My phone plan won't start until the 18th so I have no internet text or call. I have WiFi on with good internet at the house. I have 43 down 24 up mbps can I download apps with WiFi on I am trying and all I see is starting download.

My problem is that I can get the phone to connect to my home wifi, ping it, use Skype, BUT I cannot get it to browse the net or download from the market. It is a linksys - WRT54G on firmware v4.30.2, other phones and pc have no problem.

I've been messing with it and it seems like my mobile network isn't connecting correctly. I had to power down the phone earlier because it froze to black screen and I couldn't escape out of it and ever since then its been problematic. My Mobile network icon says "standby for connecting to mobile network" I'm not sure if thats bad or good, never actually looked at it. Any help or am I gonna want to do a factory reset?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI decided to try the WiFi hotspot available through 2.2. GREAT! Actually worked quite a bit better than I thought it would. Only trouble is, ... now I'm back at home, it fails to connect to the home network.

WiFi sees the network, says "Connecting", comes up "Failed to connect", "Scanning" and loops on that sequence. I know the router's working because this laptop is using it right now
I installed the official 2.1 update. I'm loving a lot about it. However when i installed a barcode reader like Barcode reader and Shop Savvy, I lost all connections to the internet, the market, Email, and even the weather. I was able to use the phone and text, but that was it. Then last night I installed the XDA keyboard, and I again lost all my data connections except phone and text. Is there a setting I need to change? or any other ideas for how to fix this issue? I should be able to install apps and not loose data connections. Should I try reinstalling the update?
Also, the battery seems to last just a tade less longer than 1.5 did. But no worries there. Would like to install apps without loosing connections. Photoshop, Google Goggles, History eraser, Astro file manager, Google maps (update i think), Shazam, Facebook, 3Banana notes, and Pandora. All that is on my home screen that might interfer with something is the clock with the weather widget, the people favorites widget, and that's all. Otherwise the home screens are just icons to the apps I use. Not sure if any of this helps sovle my problem.
I just got the Evo on Sprint today. Everything works fine but cannot download any apps. I have spent several hours today going through various message boards. I have rebooted the phone several times. I updated the profile and PRL. I have turned on the wi-fi and turned off the wi-fi. I downloaded the HTC sync to my laptop and tried connectig through there (really just reaching for straws at this point).
I even found this procedure and did this as well "1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button. 2. Wait for the screen with the 3 Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button. 3. Press VOLUME DOWN to select CLEAR STORAGE, and then press POWER. 4. When asked to confirm, press VOLUME UP Regards"
I want to make http connection which ensures that it is done through wifi only,so that I can not be charged for the transfer of packet from GPRS or 3G network.
It means what ever the connection available I can use only wifi that I want to ensure through Application itself.
I am using samsumg galaxy. But whenever I try to download anything from the browser it says "waiting for data connection" for some time and then says download unsuccessfull.

When watching live streaming content using NFL Mobile app over my wifi connection(which is Cox Cable), the feed loses its connection after exactly five minutes of streaming. At the five minute mark, the feed will freeze and the V-Cast loading icon will appear spinning, then an error message will appear saying that NFL Mobile could not establish a connection. Back out at any point during this and hit the button to play live content, live content will work again flawlessly for exactly five minutes. Then the feed will freeze, etc...There are no problems with live streaming content when I am using 3G. I have tried using several different routers at different settings and the problem occurs the same with all of them, and I have no problems with streaming content over wifi other than NFL Mobile. This problem also never occurred with the versions of NFL Mobile prior to the current 2.0 version. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? The app streams much better over wifi, but that's not worth having to restart it every five minutes. A big reason of mine for being with Verizon is the NFL Mobile app so if anyone knows anything please let me know.

I added the Internet Permissions in the Manifest file and it works fine. Now i want my application to make the same HTTP requests over WiFi network through which the handset is connected.

We live in the sticks and we get a bit of a G connection here, maybe 1 bar if we are lucky.
What I've found is that my samsung galaxy S with android 2.1 uses the G connection no matter how bad it is despite a perfectly good wifi connection here.
It's only if the G cononection completely drops and the red no entry sign appears to show us that the carrier isn't available at all that suddenly the phone uses wifi.
Is there a way to change the provider order so that the phone will use wifi before g/3g ?
Is it possible that I can relay my wifi internet connection using this feature? I tried but when I start tethering, it automatically stops my wifi connection.

I run with wifi on all the time and have a handful of networks I connect to but would like the phone to automatically disconnect from wifi when 4G is available then reconnect if it is lost.
