j thought i'd give every one the heads up that today a mass email was sent out telling all RS employees how to reformat the SD card. i cant imagine them opening up every box before launch and doing so. but my guess is they want this done when you boot up the device in store. i did it to mine today and only took all of 20 seconds. dont worry you an still ask them not to and take it home and do it.

I wanted to load up an A-DATA 16GB Class 6 card with music tonight so I can listen to music at work on the Evo tomorrow at work after i pick up phone in the morning...my questions is, since my PC (Windows 7) didn't need to format the card, will the phone need to do any formatting?

Releasing 1.6 in the middle of a contest is unacceptable. According to the official terms and conditions: "a. SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES: To qualify for a Prize, an "Entry" to the Challenge consists of an original application that is written using a version of the Android Software Development Kit ("SDK") (available at http://developer.android.com) that validly executes on Android version 1.5. The SDK contains instructions, documentation, and all necessary tools to enable a Participant to build an Android application." My App as well as many other ADC2 apps worked fine on 1.5 but started "force closing" after the 1.6 update. Programmers were told to develop an application for 1.5, not 1.6, and were not given the tools or opportunity to test our apps with 1.6. In my case, I have had 95 people test my app for Round 1 judging, but 27 of those were "force closes" due to the 1.6 update. This is because of an issue with a Google API that was updated with 1.6. I went to my local store today to see if they had any of the phone in stock, and the rep said "we don't know when we'll get more". They don't know? So Verizon managers has no control over their inventory and when they need more of a product? Bullshit. How did they even know they would carry the phone in their store in the first place? I mean they "didn't know" if they were getting them, right?Then he said that if I ordered the phone through them, it would ship to the store in a couple days where I could pick it up. But wait doesn't it say on VZW's site that the phone is still backordered until 5/29? How are they going to get any? Commission-salary employees are almost always dishonest.

View 3 Replies View RelatedBeing a geek, I've been very interested in getting a Droid, and in anticipation, have been following this forum since day one.I've been to the Verizon store a few times to play with the Droid, and was comparing it to the Eris today when an employee came over and started chatting with me.He had a Droid, so I asked him how he liked it, etc, etc. I mentioned how I knew quite a bit about the device just from reading up on it online. I asked him about the keyboard, and what his take was.He mentioned the lack of raised keys, etc., and then said his main complaint was that there was no way to 'lock' the Alt key so he could type numbers - and he proceeded to show me how you had to hold the Alt key down, and type with the other hand.Then I mentioned to him that I thought all you needed to do was double-tap the alt key to lock it. He did that and was amazed that it was that simple, and thanked me for the tip.Perhaps this forum should be mandatory reading for all Verizon employees?

However, since I haven't made the purchase yet, I was wondering what some of you thought of the brands. There is a class 2 sandisk out there a brand I know very well, but its only a class two. Then there are two brands I have never heard of: 3C and Topram. Has anybody had any experience with these brands? If so, what do you think of them? The cards are cheaper and faster (in theory) than the sandisk, but if it's a bad brand, then I don't think it'll be worth it.

I have 2 micro sd cards. one a 4gig that i used in my g1 and a 8gig that i use in my hero. in my hero the 8gig says damaged sd card. it happened last night while trying to copy a bunch of stuff from laptop and it crashed during it. says i need to format it, but it just locks up phone and i have to pull battery out to restart. tried to do it from windows, but it wont even mount. so i was going to try to use my old 4gig from my g1 that i could never delete or add any files to. no luck there either. i can access it and copy files and they will be there, but then they just disapeer. i tried formating in windows and it formats and shows empty, but then everything comes back. is there a way to fix these cards like a formating program or something.

I want to use the 16gb sd card from my E71 in my Desire but what do I have to do to keep from losing info, and app info that's already on my Desire sd card? Is there a program that backs it up completely? I've heard that some people have switched just by copying onto PC and then back onto the new card, but have had problems with application data etc. Also, is the 16gb card going to run really slowly? Well, for one the primary purveyor of Android does not derive a primary source of income from their efforts. Second, the companies providing Androids have no real reason nor ability to continually refine Android proper. And that last point really bugs me. The phone manufactures are not software developers and that leads to two issues, 1) they don't understand what it takes to develop software and 2) they are motivated to not do so. By point number 2 I mean they make money pumping out new phones. If they provide new things in currently deployed phones they are just cutting themselves out of revenue. What is the solution? Well for one how about they start charging for OS upgrades just like MS and Apple do? Would the market bear this?

I've gone over the code a few times and can't find anything that could damage an SD card. All that happens that involves external storage is the saving of streams as images, which then get read into ImageView's.

I've searched around the forum and couldn't find anything.
So heres the issue. I've been dying to get myself an android phone for a while now, but no carriers in my country (Ireland) have any affordable ones. So I've been shopping around online. I've found a faulty one on ebay. Its fine except it keeps saying "No Sim Card"
So I was wondering, has anyone had this issue before? And is it something I could repair, or should I keep looking?
Any setting to force Google Now to keep the weather card "always on"? I have noticed that this has been disappearing lately, and doesn't even show up when I press the "show more cards" button.
