I have a rooted Evo, and I decided to go ahead and get froyo today. I used the software update and downloaded it, went ahead and let it update, and now about 2 hours later it's still updating. I'm stuck on the screen with the Android guy with a triangle and exclamation point in it.Is this normal? How long does this update take?

When I try to refresh friendstream is gets permanently stuck on "updating" and the only way to get it to work again is to restart the phone.More often than not I can't view updates on my phone because it just gets stuck, but occasionally it will work once. but if I try again I'm not so lucky!Anyone have idea what's wrong? It used to work perfectly before the Froyo update. It's been hit and miss ever since.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was updating to CM11 using clockworkmod recovery v6.0.3.2 and experienced status 7 error. I now know that you need v6.0.4 to update to CM11.
I am now stuck with no OS in clockworkmod recovery and cant revert to the original CM10 as I get a (bad) error.
How would I go about updating to v6.0.4?
Has anyone attempted to update either their Profile or their PRL recently? I have been trying to do both (because it's good to do every once in awhile, and I'm trying to see if it'll help with my 4G issue) and it gets stuck in the preparation stage and never completes.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone (HTC Hero 200 running 2.1) a few days ago, went with Fresh 2.1, but after having some trouble with WiFi Tethering I opted for Damage Control. I did a lot of searching online and found Damage Control 0.999999% and installed it on my phone. It is working okay for the most part, but I found out that there are a number of 2.0 versions out there so I decided I wanted to update to a new version.
1) Version 2.09.1 would not load (and I read that it was unstable so I removed it and rolled back.
2) I went with version 2.08.1 and when I rebooted the phone it would get stuck on the boot-up screen and would not go any further (I went in, wiped the phone, went back to the initial Kernel I installed (2.6.29-8f4e5478 htc-kernel@and18-2 #1), but it still wouldn't work.
3) I research other Damage Control ROMS and went with 2.06.1 Lite to download the DCUpdater, thinking that if I went with this edition I would use it to get to 2.08.1, but same result as before.
Do I need to download a new Kernel? Do I need to start from scratch and root my phone all over again?
Anyone having trouble with widgets stop updating? Like my clock/calendar/weather/news/pretty much any widget i have stops updating after an hour. So i look at my clock widget two hours later and it is an hour behind. Happens to ALL my widgets.Even the quick turn on/off wifi,bt,gps and such. They just stop updating/showing animation.I have ADW launcher installed. I am wondering if it is that. I do not really want to remove it as i hate the stock 3 button interface at the bottom (why do i need a contacts and phone, just use the phone to look thru contacts, wasted space IMO) and am quite keen on keeping the 5 button.Any ideas? If i power off the phone and turn it back on it's fine again for about an hour. SOmetimes randomly thru the day it will start updating and working fine again then randomly stop again.

Firmware Version 1.5
Build number 1.44.557.2
Software version 1.44.557.2
I assume this phone needs updating, right. Question is- what about the apps installed and contact list? Can I back them up somewhere?
Received my HTC Desire this week and its amazing. I've ported over from another provided and it appears that Phone Information in the About Phone Section contains my temporary port number.Can this be updated? Or is this information taken from the SIM?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if this is an android problem, or a samsung i9000 problem, but either way it's an annoying problem that I'd love to find a solution for ?_? I simply cant get the alarm to work for me (overnight. it's fine in the very short term). It appears to be because the clock stops moving/updating when the phone goes to sleep, because when I turn the screen back on I can see that the time is off by multiple hours, depending upon when it stopped updating, and stays that way for a couple of seconds before changing to the correct time.
Things to note here..
I do NOT use a task killer
The alarm volume is up
I have tried the alarm both with and without the Automatic, network provided time setting. The clock still stops moving. I've not updated anything from the standard (UK) firmware
1. Does the phone support Chinese input?
in other words, if the phone could send or receive Chinese messages?
2. If something wrong with the phone during updating, and can't start, is there any ways to recovery it?
When at work I dont seem to get very good signal (Even though orange coverage map shows excellent signal in Central Chelmsford).The 3G symbol appears in the notification bar but only the up arrow will flash (As though it thinks there is a 3G signal, but it is not receiving any data, just transmitting it)If I turn the phone onto GSM only - Then it will connect with the G symbol showing - And I am able to use the mobile data connection fine, all be it at the slow speed.When I have the "GSM/WCDMA auto" setting on, should the phone not recognise that it is not getting a good 3G signal (By the lack of data coming in) and automatically switch to the g? The HTC support people didn't seem to think so! So I though I would ask on here as it is a pain having to change to gsm only every day so that I can use my phone at my work.

For those of you with this problem, what are you experiencing? I just got the nexus activated and it stayed on 3g for about 30 mints before switching to 2g with me sitting in the same spot. then after 30 mints went back to 2g and now its just stuck there. I've checked the map and I should have excellent signal. Is there anything at all I can do? Will rooting and adding custom Rom help?
