General :: Edit APK With ODEX File?
May 3, 2014I have an apk that I'd like to edit, just some simple icon and xml changes. I have decompiled, edited and signed with apktool so I'm confident everything there is ok. Only problem is, it won't install.
The apk does have a odex file with it. Is it possible to edit this apk or am I wasting my time?

So i think of something like this

Cd /data/data/foldernameofapp/
Edit "file.dat"
Edit line 4 "text here 2"
i want it to edit like this "text here 3"
Change only the number. or replace the hole line with a new line where i only changed the number. btw the best is if the script can change a line and not find text and change. Because the number in the text i want to change can vary from different numbers.
P.S i can use root explorer and open the file with a text editor and change it, this works but takes forever P.S.S i got root

Apr 28, 2012I am running some more tests and decided to take a different path for dual boot (for testing anyway, still gonna give it a go with bmp)... so to make a long story short, how do I edit the .bct file that comes with the nvflash zip??? I can edit the .cfg just fine but when I add my secondary partitions at the end of the line up and before UDB, the g2x doesnt seem to boot, like it just stays at the first lg logo and goes no further. I need access to the file to make it kick over. I think. Ive not been able to find out how to edit the file.. although I've not looked 110% as I usually do..
I am not even sure if I've named them right.. but hte way I see it they are all 3 characters in length.. so ive made the secondaries called APS, CAS, & UDS.. that also maybe my issue. but none the less ive attached a screen cap to show they were made and where they fall in the lineup.

I manage to edit my android's /etc/hosts file. Here's what I did:
1. Create an Android Virtual Device (AVD)
2. Open the AVD with this command

3. Execute the following commands

4. Get the android hosts file

./adb pull /etc/hosts
5. Add my mobile website into the android's hosts file. It looks like the following

127.0.0.1 localhost
172.19.14.46 m.myweb.localhost
6. Push the hosts file to the simulator
Code:
./adb push hosts /etc/hosts
7. Open the web mobile in the simulator and Host do not found. The web mobile should appear.
Btw I use Ubuntu 10.10 and android-sdk_r08-linux_86 API 7 (Android SDK 2.1)

Aug 21, 2012is there anyway to trick cm9/aokp theme chooser to think that my device is hdpi, instead of mdpi, without lcd density changer hack most HDPI themes, if not all(with the exception to lucid) work on mdpi devices yet theme chooser doesn't allow me and will give me a compiler error.
if the above does not work. is there anything i could change in the theme apk, whether its an xml, or image or anything I could change to make theme chooser think that i am using an MDPI theme, even if the theme includes hdpi images? THE "APPLY HDPI THEMES TO MDPI PAGE, LCD DENSITY CHOOSER PAGE.

Jul 15, 2010So I got my phone wet and there are some water spots inside the screen. I quickly pulled the battery out and dried the phone with a towel+shaking the hell out of it. I then got a container and poured white rice into it and threw my phone and submerged it in the rice. A day had passed and I opened the lid and took out my phone to see how it was doing. Well the water spots are still there but I can see that it's drying up, that's the good news. The bad news is that the rice went inside the small holes where the battery cover locks into the phone. Now every time I shake it, I hear the rice rattling inside my phone. Just a heads up if you ever do the rice drying trick. Either leave the battery cover on or cover up the holes with tape or something.

Jun 16, 2010I don't have my Evo yet so I can't and won't say this works 100% but from what I've read and what people have told me this seems to fix the problem so you won't have to do the GSM/CDMA trick anymore. Many have told me that you have to manually update this by going into -> Menu > Settings > System Updates > Update PRL. Let me know how it works out for you.

Jun 22, 2010I figure at this point everyone that hasn't got root yet need as many tips as possible and will try just about anything, so here is another tip. I've got into ADB 3 times (initial root, remove apps & install WirelessN), and each of them was on my first try after rebooting my computer. I'm using the pny sd card(for me it's the 4gb class 4 but 2gb works great as well), which seems to have been by far the most successful card, also I have SDK installed as my driver. The method I used was pretty standard, no clicking in & out the sd card, I just left it in the whole time, I didn't even use loop.bat. I know it's annoying to restart your computer after each attempt, but it worked for me.

Jun 18, 2010OK, I found a simple trick that has dramatically improved my battery life. Up until yesterday, I thought my battery life was pretty poor. About 4-5 hours of heavy usage, and maybe 8-12 hours of moderate to light use. I had tried all the tricks of turning off radios, turning off updates to services, etc. None seemed to make a huge difference.
Yesterday at work, I did what was becoming my normal practice of recharging before leaving so I would have enough battery to last through the evening. But instead of recharging by plugging into an AC outlet, I recharged via USB to my work computer. When I went to bed last night 9 hours after the USB recharge, I still had 70% battery life left after light to moderate use in the evening. This was by far the best performance I've seen.......

If you press the end button to bring up the lock screen (do not unlock), and then quickly double click the end button, the screen fades in and out. Phone is still locked, so no real use.
