Sprint HTC Hero : Rearrange Contact In Contact Widget?
Nov 17, 2009Does anyone know how to rearrange the contact in the contact widget. How about deleting and/or changing the order of the items in the book mark widget.

Sprint HTC Hero :: How To Delete Updates And Events From Contact Widget?
Feb 28, 2010From the People widget or "contacts" there is a tab that has Facebook "updates and events". While this is nice I would like to clear out the updates once I have seen them and can't for the life of me figure out how to do that. I don't use the auto update feature so when I press refresh I get everything which is fine but once I have seen them I would like to delete them off my Hero.

Jul 5, 2010Working on a Sprint HTC Hero that was recently upgraded to 2.1.
But the contacts when added as a google contact only show up under "all contacts" in google and not on the phone itself.
At first, I worked around this by logging into google to manually switch the contacts to "my contacts" and it then showed up on the phone.
Now, I figured out that when adding the contact on the phone, I have to choose "null" as a group label for the contact to show up on the phone.
Sprint HTC Hero :: Gmail Contact Pictures
Feb 3, 2010I was reading a previous thread about blury contact pictures so I thought I would try to assign pictures to some of my contacts. I looked up the instructions in Gmail Help and they refer to a picture section in Contacts. The problem is I do not see any reference to pictures in either new or existing contacts or edits. Am I missing something or do I have a old version of Gmail if there is such a thing?

May 20, 2010Prior to updating I exported my contacts to CSV on my SD card. When I logged into gmail not all of my contacts came back. Is there an app that will allow me to locate my CSV file and overwrite my contact list? Also, for future reference, how can I force my contacts to backup on gmail?

Apr 29, 2010In my gmail account i have "my contacts" that are synced to the phone, and in there i have most of the contacts with all sorts of info like, address, birthday, anniversary, website, and all that jazz. when i sync it to my phone, i only get basic info like address, number and email. the birthday, anniversary and website don't syn. why is that and how can i fix that? i would hate to go through my phone and edit all that info manually in the phone. also, i read somewhere that you can choose what contacts from gmail are synced. if you go into people, then groups, hit menu, and then sync group you can choose what is synced (all contacts, my contacts, and whatever groups you have). i had that option before, and now it is gone.

Nov 14, 2010Thanks to some advice you have given me I am now running CM6 and love it.I have had almost no problems getting everything set up and working except for one intermittent problem.Facebook syncing with my contacts.Some contacts sync, others do not. And there names are matching Facebook. I know in Sense you can search and link. Is there something I'm missing?I've dug through settings and can't find anything to link or sync the existing contacts that didn't link up.

Dec 19, 2009In the standard contact list, I can only add 2 work numbers. I need to be able to add more. I have searched the market but that ones that I found only organize the contacts. Most will let you edit the contact but uses the standard app for editing. I know that the Samsung Moment can add many so maybe there is app out there.

Mar 31, 2010I am trying to take a phone number from my call log and edit it to be added to a contact without typing it by hand. On my Sprint Katana, when you clicked on the phone number in the call log, you had the choice to edit or append the number. On my Hero, when I press on the phone number, it calls it? Am I missing a step, or not holding the press long enough? I have searched and read as many as come up under a search, but I can't find any that address it from the call log issue.

May 21, 2010i just updated to 2.1 and i imported my gmail contacts but since my facebook account is added to it decided to add facebook contacts..i keep trying to delete my contacts but it says too much even when i delete a couple at a time i keep deleting all of them then i import from my backup contacts on sd and it still brings me my fb ones somehow even though they arent on there Google contact sync doesnt sync anything at all its broken i just want my google contacts synced not my facebook contacts there are soem more random facebook contacts that it wont let me delete in my contacts and they dont show up in all contacts.

May 8, 2010I just rooted my phone and loaded a 2.1 ROM (Damage Control v2.08). Everything seems to be working great. I went into my contacts (reloaded through MS Exchange) and noticed that some of the Facebook photos were auto linked to a contact, but some were not. I am guessing the ones that did not do not have a name that matches exactly did not load.With the stock phone, I was able to manually select the Facebook friend I wanted to associate with my contact and it added the picture.With 2.1, when I try to manually select a Facebook contact through "Link Facebook Profile", the screen doesn't list anyone to choose from.It is just blank and says "no matches found".Has anyone else had this problem? I'm trying to figure out how to manually link people. I can log into Facebook with no problem and everything there seems to work.

Oct 30, 2009I have a question about the "People (Contacts) app". Is it possible to have more than one phone number for a single contact? I am assuming so by the way the manual is written. I have tried to follow the instructions on page 34 of the manual "adding a number to an entry in People". Step 2 directions do not exist. "Tap ADD>PHONE". I do not see that as an option. Am I missing something?

Aug 9, 2010I discovered this new feature today... well, actually I should give credit to my son, who got his hero about 3 weeks ago for finding this.
Pressing on the contact's picture in the people list pops a little menu that allows you to easily choose whether to call or text them. It even provides the Handcent icon if you are using that as your main messaging app!
Just thought I would share this finding, in case I wasn't the only one who didn't know about it!

Ever since Facebook released its newest version my contact storage has sky rocketed. i only have 137 contacts, i orginally had all my facebook contacts synced, after the update they remained in the contact list but i lost the ability to view the contact picture or link it to a contact. i set the app to sync only phone contacts yet it keeps adding duplicate contacts and contact information. for example i have some contacts that now have 8 to 10 entries or i will have one contact their information like organization or email have multiple entries. ive cleared the data several times and even set it not to sync and it seems to continue to happen. is anyone having these issues or knows of a work around? at this point im relegated to hard reset and start from scratch? my phone isn't rooted but im willing to root if their is a work around that way?

I use GV exclusively probably half of the entries in my phone history appear as "unknown". Its also hit-or-miss if the contact's name appears when i dial out or when they're ringing in. Also, when me and another contact call each other back and forth several times, sometimes their info appears, sometimes they appear as "(unknown)" -- its baffling me.

Feb 16, 2010I rooted my phone and flashed with Fresh 1.1 yesterday, and so far so good, I'm loving it. However, I noticed that my texting applications, Handcent SMS (as well as the stock messaging app), they no longer showing my contact's photos. It just shows a blank profile image of a head, with a question mark in the upper righthand corner (the stock messaging app is the same, just a dark silhouette instead of contact photo now). My contact's photos are all still in my phone, they work fine and are viewable in the "people" application (both FB photos and my own photos that I've assigned to contacts), or when I'm making a phone call, but in both messaging applications they don't have images anymore. I've verified in the Handcent SMS that "Display contact picture" is enabled (I've tried disabling it, then redisplaying it at both sizes... still no luck). I've also tried uninstalling Handcent SMS, then reinstalling the application from Market, still no luck. Any suggestions on how to get those back? I'm thinking that since it's not working in either messaging application, that it has something to do with the contact photos database (which I don't even know if something like that exists).

Jan 18, 2010So I have a very weird yet unique case with my stock text messaging app. Just this past weekend I started noticing that one of my contacts text messages were consistently showing up 3 minutes earlier from my text to them. So every time I send a text their response shows up above it which is very annoying. This case is only occurring for this contact, everyone else shows up just fine.
Now, this is what I have determined so far...
1) It's only happening when I receive a text from someone using a DROID on Verizon. I had a another friend who I had not recently text with sent me a text message to test my theory. The issue still occurs...
2) I had my sister who is on Verizon text me on her Blackberry Tour and the timing of her text shows up correctly. So it can't be the network right?
3) 3rd party apps (Handcent/ChompSMS) don't have this issue at all, the timing is perfect for everyone so my guess is that there is something wrong with the stock messaging app?
I have a whole bunch of other text from other contacts and I don't have this issue, it's just happening to the one contact that I have...actually, now two, which both have a DROID.
I may have to commit to using Handcent but I've been testing out the stock messaging app lately to evaluate the wake time after the firmware update and just noticed this problem occurring this past weekend only. I was using the stock messaging app even before this weekend and didn't notice this problem.
