View 9 Replies View RelatedI've heard that this should be coming to Verizon before Thanksgiving? Is there anything to support this? My contract is currently up and I'm wanting to get an Android phone (and this one looked cool) but I don't want to wait too long if it isn't going to be available reasonably soon. Also, are there ant charts comparing all the different phones coming out soon?

View 49 Replies View RelatedLet me begin by saying that I will be purchasing an EPIC 4G on release day (whenever that may be) no matter when it is Now to my point, the lack of information and outright secrecy being employed by Sprint regarding the release of the EPIC 4G is downright moronic and piss-poor marketing. I know that some mindless idiots will say "oh see, see.... the fact that you are talking about the EPIC proves their strategy is working!" Well, I say BOLLOCKS! his isn't creating hype or excitement, all this is doing is pissing people off and causing Sprint to lose more and more potential new customers to VZW and ATT. I mean, there are some powerhouse devices (Droid 2, BB Torch, iPhone 4) that are going to be readily available apparently before we will even know for sure when the EPIC will even be released! If Sprint wants/expects people to wait for an EPIC, then they need to tell us when it will actually be available.

View 5 Replies View RelatedOne thing some of you over-clockers may not be aware of is, the over-clocked kernel that you flashed to your DROID is based off of the 2.0 kernel. Some folks are reporting issues again that were present before the 2.0.1 update i.e. crackling audio, LED and keyboard back-lighting dysfunction, etc. Actually, I have yet to experience any of these issues.
This isn't bad news, mind you. Just a little something that we can look forward to as the new & improved kernels become available. I still have high hopes that the official 2.1 release is going to be a very optimized ROM/kernel for our beloved DROID. And when that kernel gets over-clocked.
UPDATE: I have since removed the CompCache from my DROID. I would get reboots when I tried calling anyone.
How to build latest linux kernel from off site for Android device (for example Nexus7)?
I have: AOSP source code

View 8 Replies View RelatedI wanted to compare the results of the two different methods of installing this update.I wiped everything by installing the leaked RUU 2 days ago and I must say my phone's performance has significantly improved. My quadrant score went from 525 (stock) to 1365 (after installing the leaked Froyo) neither score was rooted.Scrolling seems much faster and the optical pad is a lot smoother.I'm hearing some people who installed the OTA saying that their phone has been laggy and hangs when scrolling.I've been running the official Froyo for the past 2 days and haven't experienced this. Can we get some feedback from some people who have installed the RUU vs OTA.
View 49 Replies View RelatedOrange haven't had any since 26th August and won't have any until the 8th!?! What the hell is that all about lol my mate is going mad. He's called 'em up to upgrade, got a mint deal but now has to wait to receive a text to tell him that they are in stock (Like that is ever going to arrive He's been told that they receive them on an add hoc basis, sometimes 10, sometimes 700. Sounds a bit slack if you ask me. Does anyone think that there is a connection between a delayed Froyo release and low stock? Don't forget that they were blaming stock shortages on the success of the Galaxy S because it slowed down the production of the HTC as Samsung apparently manufacture the screens for both. wish I could treat my customers like this
View 16 Replies View RelatedTel me that is the latest version of the Froyo for the Galaxy S EU version ? I`m in Romania and updating with key`s doesn't work (tried absolutely everything!)

What is the latest ROM pete has put out? Has he done a BB for the froyo if so a link? Did some searching last night all (I think) I am finding are the OTA ROMs that have come out that he has rooted. Is that all there is, been sitting on 2.1 and decided to make the jump.
View 8 Replies View Relatedwe have an estimated time frame on when HTC should be done with Froyo to have it released to the carriers.Android 2.2 Froyo Update: HTC Release Date Plans in 2010 : Product Reviews Net This thread is a little different though. There are several broad time frames out there in various articles. The consensus on what HTC said seems to be that they will be done in the second half of 2010 no earlier than July 1st.Here is my guess and let's all hope I am way off base.If HTC decides to use the same exact version of Sense they could be done by July 1st.I doubt they will do that because HTC loves being innovative with their software. With an update as big as Froyo should be I think there will be some big changes/additions to Sense UI. So with that said let's say HTC finishes in August.
Now it is Sprint's turn. I think they will drag their feet just like any other device update.First I believe they are going to really want to get rid of the biggest Froyo addition that they will likely see as a disadvantage, Free WIFI Tethering. On top of that I don't believe there will be many people complaining about an OS update. I think we make up a small percentage of the people that will actually buy the EVO. And half of us will just flash custom roms, so I doubt they will feel they need to rush to get an update out for us to use.
I just bought a rooted Nexus One with a FRF83 build preinstalled. It's been working great but I keep getting messages about installing OTA updates but they always fail (says E: No signature (575 files) E: Verification Failed) I tried manually downloading the FRF85 and FRF91 update, copying as update.zip to my SD updating from the recovery menu but it still gives the same error. From the little info I've found online it may be an issue with the ROM but I can't tell for sure. My ultimate goal would be to go back to stock Android with the latest official Froyo build.

Desire Kernel for Teppic74's ROM - xda-developers
I've heard many good things about richards v5 kernel but I don't want to OC or do anything crazy. I just need the sd card read fix... maybe the gpu+ fix and no OCing as I do want to keep my battery life as is.
Is there any way to emulate an android froyo with normal kernel and everything a normal android phone has? Including a market and recovery mode. I want this mainly because I feel terrified by the thought that I might brick my phone flashing a custom rom and I am a beginner so I never tried anything complicated with it. So before I try anything over my phone I want to try this on an emulated phone.
