I've searched and I dont believe this has been answered. I accidently set "Astro Manager" as my default to viewing attached MMS/Picutres.
How can I undo this action (to where I have a choice to choose between astro and the view picture app)?

I am having some of the following exceptions:

I have googled it and see that it has something to do with popups and turning the screen, but there is no reference to my code.
The questions are:
Is there a way to find out exactly when this issue is happening? other than turning the screen, is there another event or action that triggers this error? how do I prevent this to happen?

My lil brother has a Samsung epic and it has a built in task killer. I was wondering do I need one for my HTC Evo. If I search google and then go back to home page google is still running in the background right? I saw somewhere that the astro file manager has a built in task killer.

From what I have read (http://bend-ing.blogspot.com/2008/11/properly-handle-progress-dialog-in.html) and seen in Android sources, it looks like the only possible situation to get that exception is when activity was destroyed. But as I have mentioned, I forbid activity recreation for basic events.
Now I am slightly new to the android game. Had a D1 that I traded for and I loved it. Used Astro File manager on there to get swype when it was available. I hear about this app and how it is great and you need it. I have downloaded it and I am not really 100% positive on its purpose. Is it just an easy way to delete files? Are there files I shouldn't delete?

(Please no more about if we NEED a task killer) What I like about the killer on astro is that it lets me see how much memory and cpu a task or process is actually using before I kill it. I rarely use a task killer. Only when a task seems to be hanging up. It looks like Astro has the functionality I need, so I will remove Advanced Task Killer.

Problem occurs when a dialog progress appears and I change my phone orientation, it freezes and crashes.
This is for all of you who are having troubles getting your application "Wireless Tether for Root Users" to work. I personally kept getting an error on which would say "Initializing WiFi Interface: Failed." I have since been able to get it to work. Here's how.
Disclaimer: Obviously you need a rooted phone for this to work, We're in Root forums for a reason. You will also need the Amon Recovery Partition.
Steps:
1. Boot phone into Recovery by holding Volume Up + Power (End Button).
2. Wipe phone of all data.
3. Flash to the 0_3 rom, install Astro File Manager from the Market
4. Download and install file from below and place into phones SD card.
5. Install from Astro by opening it in App Manger, Open up application and enjoy!

I'm at a loss trying to get Astro to communicate with my Windows XP home computer. I downloaded the SMB module for my MotoDroid, but am not really clear on how to configure my Windows Networking settings and what exactly needs to be entered in Astro's configuration settings. Is there a guide on how to do this on the web?.. if so, I haven't been able to find it.

It automatically defaults to the very top of the mail list - forcing me to scroll back down to read the 19th email and work my way back up. In other words it doesnt take me back to where I had just scrolled.

I can't delete the default groups ("vip", seriously?), which just clutters things up. I can't figure out how to make a folder on a home page from one of my groups. When I sync my contacts into windows, the group assignments gets lost, and I have to sync EVERYTHING, meaning my poker buddies and some chick I saw a movie with once end up on my work computer...
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am loading my web pages into the default browser in the Android Emulator using Xampp and localhost (as 10.0.2.2). The pages load okay but no images are displayed.
In browser settings, under bandwidth management, "Load Images is ticked". Google displays images if I do an image search.
Turning off anti virus and firewall makes no difference.
So, I am new to Android. Can anyone give me a brief explanation on what Astro will do? What happens if I do not download it? Any limitations?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy app wants to send a data file by email. However, the data only exists inside the database. There is no physical file containing it. In order to make it possible to send this using INTENT_SEND, I need to return a file descriptor in ContentProvider.openFile(). This means I need to write my data out to a temporary file on disk somewhere so I can open it to get a real file descriptor. However, the email app doesn't necessarily use the file immediately, and *doesn't tell me* when it's finished with it, so I don't know when to remove the temporary file. As the file is likely to be quite large I don't want to keep it around for long periods.
What I'd really like to do is to be able to avoid the whole issue by using a callback to synthesise the data as and when the email app needs it, using some sort of pipe. Unfortunately due to the real file descriptor requirement I can't use Java pipes, there are no Unix fifo APIs that I can find, and you can't create a ParcelFileDescriptor from a Unix socket, which was my other option. Is there any easy way to do what I want, or do I need to start messing around with TCP sockets?
AVI file attached to gmail on Droid only offers PREVIEW as an option and my Rock Player app (which would play it) does not appear on list of apps to use. Movies and Video Player only come up and unlike Windows, there is no ability to browse for an app. (something that should be added to android). Is there a setting somewhere to fix up this goofiness? Been looking, but so far no luck.

It now shows a box that says download and when I push the download button it doesnt do anything. Before the pic or video would show up, all I had to do was hit the play button and I could view the pic or video.

I can't find a way to save the picture to the Droid, and connecting the phone to my PC and browsing the contents of the Droid doesn't reveal the picture anywhere
