HTC EVO 4G :: Trick To Listen To Voicemails Even Faster
Jun 11, 2010
When using Sprint visual voicemail and listening to a voice mail just slide your finger left to right or vice versa to the next screen and it will automatically play the next message continuously. I found this very useful in only listening to snippets of messages and much faster than hitting back and than tapping on a message.

This seems so basic so many I'm missing something, but is it possible to listen to voicemail via a Bluetooth headset? When I'm driving and want to check voicemail, I don't want to have to put the headset to my ear (and in CA, it's illegal to do so) and when Bluetooth is enabled, the speakerphone option is disabled.

I hearing them tell me that they called and left me a voicemail, I decided to call 1 on my phone and lo and behold, I had more than 40 missed voice messages. NONE of which I was notified or had in my visual voicemail. When all is said and done, I haven't received a visual voicemail or a notification of a voicemail since June 30! What is wrong with my phone and how can I fix it?

I've only had my Droid for a week, but I would like to know if anyone knows of a widget that I can use to get my voicemails. I have to do several steps with the notification in the bar. I would like to do just one, and have a bigger visual notification a on my home screen I came over from a Samsung Omnia (WinMo) that had a widget that let me just click and sent me straight to my voicemail box. I also have a friend that has a Samsung Moment that has this feature (I guess cause its 1.5). Now, I haven?t got my invite yet for GV, and I tried to use HulloMail, but it didn?t work for me (kept saying that I had no messages when I did).

Has anyone else noticed that the voicemails on this phone sound TERRIBLE?I just got the phone last night...it pulled in some already existing voicemails and I've gotten two or three new ones since, and they all sound worse than anything I've ever heard on a cell phone. Do I just have a lemon or does anyone else have this issue?

Does anyone know where the voicemails are stored when they download to the phone?I have 2 voicemails from my father a day before he passed away and I forgot about them when I recently wiped the device. Anyone have some advice?I realize they are probably gone forever, but I thought I'd post here in case they get stored somewhere on the SD card.

I'm a Hero owner, and a couple of days ago I noticed I haven't received any voicemail notifications for about 2 or 3 weeks now. When I called my voicemail I had almost 50 messages. Can anybody help me and tell me how I can start receiving voicemail notifications and visual voicemail again without having to call my number?

I'm trying to let Verizon take care of my voice mails rather than Google Voice, but I'm not having any luck.I have gone to: Settings --> Voice mail Service --> and selected My Carrier. As well as setting my number under voice mail number but I still need to dial my Google Voice # then enter my passcode to get my voice mails which is what I want to avoid.

I foolishly installed google voice on my Captivate before listening to all my AT&T voice mails. After I did this I realized that I had a bunch of voice mails on AT&T voice mail, and now I can't figure out how to get to the AT&T voice mails.Any suggestions? Do I need to de-activate google voice on my voice mail then get the AT&T messages, then re-activate the google voice on my voice mail?

So I got my phone wet and there are some water spots inside the screen. I quickly pulled the battery out and dried the phone with a towel+shaking the hell out of it. I then got a container and poured white rice into it and threw my phone and submerged it in the rice. A day had passed and I opened the lid and took out my phone to see how it was doing. Well the water spots are still there but I can see that it's drying up, that's the good news. The bad news is that the rice went inside the small holes where the battery cover locks into the phone. Now every time I shake it, I hear the rice rattling inside my phone. Just a heads up if you ever do the rice drying trick. Either leave the battery cover on or cover up the holes with tape or something.

I don't have my Evo yet so I can't and won't say this works 100% but from what I've read and what people have told me this seems to fix the problem so you won't have to do the GSM/CDMA trick anymore. Many have told me that you have to manually update this by going into -> Menu > Settings > System Updates > Update PRL. Let me know how it works out for you.

I figure at this point everyone that hasn't got root yet need as many tips as possible and will try just about anything, so here is another tip. I've got into ADB 3 times (initial root, remove apps & install WirelessN), and each of them was on my first try after rebooting my computer. I'm using the pny sd card(for me it's the 4gb class 4 but 2gb works great as well), which seems to have been by far the most successful card, also I have SDK installed as my driver. The method I used was pretty standard, no clicking in & out the sd card, I just left it in the whole time, I didn't even use loop.bat. I know it's annoying to restart your computer after each attempt, but it worked for me.

XiiaLive has blocked all AAC+ streams from working on android 2.2 until the whole AAC+ debacle is resolved. I did adrynalyne's new audio fix so I am willing to bet that XiiaLive will now work with the AAC+ streams if they weren't blocked altogether. So can I somehow trick XiiaLive into thinking i am running 2.1 and get my AAC+ streams back?

1. Compose a new message in GMail. (If you are still without a GMail account, request a GMail Invitation code)
2. Attach any PDF or Word document that you want to convert to HTML You can attach multiple files in this step by clicking Attach another File.
3. Enter your own email address in the To: box and click send.
4. You instantly receive a message in your GMail Inbox folder. Open the message and automatically it will view your PDF attachment as HTML.
5. The contents of your attachment appear as HTML in a new browser window without having to download the file. When you're finished reading the attached file, close the new browser window to return to Gmail.

OK, I found a simple trick that has dramatically improved my battery life. Up until yesterday, I thought my battery life was pretty poor. About 4-5 hours of heavy usage, and maybe 8-12 hours of moderate to light use. I had tried all the tricks of turning off radios, turning off updates to services, etc. None seemed to make a huge difference.
Yesterday at work, I did what was becoming my normal practice of recharging before leaving so I would have enough battery to last through the evening. But instead of recharging by plugging into an AC outlet, I recharged via USB to my work computer. When I went to bed last night 9 hours after the USB recharge, I still had 70% battery life left after light to moderate use in the evening. This was by far the best performance I've seen.......

On my old iPhone 3gs, once jailbroken you could install an app called VOIPover3g and trick your phone into thinking it was on wifi even if you were only on 3g so you could overcome the restrictions on certain apps like skype (only lets you make calls over wifi) and youtube (better video quality on wifi)
Well, Vonage just came out with a great app for free domestic calls with GREAT call quality, but it only works over WiFi.
How can we trick the N1 into thinking its on WiFi even if its on 3g?

If you lock the phone by pressing end, the screen goes blank instantly. If you press the end button to bring up the lock screen (do not unlock), and then quickly double click the end button, the screen fades in and out. Phone is still locked, so no real use. Discovered this in a meeting today. I forget what the meeting was about and before someone else says it, yes, this is completely pointless.

I'm a new Evo owner, and Im trying to get my work email on my phone. I had a BB before and didn't have any problems. Is there something special you need to enter in to get this set up? I've been on the phone with our IT person, and I have our server name, domain name, my user name and password, but it will not work. Out IT person also verified everything was set up properly through the server.
Any help would be great. I can log into my work email through the internet but then I need to manually sync to get my contacts and calendar.
