i have an ATT xperia x10a flashed to 2.1 and rooted. I have titanium so i know the root worked. When i try to search for barnacle wifi tether in the marketplace nothing shows up? Also internet nor marketplace work without wifi, texting does though. There is no 3G or Edge symbols beside my bars either.

As the title, I downloaded barnacle about 2 weeks ago and could not get it working on my phone then visited the makers site on my laptop. Found a link on there to the settings needed to make it work on the X10 and here it is: Set LAN to athwlan0 Thats it! So if your rooted you can turn your X10 into a wifi hotspot and run what you want on it! 2 laptops and a PS3/Xbox? no problems. Let your poor friend who needs to use wifi to go online with their phone? No problem.
Apparently you can even let an ipad go online via the app and it is bloody fast I use a dongle for internet and although its on the same network as my phone the phone is lightening quick at sending data! Once connected it will show up as your only connected to a local network but it runs via an adhoc network so will only show a local connection. There are a few other minor connection details but you should find the answer with playing with it or just post on here and I will try to help.

The problem I am having is trying to use a VPN connection over the Barnacle Wifi. Is this even possible ? Or maybe possible with a different wifi tethering app? I have tried connecting to my VPN first with the Droid and then turning on the Barnacle Wifi Tether which doesnt work. Then I have tried starting up the Wifi Tether and then trying to connect the VPN from the Droid and also tried connecting to the VPN using my iPad connected to the barnacle wifi, with no luck.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI really want a free wifi tether, from what I have read barnacle is very good, and keeps AT&T from seeing that I'm tethering. Here is my journey thus far:
1. search barnacle on app market: no results
2. download double twist, search for barnacle, find it, scan the barcode. It recognizes it as barnacle. Sweet. I press the button to continue to app market, market opens, says "can't download that" or "error" or something.
3. Find the barnacle apk. online, download it to my computer, connect my captivate to my computer, throw the apk. file onto the captivate. Sweet! Now I have the apk. file on my phone at long last................
Just bought a new X10.I switched on my mobile and it shows SIM card unavialble.Strange though I can make and receive calls.Have tried to sync my old Nokia 6500c with my new one but was not able to do so.

My husband has an iphone with MyWi on it, however whenever I try to search for his network, it says I'm not in range and basically won't recognize it. View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently rooted my x10. Everything is going awesome so far except one thing. I have no idea where my voice search went. I re-flashed it with an unbranded rom (R2BA026) and voice search is missing! I don't know where to go from here.

I tried searching the Android Market for this, but no luck. I've also tried sending a text from the Google site, but clicking on the link, after I received the text, just gave an error message.

I see in some videos the google search bar in 2.1 is suppsoed to to have the little microphone icon to activate voice search. I flashed 2.1 rodgers firmare onto my x10a and when the phone boots I can see the icon for a few seconds then it deisapears!! Anyone else with the same problem? Was it something taken out by rodgers in their version of firmware?

Suddenly after having it worked smooth for 3-4 days, I started getting a very strange problem which I was not able to search anywhere in forums or in the help manual.My address book search is not searching any contacts by the contact's names. It is just searching the emails, it's a huge problem for me especially when trying to send SMS to anyone, I can't go and add recipient by searching, I need to scroll the whole way down to that contact, which is irritating.
Otherwise the phone is quite nice and I am liking it very much. Especially the slide out keyboard is really usable plus unlike most smartphones, it's really small in size and performs most functions. There are some minor flaws but most of them are going to get fixed with the SE's much awaited software update for bringing in the Android 2.1, no doubt I am also waiting desperately.
I set up my google account when I first received the phone and everything. However now when I open up the home screen the Google Search bar has disappeared. Gone into Basic settings > Setup Guide to check details but Google Account settings not even listed! (Just SIM Contacts; Time & Date; Email; Facebook; Twitter; Sync) Have checked Applications and it shows Google Search (enhanced) as the default setting but it is not showing up on my screen either as the search bar or in the applications. Have tried taking out and re-inserting the sim card. Any ideas on how to get it re-instated?

I just rooted my evo 4g so I can tether to my iPad aim using. Barnacle and a tether app called wireless tether both r free in the market when I try to use barnacle it says FAILD TO SET AP-SCAN I don't know what that means aim sorry aim a lil on the stupid side n when I to use the wireless app it says aim sorry your phone is in a unknown states does that mean n how do u fix it some please help me fix this problem.
