When the 2.1 update does come out, if I decide that I want to check it out and revert back to the stock 1.5, is that what nandroid is? All I would have to do is reboot, pick the nandroid file and go back to 1.5? Also, if I do revert back to 1.5 will the phone be unrooted as well? Forgive me if these questions seem nooby like but to this forum, I am a bit of a noob. If you don't ask you don't know.

I have a question...i want to root my phone and install the new villain 5.3 rom so that i can have droid 2.1 but my question is, what happens if it craps out on me and i need to revert it back to the way i got the phone from sprint.where can i find instructions on how to do that and where can i find that software? sorry if this is a repeat question but i searched a bit and didnt find it.

Finally I figured out that the main problem was that I need to revert to the stock software (1.5). So I ran the HTC ROM Update Utility but for the past two times I got ERROR {140}: BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Yes, I've searched but came up with nothing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is what I'm dealing with. I Used astro to get my droid into the 2.2 FRG01B but I'm NOT rooted from stocked 2.1 just like in the Guide but i didn't Backup any files or i don't have SPRecovery, or anything like that. My recover screen reads as follow;
1:Reboot
2:apply update.zip (which is what i did the first time to get to 2.2)
3:wipe date/Factory reset
4:Wipe Cache partition
5:wipe baseband data
As you can see i don't have install or anything of that nature. Now my question is, is there a way to get me back to 2.1 Stocked like when i got it or am i pretty much screwed with what i've done? If i haven't totally messed up can somebody provide a step by step so i don't mess anything up further.
How do i revert to non-rooted so i wont have any problems when i return the phone to verizon?

I downloaded bootstrap and the first thing i did was create a nandroid back up for my x. then i proceeded to try and install tranquility rom. it got stuck in a bootloop. so when i rebooted into recovery it now goes for some reason to the droid stock recovery and i can't revert back to my back up. what do i do?!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to activate my hero again but it's rooted so I can't take it into the store to have it activated.I want to put my phone back to the original factory settings but every time I try to sync it with HTC Sync it just keeps resetting itself. I tried downloading a copy of HTC Sync and I have even installed it from my phones SD card (I backed it up before I rooted). Every time I plug the phone into my computer then hit the HTC Sync under notifications the phone keeps rebooting and HTC Sync doesn't even recognize it (my computer does though) I am using a netbook running Windows XP.

I click flash clockwork mod recovery it auto senses my phone cdma htc hero. I click on the hero, and nothing happens, I never receive a successfully flashed.

Last I tried to perform a backup using prekitchen
the diagnostic showed I am green in all areas
I click on the nandroid backup and it reboots my phone and brings up a HTC splash screen.
basically I have to pull out the battery to get phone functionality back. I have read else where that I can hold volume down and power to bring up a recovery mod (this works) but I am not sure what to do when I get there.
How can i backup my contacts list before updating my phone. would rather not have to buy an application to do this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was using easy root and it would not work for me. I got to the 3rd step but kept giving me errors. Now I got a half rooted phone but do not want to try to root anymore. But now I realized after installing everything back due to failure to root that my Facebook won't sync as it get error that service is down. So easy root went through all 4 steps but errors on 3rd and 4th. And thus I can go to recovery mode but not fully rooted. Do I need to do anything special to revert back to nonroot?
