Motorola Droid X :: Gameloft Games Troubles On X
Aug 19, 2010I was wondering if anyone was running any Gameloft games on their X? I downloaded Let's Golf and it works on the X fine, except there is no sound.I reinstalled twice and nothing. The sound worked once the first time I installed it in the intro, and then it stopped. Next time I reinstalled it, nothing, no sound. Media volume is up all the way and everything. Anyone have a problem like this?Or anyone have success with other Gameloft games on their X? Besides the sound issue, the game is very fun, and very smooth on the X.

Jul 30, 2010own the Droid X, and also an iPod Touch, and I recently found out that some of my favorite iPod games, such as Hero of Sparta, Sandstorm: Modern Combat, and N.O.V.A. are available for android phones as well, but after many searches in the Android Market, I could not find these? Are they just in the process of being ported over? And I see other people talking about how awesome the games run on Their Droid X.

I had the vibrant with the powervr sgx540 and it wax nice but my wife took over that phone. I have the HTC G2 with the Andreno 205 which is a little slower than the 540 but still good but i want to know how well the droid x with the powervr sgx530 performs in realworld games. im thinking of returning the G2 and going for an X. i need some motivation!

May 11, 2010I have been using Drodmod v1.0 for a while now and kinda bored. I've got it over clocked to 800mhz. Is it possible to make a nondroid backup using driodmod and lets say I want to upgrade to bugless beast rom. I know I can backup my apps using either astro or Titanium Backup utility, but can I take the nondroid backup and mix them into the bugless beast one so once i restore (bugless beast) it will have all of my information and apps already on there???

Jul 17, 2010Sorry if this has already been said, but while I was typing on the keyboard I noticed something cool. If you type a text or sentence and you look back and notice that a word you tried to type got switched to a different word because of a missed key or just because of the predictive text, instead of moving the cursor back and erasing, you can just click on that word. This brings up the original suggestions along with what you actually typed even if you've moved past this word. Maybe the original Droid had this? I came from an HTC Droid Eris.

Aug 24, 2010Maybe this is already out there but I don't recall reading it. Anyway, at the bottom of the screen where the phone, apps and browser icons are, theres little dots on either side. Pushing one side or the other scrolls the screen to that direction but if you push both sides at the same time, icons for all five home screens will pop up and you can pick the one you want to go to instead of scrolling through the pages.

Nov 20, 2009There seems to be lots of discussions on Battery life, so I did a test myself. I was getting about the same battery life as everybody else, about 6-7 hours with moderate usage. Which is what all the beta testers were getting pre release. I thought I would give something a try. First of all, when I picked up the phone it was about 75% charged. I charged it to 100%, and let it go down to about 30% that first day and then charged it. I followed this everyday for the first week, and was still getting the same battery life out of it. I never allowed the device to completely drain and shut off. Well I gave that a shot, and what did I find, My battery is lasting much longer, like doubled. So give this a try. I let the phone die, completely die so it shuts off. Then charge it 100% overnight. Worked for me, don't know if it will work for you, but give it a shot.

You can use one finger to hold the green icon, then you'll notice a little green icon on the other side of the screen (where the sound off icon usually is, it disappears when you hold the unlock icon). If you press the end button to bring up the lock screen (do not unlock), and then quickly double click the end button, the screen fades in and out. Phone is still locked, so no real use. Discovered this in a meeting today. I forget what the meeting was about and before someone else says it, yes, this is completely pointless.

Jul 8, 2010Game loft recently (kind of) released ten (not counting Asphalt 5) high caliber games onto Android, ported form the iPhone versions. These game must be bought from Gameloft's website, where there are no free trials and no refunds. At first, some of the games weren't working right on certain phones. However, I messaged them about this, and they said they have fixed all of the games for all phones. I have been able to get nine of ten to work on my HTC Incredible (more on that later). Since there are no trials, and no refunds, I have decided to review all of the games to help future consumers out. While these versions are iPhone ports, they are still different and have their own sets of features (and glitches), so iPhone specific reviews won't do. These are all played on my Incredible, but I can confirm all (nine not eight) work on my dad's Droid too. Each game costs $5. Click on the games' names to go to the information and download pages.I want to make sure to fully play through a game before reviewing it. I will post reviews as I finish games. These aren't going to be super in depth reviews--just what you need to know. Note: I treat 5/10 as average, not 7/10 like most reviewers. However, these games are of such high quality, you are going to think I am treating 7/10 as average.

Jul 15, 2010So I got my phone wet and there are some water spots inside the screen. I quickly pulled the battery out and dried the phone with a towel+shaking the hell out of it. I then got a container and poured white rice into it and threw my phone and submerged it in the rice. A day had passed and I opened the lid and took out my phone to see how it was doing. Well the water spots are still there but I can see that it's drying up, that's the good news. The bad news is that the rice went inside the small holes where the battery cover locks into the phone. Now every time I shake it, I hear the rice rattling inside my phone. Just a heads up if you ever do the rice drying trick. Either leave the battery cover on or cover up the holes with tape or something.

Nov 27, 2010For reasosns I can't figure out, some of the high end GL games aren't available for the Desire, even though it's a high end phone.I'm thinking of Modern Combat Sandstorm, NOVA, Assasins Creed.I know some people with the Desire have these, and I'd LOVE to know how they got them, as I cant even get ones acquired from less savoury sources to work.The way I see it, is they're all Android games, so if I was to purchase one for the Galexy S, would it still work on the Desire? Nov 7, 2010I was just curious which Gameloft titles people own or have tried, and what their take on them is. I'd also like to know what devices you are running them on (although I guess your pot would indicate that under your name...) and what problems, if any, that you have encountered (bugs, force closes, etc.). I have the bought Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. and Dungeon Hunter, and here are my thoughts on them. Plane graphics are awesome, and the game play is pretty cool. Basically just a scaled down version of the PC/Console game. 13 missions give you a fair amount of gameplay and you can fly over 20 different planes and upgrade their weapon loads which is pretty cool. Gameloft LIVE and the achievement system make the game fun to play time and time again. I also like using the Accelerometer with this game too, and it works like a charm. I have not run into any bugs or anything of the sort with this game.Graphically the best RPG on the market (at least until Pocket Legends comes out, but even with that the two different styles will make them unique). Quite a few quests to do, hundreds of armor upgrades and ways to customize your characters. Gameplay is pretty smooth as well. The storyline and conversations get kind of cheesy at times, but overall a decent game. I encountered one part of the game causing a force close every time. At the end you defeat the last boss and there is a portal you are supposed to take after. This portal alone causes force closures every single time. Anyone have any of the other titles? How is the online multiplayer for those that have it (such as Modern Combat and NOVA)?

Jun 16, 2010I don't have my Evo yet so I can't and won't say this works 100% but from what I've read and what people have told me this seems to fix the problem so you won't have to do the GSM/CDMA trick anymore. Many have told me that you have to manually update this by going into -> Menu > Settings > System Updates > Update PRL. Let me know how it works out for you.

Jun 22, 2010I figure at this point everyone that hasn't got root yet need as many tips as possible and will try just about anything, so here is another tip. I've got into ADB 3 times (initial root, remove apps & install WirelessN), and each of them was on my first try after rebooting my computer. I'm using the pny sd card(for me it's the 4gb class 4 but 2gb works great as well), which seems to have been by far the most successful card, also I have SDK installed as my driver. The method I used was pretty standard, no clicking in & out the sd card, I just left it in the whole time, I didn't even use loop.bat. I know it's annoying to restart your computer after each attempt, but it worked for me.

HTC EVO 4G :: Trick Way To Improve Battery Life
Jun 18, 2010OK, I found a simple trick that has dramatically improved my battery life. Up until yesterday, I thought my battery life was pretty poor. About 4-5 hours of heavy usage, and maybe 8-12 hours of moderate to light use. I had tried all the tricks of turning off radios, turning off updates to services, etc. None seemed to make a huge difference.
Yesterday at work, I did what was becoming my normal practice of recharging before leaving so I would have enough battery to last through the evening. But instead of recharging by plugging into an AC outlet, I recharged via USB to my work computer. When I went to bed last night 9 hours after the USB recharge, I still had 70% battery life left after light to moderate use in the evening. This was by far the best performance I've seen.......

Jun 11, 2010When using Sprint visual voicemail and listening to a voice mail just slide your finger left to right or vice versa to the next screen and it will automatically play the next message continuously. I found this very useful in only listening to snippets of messages and much faster than hitting back and than tapping on a message.
