View 12 Replies View RelatedA buddy has an app on his non-hero phone that is voice activated and it will pull local directory assistance from the net.I have searched for an app like this, but I cant find anything.It is like a local phone book or directory assistance online.We needed to find a liquor store and he said ABC into his phone and it gave us all the locations within a 30 mile radius.Anyone have any idea of a Hero app that does the same thing?

My father, has been looking into rooting. physically he has the exact same phone as i do, make model, appearance, but it's from a local carrier in his area, ntelos. i've been searching forums and it doesn't seem to be recognized anywhere, so does anybody have any suggestions?

I tried changing and deleting the cache in the browser, tried changing the local settings, nothing wants to work? Right now I have set my homepage to the English version using the url codes, but that is only a temp fix.

I have barely a light leak under my home buton (somewhat thankful that this is my only problem haha) but i like things being perfect and i want to start exchanging evos until my standards are met. But i would like to know if i have to drive an hour or if i can drive 3 mins to the one down the block.

According to XDA member, EyesLikeOlives, he/she recently had a discussion with some Sprint rep who declared HTC EVO 4G is downgrade able from Android 2.2 Froyo to Android 2.1 Eclair.Spoke with a customer service representative from Sprint while moving my replacement HTC EVO 4G from one phone line to the other and asked if he knew of a way to "down-grade" from Froyo to Eclair. His response was this:"I checked the information regarding the degradation of HTC Evo software, you can visit our Sprint store to change the software of your HTC EVO to 2.1 . We will change this for you without any cost."We really don't know if the above mentioned discussion/proposition holds true for rooted HTC EVO 4G owners running Android 2.2 Froyo. View 36 Replies View RelatedMy sprint store has finally recieved the new batch of evos this week. I exchanged mine for one today (had some bad screen light leakage all over the phone and it was slowly growing). immediate thoughts:
Yhe back is noticeably grayer than my old one.
The camera has metal shavings (correct term?) and isnt as "polished" and smoothed as the old one. But it really isnt bad..actually feels rugged and more secure ^^.
Screen colors seem..more realistic?..i believe it is an epson now.
Sensitivity seems just a tad bit better...tested it on my old Evo this morning and it was definately slower.
The bottom and sides seem a bit more sealed than before..although not as much as I'd hope for but i guess i have to give it a week to see if the screen starts separating like last time.
And it is hardware version 3. my old one was 2
So...has anyone else gotten a replacement Evo? and if so, notice anything different?..feedback would be great. oh and I'll get back on the battery and if it's different at all (charging right now).
So I bough a couple games from the Sprint store (online) a couple years ago, including Bejewled, Deer Hunter and Tetris. I have changed phones a couple times since then, and was able to redownload them free of charge because it kept records on my account of them. Now I have my Evo and cannot figure out how to get back to the Sprint store site, so I cant get these games I have already paid for. Any ideas?

I rooted my sprint HTC hero and installed CM6 on it the other day, and everything is working great... except voicemail. I was using the Sprint VVM app, and that worked, but I got that annoying SMS message with each new voicemail, so I decided to switch to Google Voice (for voicemail only). It seems to work, except when my friends (who also have Sprint) call, and I don't answer the call, they either get a fast busy signal or they hear a voice say something like "Call cannot be completed. Goodbye" and then it hangs up.
Calling from land-lines and other cells seems to work ok? I just enabled Google Voice today, so do I need to wait a certain amount of time before it works Sprint to Sprint, or? Has anyone else seen this before? I should mention, it only happens on unanswered calls. If i dismiss the call before it's done ringing, it properly goes to google voicemail.
Is there a way to send text messages automatically when entering sprint network. Sometimes I send text messages while on the train. I set it to Sprint only to avoid roaming charges. My old phone would automatically send. This one I have to resend. Are there settings to auto send when entering the sprint network?

View 18 Replies View RelatedI went from a stock 1.5 to 2.1 using the Sprint 2.1 RUU and all is well. I understand it's a dev build and as such is already root but when I trying installing android-wifi-tether (both 2.0 and 1.6) it all looks well except when I touch the icon to start and it fails. The 1.6 version did report I didn't have root.
What do I need to do in ADB/shell to ensure the proper permissions are there for AWT? This is the last thing I want to get working and I'm happy.
Do I need to remount the filesystem as rw? Add superuser? Not sure what's needed.
I have a rooted hero on sprint with unlimited data but I found out that o can tether my xbox but , I worry now Sprint may catch on to my tethering and may surprise me with a high bill since I haven't paid for mobile hotspot Not that I wouldn't but it is not available with my phone . So should I worry ?

Google Voice & Sprint... 11/08/09 Inside Sprint Now. I've read tons of forums, discussions, web sites, and there's a lot of conflicting information and some Sprint reps are getting confused on this, it's new.
However, here's my general understanding:.................
Is anyone else interested in how Google voice will affect calling minutes? If you currently have your GV number set to call your Sprint cell and your incoming call is from another cell phone will you be charged for the minutes? If you setup your phone so GV is used to call all numbers that you dial will you be charged for calling other cellular number because GV masks the number? I have been through every level of support that Sprint offers and no one can answer me. Sadly tier 3 technical support told me "Google Voice is useless on a cell phone and you would not want to use this anyway". I had nothing more to say after that!
View 10 Replies View RelatedWhen traveling near my home area I encounter areas with no Sprint service. The phone roams into Verizon network which is very strong in my area. Beginning last week when I attempt to make a call when roaming on Verizon I get a message stating Verizon can not verify this phone number unable to make call. I contacted Sprint about the problem. They suggested a few things i already did, update PRL and profile etc.... which did not help. They told me there was nothing they could do because they cant guarantee service on their phones when roaming. This baffles me because phone roamed fine on Verizon for 6 months all of a sudden it doesnt. Any ideas on how this can be fixed? About 30 percent of my home town has no Sprint coverage so I guess I am just SOL.

The Blackberry charger does fit, and charges, but i was just wondering if anyone had any issues. I went to the sprint store and asked them, but they said that they "heard" it would mess things up. But obviously they just wanted me to buy a car charger from them.
