Looks like its up to Sprint now.
According to this post @MoDaCo, T-Mobile are hoping to have the update available to users by close of business today (Friday 2/10/2009).
Cross those fingers!
I've got my ALL notifications turned on for my IMAP email account (which is set to check email every 5 minutes).
That means I should hear a notification tone, I should feel a notification vibration -- and I should see the notification light.
Absolutely none of those things are happening. When my phone is sleeping -- I get no light, no audible tone and no vibration.
It very well may be operator error on my part -- but this phone is going back if this isn't resolved.
I wonder if the local sprint store will have a good stock of evo accessories on hand for the release of the evo? i hope so cause the day i get my evo is the day i want my dock as well as a mini hdmi adapter

View 7 Replies View RelatedI was wondering what people do to limit the phones that can purchase my app on Android Market. I image I can limit this to some extent by using the API levels in the manifest but can I limit my app to just Droid/Milestone? I have only tested the app on these phones so I can't be sure that it will work on others. There are known issues with the Milestone and choosing an OpenGL config, among other issues, that I had to work around so it's not unreasonable that other phones can have similar issues. Also how do you do dynamic licenses via http post?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with firing an activity that extends MapActivity. When it gets called, it throws a java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError... not sure what this is supposed to mean. I think something goes wrong with the external implementation of the maps API (maps.jar). Has anyone come across that problem? Here's the srack trace:

if there is one, to a kernel that includes the FPS fix and overclocking for 2.2? I installed the Ava release, and XDA is saying that the [Kernel]netarchy-toastmod, FPS 'fix' for Epson + Nova, now with hdmi - Version 3.7.5 - xda-developers is not supported on 2.2.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI am following the instructions on code signing on the Android Developer site, and it mentions that if you specify that you want to compile in Debug mode, it automatically signs the resulting file with a debug key. It also says that if you specify that Eclipse should compile in Release mode, that you can use the Export Wizard to generate a private key and handle the distribution signing.
Can someone point me to the setting in Eclipse for Release vs. Debug compiling. When I use the Export Wizard, I am only given the option to export unsigned. I am pretty sure I am stuck in Debug mode, since my app has no problem running in the emulator or my tethered G1.
Any word on how the evo is doing as far as number of sales? I haven't heard anything at all. Which is kind of strange usually after the first week or two a number is released.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBeen using SwiftKey beta since Swype stopped working consistently and I got a notice this to upgrade to a final version (directly in advance of the Market release next week. It's definitely worth and it's learned my input habits so I hit just one button for most words. Just thought I'd let other users know.
View 36 Replies View RelatedJust curious if anyone is worried about getting a phone that is new on the day it is released. Last time I did that I was very disapointed. (VZW Storm 1 owner.) I waited in line to get this PoS and have hated the majority of time I have had it. Anyone worried about something like this with Droid X?
View 21 Replies View RelatedI signed up for this forum because I had recently gotten my Eris and it seemed very appealing to have a online community which was devoted to such an amazing piece of device. Anyways the question is regarding the 2.1 update. I know many of you are like go search. But the thing is that this question has not been asked a lot from what I have seen on the forum. So considering that Verizon has the update, why are they toying with us and why don't they just release it all over the nation or on the Verizon site already?
View 30 Replies View RelatedI have a so called reliable resource who works in the T-mobile store, and so far he has been right about anything to do with G1. He predicted the OTA release, and that was right, but he has also said T- mobile will be releasing the cupcake to t-mobile customers in uk end of March. Of course all i/we can do is wait. if anyone has any information to back that claim it would be appreciated. I know there's loads of cupcake talk that has been going on for months. but i believe this is the real thing, else he wouldn't jeapordise these claims to get people to buy the G1 and then get hundreds of complaints if it didnt happen
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf I was to root my phone will i still be prompted to update to 2.1 once orange and HTC realse it OTA? Or will I have to do it manually through the HTC website when it comes out?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm getting this error ( in the end of this post) which I guess I understand it's because I'm calling something after releasing it.. but I can't find a wy to work it around.I've tried all combinations.. I've tried: mCamera.setPreviewCallback(null); This class, where the surfaceview is implemented can be accessed by 2 different classes one that doesnt implement surfaceview and other that does the error just shows me when I go from the activity that uses the camera to the activity that also uses camera.I don't know what else to do.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHTC Evo Getting Minor Software Update Next Week? "A Sprint source has leaked to BGR that the HTC Evo will mostly likely be getting a software update on June 28th. The update would bring improved Wi-Fi (802.11n, we're guessing), fix Exchange issues and repair a battery-draining problem with the official Facebook app. Why Sprint continues to have their Nascar app run in the background of all Evos at all times, we still don't know." First, I do realize EVO is Sprint, however, HTC is releasing the update. The Incredible has been out longer and we've been aware of "issues" from the beginning. I sure wish theyd have taken care of the Incred problems before taking care of problems with a phone that was released after the Incredible. Sure maybe the hold up is Verizon and not HTC but who knows. Its still irritating to see something like this and still have no idea when we are getting are software patch/update.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI have been debating rooting and using Fresh 1.1 and was possibly going to do it over lunch today at work, however, i have a question:
With HTC releasing the kernal for 2.1 for the Hero today, what does this mean for me (the unrooted Hero user looking forward to 2.1)?
Is it any indication as to the update being released soon? I know the 99.9% answer to that is "it's up to Sprint to release it" and the 100% answer to that question is "your guess is as good as mine", but historically speaking, when the kernal for a build is released, what timeframe usually exists between kernal release and upgrade release? I guess the bigger question is, what exactly is a "kernal"?
I know most everyone is going to say "root, once 2.1 is released, the cooks will have the rooted version available shortly after" or "root, and if it does come out, you can always flash back the stock RUU and upgrade OTA then", but the think is, I dont' want to root and then with my luck, 2.1 gets released next week
Just looking for some insight/best guesses.
Also, while on rooting, I actually brought a separate microSD card to make the Nandroid backup on. Is this a good/bad idea? Is the best way to do this to make a copy of the SD card on the PC, do the root and flash with a clean card) and then copy everything back to the card? I have an 8 GB card that is nearly full. Don't know how much space is required on the card to root/flash.
It doesn't seems as if the the stop and release immediately terminates the audio played by the MODE_STREAM track. It looks like it finishes playing the rest of the buffer and then stops.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to change free app into paid app in Market? I.e. you release com.foo.xxx as free but later you'd like to charge for app and drop free version completely.. I do not see anything like this in Market console at the moment. I know I can release com.foo.xxx.pro for example but my intention would be to keep package name as is so current users would see there's upgrade available. Alternatively, if there's no way to do that can I completely remove app from market so com. would be reusable for other app?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAll I'm baffled as to how this Market works. I was expecting a different version of the Market by now but things still seem awry. Say I have two apps - one free, one paid. I release updates to both. The free one is at the top of the list, but the paid one is down in the depths of the list. That kind of sucks. Is this really how it works? Or is something temporarily broken.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to figure out a way to programmatically determine if my build was built in debug mode vs. release mode. I'd like to hide some items in my settings screen if it's release. When I build my app in Eclipse I'm building by default in Debug mode. However, when I build the app using the command line, I build it in release mode and sign the app using the jarsigner tool.
I've tried using:
PackageInfo appInfo = manager.getPackageInfo("com.adobe.psmobile", PackageManager.GET_SIGNATURES);
to test if
appInfo.signatures[0].toCharsString()
matches my debug signature and that didn't seem to work.
I'm now trying to see if I can introspect the app's KeyStore, to match the default debug alias described here:
http://developer.android.com/guide/publishing/app-signing.html of "androiddebugkey"
but I haven't figured out how to retrieve the app's KeyStore yet.
Maybe now they've sorted the Galaxy Tab out they can concentrate their efforts on sorting out 2.2 and / or a GPS fix for the Galaxy S!
