View 4 RepliesLike the the post says my wireless tether no longer works( at leat not fast ) with any of my 2.2 nandroid backup I have all the wireless thether downloads ( the 2.0.2 and all the 2.0.5 versions ) and they just stoped transfering or transfer really slow. By slow I mean it will take anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute sometimes longer for a page to load. This is the case with all my 2.2 roms Damage Control 3.5, Baked Snack 1.0 and 1.5, Fresh 3.something and even my stock 2.2 rooted rom. This is the case with any kernel and I have been using various Kings, (but tend to stick with Netarchy's kernels) All with the same problem. Everything else works flawlessly.
This wouldnt be a big deal except I use wireless tether everyday for homework so it is a must have for me. I had to use the tether feature on my wifes Palm Pre (you know how that made me feel) I have her phone overclocked to 800mhz and it felt as if her battery was going to melt or explode, which usuall happens if you use it for too long. I had to get an Ice pack and put a towel on it to keep the phone cool while tethering.
I even tried it with flashing new room and kernel and the only app being all the versions of the wireless tether. That still was a no/go.
I however did find a solution but not a good one. I had a nandroid back up of a HTC 2.1 stock rooted rom with Nand unlocked and with the FPS un capped. This however when I look for wireless networks to connect to on my computer, it shows up as 3computer connected together instead of the 5 escalating bars like in the att comercials (dont ban me for that)
but it works perfectly and lightning fast. The version I'm usuing is the 2.0.2 version not any of the 2.0.5 versions.
I know this is a bit drawn out but can anyone explain why this happened? I mean it worked one night and the next it didnt. Or can someone can someone explain why it works on 2.1 and not on 2.2?
I miss some of my 2.2 feature but there are none that I can't live without but I would like to be on the latest software version.
I have a rooted Motorola Droid running the Barnacle WiFi tether app which has been working great. The problem I am having is trying to use a VPN connection over the Barnacle Wifi. Is this even possible ? Or maybe possible with a different wifi tethering app? I have tried connecting to my VPN first with the Droid and then turning on the Barnacle Wifi Tether which doesnt work. Then I have tried starting up the Wifi Tether and then trying to connect the VPN from the Droid and also tried connecting to the VPN using my iPad connected to the barnacle wifi, with no luck.
View 2 Replies View RelatedCan anyone else get barnacle to work after updating to 2.2? My computer was connecting fine before. It sees the barnacle in wireless network list but says it cannot connect to the wireless network. I already uninstalled barnacle and dl'ed again, but that didn't fix it.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAny suggestions on how to get it to work? it used to before i switched to the newest leaked 2.2 rom (8/26 or 27 i think) with the bloatware already uninstalled.
View 25 Replies View RelatedI don't understand the difference. It seems a lot of people are trying to get Wireless tether to work on the ally but I don't understand. Barnacle works just fine. Is there some sort of difference?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having issues getting the 2 wifi tethering programs to work correctly. I just rooted for the firstt time today. Both programs start up correctly and allow me to enable to wifi tethering but I can't get any device to see the wifi connection they are creating. I have tried both scanning for the network and trying to manually connect to it by typing in the SSID but I can't get any device to see the network. I am using a Droid X with the official 2.2 update rooted.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just rooted my 2.1 droid. And i downloaded wireless tether and it said something about incorrect tether.Help please. Then i bought setcpu and that seemed not to work.
View 5 Replies View Relatedhow to make wireless tether work? I see the network from my iPad and then back to my phone, but no internet access. What am I doing wrong?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI just installed the wifi tether. i opened the app up, changed my ssid, and pasephrase. I then went to my laptop to search for wireless networks and I can't find my droid. What could I have done wrong. also...i thought maybe I had to turn on wifi in the phone settings. when I went to turn on, it said it was unable to turn on wifi. I went back to the tether and turned it off but the phone settings still could not turn on wifi.
View 10 Replies View RelatedLooks like a very neat (and free!) app. Requires root access, but that's not a huge deal. Barnacle Wifi Tether - Easiest Tethering for Motorola Droid. Barnacle Wifi Tether - Android app on AppBrain. Might be a good thing to try out.
View 5 Replies View Relatedso how do i get this app to work. I just rooted with the sholes mod updater rom. I plugged my phone into the computer with the USB cord and selected mount and ran the app and hit the big green wifi icon to connect. What else do i need to do? or if anyone has got links to how to get this app to work that would be great too. Oh and also when i connect the USB cord, on the notification bar and triangle with an (!) mark shows up and talks about some debugging stuff. What is that? does that have something to do with the wifi?Rep for who ever helps me get this thing to work.
2.2 OTA, rooted via z4 root, superuser; wireless tether; deodex; revolution theme
Cannot get wireless tether to work anymore. It gets superuser permissions, My laptop detects the network, it connects to it, but I cannot load any pages and nothing is being sent up and down except for 3-4 kb.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, resets, etc. My root seems to be fine.
I really want a free wifi tether, from what I have read barnacle is very good, and keeps AT&T from seeing that I'm tethering. Here is my journey thus far:
1. search barnacle on app market: no results
2. download double twist, search for barnacle, find it, scan the barcode. It recognizes it as barnacle. Sweet. I press the button to continue to app market, market opens, says "can't download that" or "error" or something.
3. Find the barnacle apk. online, download it to my computer, connect my captivate to my computer, throw the apk. file onto the captivate. Sweet! Now I have the apk. file on my phone at long last................
I have a droid X I just got not very long ago at all and a friend told me how to use the rooted version to play xbox live and things like MW2 online using the tether...so I think I rooted my phone it says it is.
I used androot and it seems to have rooted my phone however it does not ask me permission(yet i literally just downloaded it) now my question is this:
I have downloaded wireless tether for root users version 2.0.1(I am running 2.1 update1) I am not sure if that was the correct version...but I am online so I assume so.
How do I open the NAT settings on the wifi however? that is the whole point of me doing this charade and I cannot figure it out. I try to play MW2 online and it says they are strict.
As the title, I downloaded barnacle about 2 weeks ago and could not get it working on my phone then visited the makers site on my laptop. Found a link on there to the settings needed to make it work on the X10 and here it is: Set LAN to athwlan0 Thats it! So if your rooted you can turn your X10 into a wifi hotspot and run what you want on it! 2 laptops and a PS3/Xbox? no problems. Let your poor friend who needs to use wifi to go online with their phone? No problem.
Apparently you can even let an ipad go online via the app and it is bloody fast I use a dongle for internet and although its on the same network as my phone the phone is lightening quick at sending data! Once connected it will show up as your only connected to a local network but it runs via an adhoc network so will only show a local connection. There are a few other minor connection details but you should find the answer with playing with it or just post on here and I will try to help.
i have an ATT xperia x10a flashed to 2.1 and rooted. I have titanium so i know the root worked. When i try to search for barnacle wifi tether in the marketplace nothing shows up? Also internet nor marketplace work without wifi, texting does though. There is no 3G or Edge symbols beside my bars either.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI cannot seem to get my wireless tether to work. My phone is unrevoked 3, fresh 2.2, netarchy kernel, latest tether software that supposedly fixed it. It is set up identical to my wife's who is 2.1, unrevoked and hers works fine. Slow compared to my t=mobile HTC HD2 tether but it works. WHat could be wrong with mine. I tried using it through bluetooth and no dice.
View 7 Replies View RelatedHelp, how come I can get this working with 4G, but not with 3G?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHow does wireless tether work? I know that it can receive a WiFi signal but it can also transmit one? Just curious. Also, is the new WiFi tether coming in the OTA going to be faster than the root one? The root WiFi tether is fine, but I most certainly wouldn't mind faster.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have the original Droid. It is rooted with easy root application. I had originially installed 2.2 from a non-ota update site. Rooted my droid and installed wireless tether. It worked great. I then received the OTA update for 2.2 FRG22D. Now wireless tether won't start up. I also tried using Barnacle Wifi Tether and it is getting a permission issue. It won't prompt me to grant superuser permissions to this app. So I need help either getting wifi tether working or figuring out how to grant superuser permissions to Barnacle to get that working.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOn my netbook, i can''t seem to get a connection to stick in xp. It will say "connected" but then jumps to connect to the other wireless router signal I have in the house. I tried shutting down the house router, and I just could not connect. I have Ubuntu installed on an sd card so I booted said netbook into that. Wireless tether works fine there. I need wireless tether in windows, though. For work. I am using 2.0.5 -pre11 version.
Is there another version that I should be using? Slightly aggravated as I've been at this for an hour and a half now. I know i've seen threads to this effect, but can't seem to get the right info at this point. Also, could someone please confirm thier wireless network adapter settings on the laptop side? I assume it's auto -acquire for both ip and dns, but wasn't sure.
Best way to tether with latest ota? Does unrevoked still work for the latest ota? Do I have to flash a new Rom? What is the easiest way if really all I care about is wireless tether?? Sorry for nob question, just trying to understand it all.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI need help getting wireless tether working. it shows that that its beaconing but when i search for it under wifi on my laptop nothing shows up. (My aunts phone) Rooted Lg Ally with velocity V0.3, Turbo 4 kernel overclocked to 787 Mhz
View 3 Replies View RelatedI haven't rooted my X, but I'm considering it. I like the idea of wireless tethering. I have a question tho. After you root, do you use the wireless hotspot app already on your phone, or do you need to download another app to use. I'm not quite brave enough to try this yet, but as a previous BB Storm user I tried nearly every upgraded OS that was leaked and never had an issue. The universal androot app looks pretty fool proof.
View 6 Replies View RelatedAnyone else having issues with Wireless Tether just freezing now? I uninstalled it and am going to try and reboot and see what happens.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got my epic last week and had it rooted within hours. I have to say, I do love this phone. But I have noticed a slight inconvenience. I have installed the wireless tether app, and it works like a charm. No problem connecting other gadgets to it. But once I'm done tethering, and switch back to using wifi, the phone doesn't seem to want to connect to my home's wifi. I've tried reseting the phone, manually killing the tether app, and force closing the app under the applications tab in settings. But still no connection. Eventually, after 30mins or so, th phone will be able to connect once again. Has anyone else had this issue? It just seems somewhat of an unexpected problem, and a minor inconvenience. Any information on this or a possible fix would be greatly appreciated.
