I just rooted my recently acquired Evo for one really intersting app, the wifi tether app for root users. im pretty sure i rooted my phone correctly and i am on 2.2. The problem i am getting is that my computer picks up the wireless connection but it still says i have no internet connection and it doesn't work.

for whatever reason today we lost our internet connection at work. Now I work for an airline doing charters and today we added a second flight to each shift. So I tethered my phone for the 3g and just plugged it in at the end of the day to charge it. Needless to say it handeled 300 passengers/customers easy. Changes, bag fees, checking in and selling for a solid 8hrs today! I don't think I'll ever get another cell phone ever. Maybe a bigger SD, but phone, probably not.

A friend suggested a droid and tethering it using pdanet to my Mac. I use my internet primarily for browsing, sometimes I'd like to watch hulu or small pdf files through e-mail. Would this be a good option to consider or should I go with an internet connection? If I choose a droid, which one is the best one for tethering? I'm somewhat drawn to the ones with touch screens and no keyboards....but will listen to your reviews.
Supposedly verizon has a bandwidth limit of 5gb. Anyone know if that is monthly? How much is 5gb? Am I going to find myself a month out hating that I made the choice to rely on a droid for my primary internet source? Is there anything else I need to know about tethering a droid to my mac? Are there restrictions for OS X? Is there anything else I should know so I don't get the phone and hate myself later?

My phone is connected to my home wireless and it even has really strong signal but going on the internet simply doesnt work. Going on with mobile data works, but connected to my main wifi source doesnt. I've been trying everything from dailing *#0011# to changing the ips and gateways and whatever. The problem is that I will have, say, my laptop, or any device for that matter, connected to my Droid and I am able to maintain a steady internet connection for about a minute. After that, the tethering application reports a download speed of 0.0kbps. If I disconnect my laptop (or other device) and reconnect it, it'll start to work again, but only for about another minute. Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Have set up Portable Wi-Fi hotspot on my 4S 4.2.2. Everything seems OK and laptop identifies AP and connects to it

I am working on an Android application which does http request and download contents etc. I want to test such cases on Android Simulator. I am using Android SDK 1.6.As my computer(Mac OS X) has Internet connectivity via Wifi, I'm trying to activate Wifi connectivity in Android Simulator as well, so that my code can get data connection access to download the data from http server. But when i try to connect it, it says 'Unable to start Wi-Fi' in the simulator wireless settings. If i try to browse in emulator browser, it says 'page not available, check connection etc'. Can you please tell me how to have Internet connection on Android Emulator? I don't know how to set Wifi settings in Android simulator. Could someone help me on this?

Both programs start up correctly and allow me to enable to wifi tethering but I can't get any device to see the wifi connection they are creating. I have tried both scanning for the network and trying to manually connect to it by typing in the SSID but I can't get any device to see the network. I am always having a problem of the client computer just dropping connection and no longer can find the broadcasting signal. Seems like the phone just stops broadcasting randomly. Only way to fix it is to disable and then enable the wireless tethering again. This happens about every 10-15 minutes, on any computer I try. Work, home, shop, everywhere. I also tried wiping the phone completely and re-installing the app. Is there a more reliable wireless tether app out there?
