View 6 RepliesSo I read up on how to root my phone and everything but have been running into problem after problem. Finally I figured out that the main problem was that I need to revert to the stock software (1.5). So I ran the HTC ROM Update Utility but for the past two times I got ERROR {140}: BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Yes, I've searched but came up with nothing.

View 14 Replies View RelatedEDIT: OK, it looks like i have to run the RUU to go back to the version ending in .5 first. My new question is how do I back up all my settings and programs before this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo a friend just received his new Inc, and immediately took the upgrade, so now he's sitting at stock 2.2. I'm thinking the answer is no, but want to confirm that there is no way to root 2.2, or to revert back to 2.1 so he can root, right?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was using easy root and it would not work for me. I got to the 3rd step but kept giving me errors. Now I got a half rooted phone but do not want to try to root anymore. But now I realized after installing everything back due to failure to root that my Facebook won't sync as it get error that service is down. So easy root went through all 4 steps but errors on 3rd and 4th. And thus I can go to recovery mode but not fully rooted. Do I need to do anything special to revert back to nonroot?
View 2 Replies View RelatedGo into recovery (like you did to apply the update.zip). Wipe your cache. Perform a factory reset/date wipe or whatever it's called from within recovery. You _should_ (again I take no responsibility here) boot into 2.1 where you can root and then apply 2.2 update again. Good luck, and let us know if it does/doesn't work.
To revert to 2.1:
1: Flash sbf. After this, you will bootloop.
2: Get into recovery like you did when you updated to 2.2.
3: Wipe cache.
4. Factory reset.
When you reboot you should be at stock 2.1. This would be useful if you needed to return the phone for warranty services, or if you need to reinstall 2.2 for some reason (like to gain root).
I have another posting about my Verizon network settings getting screwed up by a widget, and assuming that I need to restore my phone, I'd like to see how to do it while keeping root. If I use the built-in option to restore factory settings, will I keep root and the super-user apk? I'm not downgrading anything, I didn't do any OTA leaks; I'm curious about restoring my phone to factory settings while retaining root.

Is there any word when a method to root and install custom firmwares on the Arc (such like Cyagonmod or something)?
I've tried just about most of the common methods I've found so far, and I've gotten nothing.
The only thing I can think of is the fact that the Arc is suspiciously similar to the Nexus 7, so can look into root and see if a port can be made for the Arc.
I have new firmware on PC for my Samsung phone, intended for flashing with Odin (i have PHONE, CSC and PIT files). My question here is, is it possible to root this firmware before flashing it. The case is, my phone is now rooted and I don't want to loose root access, but I would like to flash this new firmware, cause with this one i have occasional problems (force close of apps, freezes, loosing wifi connection, etc). I've searched every where but haven't found anything. Only Mobile Odin have such options, but my phone is not supported yet.

Recently my fone was upgraded by samsung kies to gingerbread 2.3.6 & firmware version S5670DDKT2, and after the upgrade I was unrooted again

Why can't I root my fone now, has SAMSUNG patched the zergrush exploit?
If so how do I root again?, I mean it should be safe enough to try coz I don't wanna brick my phone....
I would like to know if it is possible to upgrade/downgrade an android phone (samsung mostly) with official firmwares without the need to root? The reason is that some testing is needed on these devices and only with official firmwares it would be valid. And at will it would be nice to be able to switch versions for different test purposes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am thinking about rooting my X10i so I can get the great apps that I have seen that are unfortunately limited to rooted phones only.
What is the quickest and easiest way to root my X10i on firmware R2BA026? (please proved any links necessary)
Will everything on my phone be deleted during rooting process?
Will I still be able to get future updates with SEUS or OTA like usual, or will I need to re-root each time.
What are the pros and cons of rooting?
Is there any well known problems when rooting with R2BA026 firmware? If so what are they and can they be resolved easily?
Also, if I cannot install updates via SEUS or OTA, is there anyway to have root access and still be able to do this? What would you recommend I do?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen the 2.1 update does come out, if I decide that I want to check it out and revert back to the stock 1.5, is that what nandroid is? All I would have to do is reboot, pick the nandroid file and go back to 1.5? Also, if I do revert back to 1.5 will the phone be unrooted as well? Forgive me if these questions seem nooby like but to this forum, I am a bit of a noob. If you don't ask you don't know.

I am having a problem with my HTC Incredible and i was hoping someone can lead me in the right direction to downloading firmware 2.1 update 2. I am trying to downgrade because my phone was rooted and i tried to manually update the firmware, which caused a big problem. i got to find 2.1 update 1 but still cannot find update 2, if there is one. After trying to manually upgrade it, it kept on rebooting and i restored the software to 2.1 update 1, just looking for 2.1 update 2.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the HTC Hero/T-Mobile G2 Touch and I still do not have the latest firmware 2.1 update on it. I've got as far as changing the year to 2013 and it brings up the request to update the phone. I select to update it and it turns off my phone to install.
It then loads but stops half-way and it just shows a white triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle with an image of a phone underneath. The update does not continue from there. I've tried it at least 4 times and it's done the same every time.
My Incredible just got updated to the 2.1 update1 firmware. When the update was installed all of my pictures stored on the phone were deleted. Now when I take a picture, most of the time, the phone will just show the picture I took on the screen but not allow me to to do anything (take another picture, share, delete, etc.).
The only thing I can do to get the phone responsive again is to click the home screen button and then the click camera icon (repeatedly) until the camera is responsive again. I tried switching the phone to save to the Micro SD card instead of the Phone memory but am still having the same problems. I have also tried turning GEO-Tagging on and Off but that does not effect problem.
