Nov 6, 2013I would like to know if it is possible to upgrade/downgrade an android phone (samsung mostly) with official firmwares without the need to root? The reason is that some testing is needed on these devices and only with official firmwares it would be valid. And at will it would be nice to be able to switch versions for different test purposes.

I want to get the best out of my phone (speed and goodlooks) mostlu because im bored of the original touchwiz.

Recently my fone was upgraded by samsung kies to gingerbread 2.3.6 & firmware version S5670DDKT2, and after the upgrade I was unrooted again
When I tried to root again, all my attempts failed, I used SuperOneClick 2.3.3 to root my fone again, but it failed after STEP 7.
Why can't I root my fone now, has SAMSUNG patched the zergrush exploit?
If so how do I root again?, I mean it should be safe enough to try coz I don't wanna brick my phone....

Aug 30, 2013I bought LG VU II (F200L) in perfectly working condition, it almost new. After installing LG PC suite and connecting it said new firmware update is available so I proceeded which was done successfully but since then touch screen is not working properly.
Usually it responds ok but main issue is back button is not working anymore, and sometimes when I press power button to unlock screen it responds very weird and not so responsive as well as sometimes doesnt responds or opens apps that I havent even clicked.
I tried to restore, emergency restore, LG Flash tools and used correct KDZ files to flash roms successfully but nothing seems to resolve this issue.

Oct 29, 2013I have to unpack, modify and pack apk-files automatically. I work on Linux and my first attempt was to unpack it with unzip and pack it again without modification. The installation failed because package was not signed correctly. I removed CERT.* files and pack it again. After signing the archive with jarsigner I installed it on my rooted Galaxy S2, Android 4.1.2. But if I start the app, it deadlocks and I have to reboot the device. The app is very simple only showing some views without any function. Did I miss any special about apk-files?

May 18, 2012 I upgraded my Galaxy 551 to Gingerbread 2.3.6. All went well. Unfortunately it seems to be a common side effect that the Z and Y keys (and some others) get swapped. The fix is apparently to modify the file /system/usr/keychars/sec_keypad.kcm.bin. The ideal thing is to put the old file from before the FW update back in, but of course I don't have that anymore! But the existing one can apparently be altered. If I can copy it to the SD card I can alter it in a hex editor and put it back.
So, I rooted my phone with that one click application, and that went OK too. I installed root explorer and found the file. There were also some others in the same folder I may be able to use. But, I cant make the folder R/W (pressing the button does nothing) so cant do anything with the file. I also tried Super Manager with no luck.
