and a factory reset my screen dims when I tilt the the phone in camera mode. It's fine when the phone is vertical but when I go to take a horizontal landscape shot it dims the screen to black. It will do the dimming proportionally to the angle the phone is rotated off the vertical axis and front to back (freaky) It will still take the shot but I have no idea how centered I am on the shot. I changed auto dimming to "off " but it still blanks it.

Jul 18, 2010Has anyone else noticed having different signal strengths with different Rom's. I have tried using a bunch of different ones and have noticed that the non-sense Rom's tend to have much weaker signal than the sense Rom's. Any ideas as to why that is? I have never had much of signal in my house, but there seem to be a lot of times that I have no signal (when i used to at least have 1 bar stock) depending on the ROM I'm using at the time.

Jul 4, 2010The back of mine doesn't seem to go on as snugly as it used to. I've swapped the battery a few times since getting mine on launch day. Probably 10 or so times. If i press lightly with my thumb on the center of the bottom part of the back, it makes a squeaky noise and definitely gives. I'm used to backs that are made to come off the phone a bit more easily (blackberry's, moto droid), so I've always found the plastic tabs on the inc kind of suboptimal. I guess that's one of the sacrifices you make for a super slim and light phone. I ordered a new back cover from ebay, hopefully that will give me back that tight-as-a-drum new phone feel.

Sep 15, 2010Received an update on my Eris a few days back for Google Maps (I think that was the application that was targeted). Since then, when I use the Navigator the GPS has had a problem connecting. Sometimes it searches for a GPS signal for almost 30 minutes. Aug 19, 2010For the past two days, I've had no service. I was using xtrROM4 when it first started. So I went back to EvilEris and it worked for a little while, then yesterday stopped working again. So I re-flashed xtrROM4 and it worked all night and this morning. Now it's gone again. Can't make a call, send a text, get online, nothing.
I'm at work, and I never had the 'best' signal, but I'd go by a window and be fine. Now nothing, no matter where I go.

Apr 4, 2013I went to the Verizon Store to find out why my battery was not holding a charge for more than 4 - 5 hours. They checked it out, downloaded a battery saver app and sent me on my way stating my phone was no longer under warranty. Then my phone would not hold any charge, I again went to the Verizon store and was told there was nothing they could do. I went to Battery Warehouse to see if they could change the battery, they could not. So, I decided, since it was out of warranty I would removed the battery myself and see if I could order a new one. Well that was another problem because noone knows how to reinstall a battery once you open the back and take it out. So now I am going to activate my Droid 3 and use it until I update to an Iphone in August.

May 26, 2010No matter where I am I NEVER get more than 2 bars and more often than not, there's only 1 bar! Really? I'm not convinced it is only cosmetic. I seem to get most of my calls, but occasionally they go through to voicemail even though I've got the phone right next to me. It is so frustrating to be in the house with no signal! I always had at least 3 signals in my house.
Has anyone contacted Verizon about this? It is the only thing bothering me from 2.1 upgrade. Other than that I find the phone is truly awesome, but it IS a phone! However, I'm afraid to call Verizon tech people who always seem to go through the basics without any real regard to your issue, and have the screw up the phone with some random setting they want to try.

Feb 19, 2010I have had my Eris for a week or so and am getting concerned about it's reception. I am noticing the bars will fluctuate wildly while sitting at my desk in an area that has great Verizon coverage! I am looking at my Signal Strength and it is flipping from 89 dBm 12 asu to 0 dBm 0 asu without even moving the phone! What is going on?? Do I have a bad device, or is this normal? Mar 21, 2010Couldnt find my answer on the previous topics. But my phone on verizon hardly has full signal. Im running 2.1 on a brand new phone that i bought off a guy from craigslist. It seems my signal is only 1 to 2 bars most of the time, giving me around -86dbm. Sometimes it will be 3 bars, then it drops to one or none. Wondering if this is killing my battery too. Is there some update that fixes this? Or some test to perform if whats happeneing is normal or what?
