Dec 21, 2009

ok so i was playing around with trying to get the stoick mms to install over the twmms.apk and i finally got it working.First of all, if you don't have astro file manager, go download from the market cause you will need it. next go to this link and download the Modified Mms.apk and put it on your sdcard.

Modified Mms.apk-Turn-off debug mode, stop application from lagging [Updated: 08/21] - xda-developers.Now travel to the saved mms.apk on your sdcard and click in it to install and click upgrade.that's it. Now you should have the stock mms.apk.

I hear about this app and how it is great and you need it. I have downloaded it and I am not really 100% positive on its purpose. Is it just an easy way to delete files? Are there files I shouldn't delete?

HTC Droid Eris :: Task Killer In Astro File Manager

Apr 3, 2010

I just noticed that Astro has a built-in task killer. (Please no more about if we NEED a task killer) What I like about the killer on astro is that it lets me see how much memory and cpu a task or process is actually using before I kill it. I rarely use a task killer. Only when a task seems to be hanging up. It looks like Astro has the functionality I need, so I will remove Advanced Task Killer.

Once I download an apk and place it on sd, and install it with astro file manager, does the apk have to stay on sd card or is it permanently installed to system until deletion?

For example my SuperUser.apk, wireless tether.apk and swype.apk were installed from sd through astro. I also have these apk's backed up with titanium backup. If i delete them from sd will they be removed and uninstalled from my system?

Also... I did a nandroid backup with the great clockwork recovery. This only backs up ROM and not apps/apks....right?

Am relatively new to the smartphone scene, but so far am enjoying my HTC Desire immensely. What are the pro's and con's of a File Manager? As a noob, is this something I even need? My phone is not rooted.I assume a file manager is to look at the contents of the SD card and move things around, but since my phone is so smart doesn't it do this already, putting things where they should be? Maybe I misunderstand the File Manager application? How many users have a File Manager?
