I created a backup while following rooting instructions for mac (http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/125436-detailed-leak-root-tutorial.html) so I figure I should be able to revert the phone back to its original state. How do I do this?

I have a question...i want to root my phone and install the new villain 5.3 rom so that i can have droid 2.1 but my question is, what happens if it craps out on me and i need to revert it back to the way i got the phone from sprint.where can i find instructions on how to do that and where can i find that software? sorry if this is a repeat question but i searched a bit and didnt find it.

My EVO won't sleep and is eating through the battery in just a matter of hours.
I really don't want to spend time troubleshooting the issues as 2.1 was working perfectly for me.
I was trying to root my samsng behold 2 earlier today using the command codes on theunlockr.com. I thought everything was going well as I went all the way to the last step where it rebooted my behold 2. Problem is, the phone kinda just turned off after doing the reboot command and didn't turn back on by itself (I gave it like 10 minutes). I eventually then just turned on the phone manually and noticed that everything was super laggy. Even when I used taskkiller to kill every task minus GDE, it said I only had 38MB ram available. I rebooted my phone a few times and it was laggy everytime so I decided to do a hard reset. The problem is that when I attempted the hard-reset, it will now get stuck on the samsung screen when trying to load up (stayed there for over 30 minutes). I can still enter the phone if I just start it up regularly without trying to hard-reset, but it will continue to be VERY laggy.
Is there anything I can do to restore this phone back to its original state? I was reading about using ODIN to flash it or something, but for some reason my computer doesn't detect my phone when I go into Download mode on startup (it does however detect the usb drivers on my phone once the phone officially startsup into its homepage).
I just want to know that if I root my tab with custom rom.. Then is it possible to revert back or unroot the tab to original rom so that it's warranty doesn't void.

Seems like every forum I find is either 9,000 posts of people talking about completely unrelated subjects or is for the Moto Droid. I would think there would be a program out there that would do this automatically by now.

It now is on my phone but after it runs my screen goes green for awhile as i frantically press buttons to get it back. I tried uninstalling the app but that didn't get my original animation backk. View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got the new 2.2 firmware and I hate the look of the revised clock app. Is there any way to re-download the media dock clock app from 2.1? The red/blue wavy colored backgrounds and the reflected numbers of the clock at the bottom used to look awesome - like a fancy alarm clock, but now with the wallpaper showing through it just looks like a widget overlaid over my normal phone apps. Not to mention I can't find a way to disable to screen saver and have to tap the screen every time I want to check the weather. Makes we wish I hadn't paid for the dock at all now.

I downloaded bootstrap and the first thing i did was create a nandroid back up for my x. then i proceeded to try and install tranquility rom. it got stuck in a bootloop. so when i rebooted into recovery it now goes for some reason to the droid stock recovery and i can't revert back to my back up. what do i do?!

I had an edited png for the market icon in the vending apk but when I applied my edited png's to Ivans rom with the market fix it seems to have changed the icon back to the original market Icon. When I first loaded the rom it showed my edited png for the market icon but after my first reboot it seems to change the icon back to the original. I assume that the market is updating upon reboot so I pulled the vending apk off my phone and my edited png's are still there but its still showing the original market icon. Anybody else with an edited market icon notice this or any ideas of why its going back to original? I have tried this a couple times and it always updates after first reboot...

I see how to do it for other phones and know how to do it for the original droid with much help however, I do not want to do the update until I know there is a way to revert back to 2.1 Also I am using the leaked NON ROOTED 2.2 update if I get an answer on here. I rooted my EVO yesterday, using unrEVOked, it did not want to install until i removed HTC Sense from device manager. I rooted the phone for the wifi tether, which worked. I then decided to install CM6, so i made a backup image using nandroid, and followed all the directions for that. CM6 did not want to install until in installed PC36IMG.zip. I found out that none of my contacts were there and needed to install GAPPS, which i can not find a file for that (all links seem to be broken). Now i want to go back to the original HTC rom, but still have the phone rooted.
*PROBLEM* When i go into the restore in nandroid it starts to run but then gives me "Error While Flashing Boot Image".
How can i get back to the stock HTC rom ?? Another issue is that when the phone is plugged in it no longer sees it as a mass storage device, and i can not see the SD card.
If you root your evo can you reset it later back to factory state.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI totally bricked my phone as i was trying to flash it to its original state and when i flash the spl (update[1].SHIPMENT-SPL-HBOOT-1.33.0009H-signed.zip ) i took the battery after it rebooted but i guess before it finished as i saw a magic phone on the screen but could't stop on time from removing the battery. Now nothing make my magic to turn on again, not the power button, not the back + power button, not the home + power button and not even the volume down + power button.
i tried removing the battery, connecting the usb and tried all the possible combinations with no success. Is there any way to get into fastboot, as if i get there then i can reflash my previous spl and i am done. Please help me as i paid over 1000 dollars for this phone here in argentina and there is not htc or rogers customers support here. Is there any pandora battery or adb force awake or adb force power on command?
When I do factory reset (which means the same as 'wipe', right?) it does resetting current installed ROM to its original state, right?
So, let's say I am doing factory reset the first time (so currently my phone has store ROM installed) so factory reset will revert all the changes in the installed ROM (such as settings, installed apps, all the data) to its original state - which the phone had since it got ROM installed.
But If I got root (which means I replaced secured kernel with unsecured one) and I installed another customized ROM and for some reason I want to do factory reset again - what's gonna happen?
Will factory reset revert original store ROM back or it will revert manually installed ROM (customized ROM) to its after installation?
And as far as I understood factory reset does nothing with kernel? It only affects ROM? So in the second case , when I use non-store ROM and I am doing factory reset - nothing will happen with my unsecured kernel?
I am trying to get me Droid to play the Droid sound at startup again. I have tried to set my notification so i get the droid sound at start up, but no luck. It is a droid 1 rooted with easy root and I am also using super manager.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI don't know how I did it, but on my home screen, originally I saw this:with the phone on the left, 2nd home screen to get to all the apps, and the contacts button to the right with the 5-7 screens.somehow I got it on some "Linux" mode where when I press anywhere on the screen, it will shrink to three small windows, two of which are empty and 1 of the windows only displays the following icons: Droid Market, Browser, and Maps along with a dock at the bottom. I want to go back to the way it was beforehand. Does anyone know how to fix this?
