After not being able to get "android wifi tether" to work with my iPad, I downloaded Barnacle from the market and it is working flawlessly. Didn't see many threads mentioning this app for root users. It looks pretty robust and pulling about 2gbs and 400kb up. Will update post with any problems or other remarks. Anyone else using this?

I have turned it on, waited 1,5,10 and 60 minutes and pushed associate
No matter what I do I can't get it to broadcast. Any help would be appreciated. If someone else has barnacle running please tell me the settings and steps you used to get it running.
I have a rooted Motorola Droid running the Barnacle WiFi tether app which has been working great. The problem I am having is trying to use a VPN connection over the Barnacle Wifi. Is this even possible ? Or maybe possible with a different wifi tethering app? I have tried connecting to my VPN first with the Droid and then turning on the Barnacle Wifi Tether which doesnt work. Then I have tried starting up the Wifi Tether and then trying to connect the VPN from the Droid and also tried connecting to the VPN using my iPad connected to the barnacle wifi, with no luck.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAlright so, I've recently rooted my phone and I installed terminal emulated, I have superuser permissions and I'm semi-familiar with both. I got an app called Barnacle Wifi Tether and when I try to run the app, it says permission denied and it doesn't ask for superuser permission. When I go into terminal emulator and type in su it says permission denied.I forget the code to manually give SU to something like Barnacle...I'm tech savvy but not Droid savvy yet so be gentle!

I currently use June Fabrics PDANet and you have to install software on the desktop in order for it to function. Is there an App I can install on my non-rooted Motorola Droid 1 without needing to do anything besides just plugging the phone into the desktop?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am rooted on the Droid 1 with a stock FRG22D kernel and ROM.I downloaded WiFi Tether from the Market.I tried it out on several different laptops using different Windows OS.It appears to work great as long as Access Control (MAC Filtering) and WEP are turned off.If either is activated, all data transfer ceases. Other posts have also noted this issue which appears to be associated with the stock FRG22D kernel.My question is has anyone flashed a Froyo P3 or other kernal that will allow Access Control or WEP to work as intended with the stock FRG22D ROM. I am happy with the stock kernel and ROM but will consider switching if I can find a compatable kernel or other configuration.Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using the Wireless Tether for Root Users app, and I'm getting terrible speeds.Speeds I'm getting are: 634kbps down, 106kbps up. Is this normal or is something wrong with my setup?
