I just rooted my evo 4g so I can tether to my iPad aim using. Barnacle and a tether app called wireless tether both r free in the market when I try to use barnacle it says FAILD TO SET AP-SCAN I don't know what that means aim sorry aim a lil on the stupid side n when I to use the wireless app it says aim sorry your phone is in a unknown states does that mean n how do u fix it some please help me fix this problem.

The problem I am having is trying to use a VPN connection over the Barnacle Wifi. Is this even possible ? Or maybe possible with a different wifi tethering app? I have tried connecting to my VPN first with the Droid and then turning on the Barnacle Wifi Tether which doesnt work. Then I have tried starting up the Wifi Tether and then trying to connect the VPN from the Droid and also tried connecting to the VPN using my iPad connected to the barnacle wifi, with no luck.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI really want a free wifi tether, from what I have read barnacle is very good, and keeps AT&T from seeing that I'm tethering. Here is my journey thus far:
1. search barnacle on app market: no results
2. download double twist, search for barnacle, find it, scan the barcode. It recognizes it as barnacle. Sweet. I press the button to continue to app market, market opens, says "can't download that" or "error" or something.
3. Find the barnacle apk. online, download it to my computer, connect my captivate to my computer, throw the apk. file onto the captivate. Sweet! Now I have the apk. file on my phone at long last................
As the title, I downloaded barnacle about 2 weeks ago and could not get it working on my phone then visited the makers site on my laptop. Found a link on there to the settings needed to make it work on the X10 and here it is: Set LAN to athwlan0 Thats it! So if your rooted you can turn your X10 into a wifi hotspot and run what you want on it! 2 laptops and a PS3/Xbox? no problems. Let your poor friend who needs to use wifi to go online with their phone? No problem.
Apparently you can even let an ipad go online via the app and it is bloody fast I use a dongle for internet and although its on the same network as my phone the phone is lightening quick at sending data! Once connected it will show up as your only connected to a local network but it runs via an adhoc network so will only show a local connection. There are a few other minor connection details but you should find the answer with playing with it or just post on here and I will try to help.
i have an ATT xperia x10a flashed to 2.1 and rooted. I have titanium so i know the root worked. When i try to search for barnacle wifi tether in the marketplace nothing shows up? Also internet nor marketplace work without wifi, texting does though. There is no 3G or Edge symbols beside my bars either.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've rooted my Eris and have am wanting to use the Wired Tether app. For whatever reason, I cannot get my Windows 7 PC to connect to it. If somebody could walk me through the steps to get it connected, I'd greatly appreciate it. I have searched and come up empty on results. People say it asks to update/install drivers, it needs ndis drivers, etc, but I'm not sure exactly what all that means or even how to do it. For example, to even get to that point, which option do I select on my Eris when I connect it? Sync? Charge only?
View 20 Replies View RelatedI have been trying for weeks to try and tether my XBL with my Android. I have been trying it wireless type and wired. The wireless type I've been using the WiFi tether app along with the xbl WiFi. When I turn on the WiFi router on the XBL, the Droid tether shows up and connects just fine, however, It will not connect the profile to xbl. Any one have any ideas here ?
The other I've been trying to get to work is doing the wired route and by going into all my settings and changing them over like you would doing the open server deal. I dunno threw the properties and adding the XBL ports. Now the problem I have with this I can change just about every port to one another by port 2 and port 5. Port 2 needs to be 53 TCP / UCP < that one. When I switch to accept it tells me that I have the same ports being used. I've tried this method on a friends computer who is using Windows 7 and it works just fine changing ports wise.
I just found this on my phone. What is it, is it to use my phones. Data allowance on a PC or laptop. Something like a dongle for mobile broadband. Do I just connect USB to phone and com press start and then it uses my 1gb off my phone data?

Barnacle used to work on this laptop .. but I was running windows 7 Pro and Velocity V2.I am now running Windows XP Pro and Velocity V3 with the GNM Turbo 4 with kernel.In case it matters,the laptop is an HP EliteBook 8440p.I've been working on this issue for about 8 hours.on and off.
Why does it seem to me that using my 54mbps wireless adapter with WIFI tether on my fascinate seems faster (and gets better speed tests) over connecting to USB2.0 over PDAnet? shouldn't USB connection be faster?

Didn't see many threads mentioning this app for root users. It looks pretty robust and pulling about 2gbs and 400kb up. Will update post with any problems or other remarks. Anyone else using this?

Both programs start up correctly and allow me to enable to wifi tethering but I can't get any device to see the wifi connection they are creating. I have tried both scanning for the network and trying to manually connect to it by typing in the SSID but I can't get any device to see the network. I am using a Droid X with the official 2.2 update rooted.

I got an app called Barnacle Wifi Tether and when I try to run the app, it says permission denied and it doesn't ask for superuser permission. When I go into terminal emulator and type in su it says permission denied.I forget the code to manually give SU to something like Barnacle...I'm tech savvy but not Droid savvy yet so be gentle!

I only have interest in rooting my phone if it's the only way to share internet with my Netbook. Wifi isn't all that important to me, and seeing as I've completely and utterly failed at doing the Unrevoked method for rooting... I'm hoping I won't actually have to root my phone after all.
I am new to this forum, I came looking for help with the barnacle app and found a great forum for everything android, I am sure it will come handy.My problem is that my barnacle app disconnects when the phone screen turns off. I stay connected to the barnacle wifi signal but no Internet, in the barnacle app I get connection errors, I just need to stop the service and restart for the problem to be fixed, this only happens when the screen turns off so now I have the screen always on when tethering but that is not good form the battery.I have auto killer installed, I tought that it was the problem, and that auto killer was turning off the service but I uninstalled auto killer and problem persists, I have no other task manager installed.

I had been using a Nokia N97 Mini which had behaved OK and I've been using Joikuspot as a WIFI tether which is important because of my need for the internet during the day. I was really please to find that the Galaxy has an inbuilt tether application in the Mobile AP however I cannot get it to work and wondered if any one else had any issues? The Mobile AP kicks in ok and I can find it on my laptop however when I try to connect it just tells me that it cannot connect and goes into trying to diagnose the problem. I tried to bypass this by inputting the wireless connection manually but when I do it tells me the security option is wrong but does this for every option in the list.
