According to this post @MoDaCo, T-Mobile are hoping to have the update available to users by close of business today (Friday 2/10/2009).
Cross those fingers!
My g2 touch says Firmware Version - 1.5
Build Number - 2.73.110.26
Software Version - 1.00.A6288
Is the most up to date version available for the t mobile y2k touch? If not how do I upgrade?
Have problems with receiving/installing the much awaited 2.1 update for their T-Mobile Hero (G2 Touch). It took me a while after figuring everything out by myself since both T-Mobile and HTC support have been absolutely inept at providing a solution.
You may have tried moving the phone's date forward a couple of weeks as suggested by T-Mobile and you'll probably get the pop-up notification window, but when you try and install the update the screen goes black with a warning triangle and it freezes.
1- First of all BACK UP all your data! This is because updating the phone will erase all data on your phone and reset it to it's factory state. I use My Back Up Pro, it's very easy to use and you'll be able to restore everything, from your pictures, music files, apps, etc to your messages, contacts and so on. It will even restore all your shortcuts and replace them exactly where you've placed them on your home screen(s). If you have a lot of files I suggest you back them up online as your SD card may not have enough space.
2- Download and install the latest ROM from the HTC website, you can do so here: http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=283&cat=2&dl_id=775.
This is where some of the confusion arises. You may think that you have the latest ROM on your phone (you can check by going to Settings-About phone-Software-Build number. It should be 2.73.110.26. However if you've downloaded it from the T-Mobile support website it is NOT the same as the one on the HTC website DESPITE having the same number, and it's this that's preventing your phone from receiving the notification for the new 2.1 update and installing it. Confusing eh? So, download the ROM update and install it on your phone following the simple instructions.
3- Once your phone has installed the ROM it will restart. Finally, the notification pop-up will appear! Tap 'Install'. The phone will start installing the update without any glitches. You may also get a second pop-up notifying of a second update. Proceed as before. I suggest you do all this over Wi-Fi as it's a huge file.
4- Again, once the installation is complete your phone will restart and you'll be able to enjoy the new features. It's like having a new phone, better interface, better graphics, better performance!
5- Finally re-download My Back Up Pro from the Market and restore all your stuff. Again, this is best done using Wi-Fi. Notice: When restoring data, if your Contacts and Calendar are synched with your GMail account, UNCHECK these from the list that shows up.
I'm a pretty new T-mobile G2 Touch (HTC Hero) user. I got it 2 weeks ago. So today I shoot my first video with it. I used the default settings. Such as: Encoding type: MPEG4, and I shoot it with the sound on. When I finished I could reviewed the video on the Hero, along with the sound. But the problem showed up when I transfered the video on my PC. Firstly the file showed up like 3gp file, not like MPEG4, and when I tried to play it with VLC it showed me some problem and play back without sound. And the video quality was 3gp quality, although it was set to high resolution and MPEG4 format.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHave had my Hero since Friday, and so far i'm loving it - apart from a couple of minor teething problems, which i hope you can advise me on. I apologise if these questions have been answered before - i have done a thorough search (of the web, too!) but not found exactly what i'm looking for.
My main problem seems to be with Peep - i like the interface and would be more than happy to use it as opposed to downloading another app, but it seems to be very temperamental with the updates/notifications. I have it set to update/notify me every 15 minutes - which it doesn't. And when i go into Peep myself, (even if i do a manual refresh) it rarely gets the latest tweets. I downloaded Twitdroid to try, but this force closed about 4 times before i got fed up and uninstalled it!
There seems to be an annoying lag on the phone too - reading about, it seems this MAY have something to do with being logged into Peep?
Should i do a ROM upgrade - would this help? Build number is 1.76.110.6 (if i'm looking at the right thing!)
Oh, and apparently my hubby texted me a few hours ago, too - this hasn't come through either!
I have a G2 touch UK and the USB cable that plugs into the phone end has not got a mini usb port but rather something shaped like it but not quite the same. Tried a usb to mini usb adapter on it and it wouldn't fit. What connection is it? It's not micro usb either.

ROM Upgrade for HTC Hero_2.73.405.5
just download and updating looks all going smooth.
This is the same update will go to Orange. apart from Orange will update and add their on logos' and crap.
HTC beginning Froyo rollout tomorrow? Maybe, maybe not -- Engadget
Looks like its up to Sprint now.
I've got my ALL notifications turned on for my IMAP email account (which is set to check email every 5 minutes).
That means I should hear a notification tone, I should feel a notification vibration -- and I should see the notification light.
Absolutely none of those things are happening. When my phone is sleeping -- I get no light, no audible tone and no vibration.
It very well may be operator error on my part -- but this phone is going back if this isn't resolved.
About to buy my first android phone . I have tried the windows mobile, I am currently a blackberry user and I am about to but a My touch. Can the android os import the contact list from Microsoft outlook?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe're evaluating Sencha Touch for mobile development. Has anyone used this yet (I realize that it's still in beta), and if so, what are its strengths / weaknesses? How does it compare to alternatives?

View 3 Replies View RelatedAre following touch events supported by android platform or we have to implement them?
Touch event - Used to focus an item Tap - Execute action when finger is released Tap and hold - Long tap for some timeout Double tap - Tap twice without much delay Flick - Touch, hold, move and release quick Drag n drop - Touch, hold and drag Touch and move - Touch, hold, move and release in straight line
Wondering here if there is a way I could trigger an event, so that any library listening for these events (e.g. jQTouch, Sencha touch, iUI, ... ).
If I could extend or use jQuery for such task e.g. $(...).trigger('event') that would be great to know.
Usage example:
I need to debug a few web apps by simulating multi touch with my mouse. This seems a little complicated, so if I could trigger the multi-touch events using Javascript I could therefore test the app more efficiently.
I'm developing an HTML/Javascript mobile web application using Dashcode. Normally I wouldn't use such WYSIWYG stuff, but I've found it a very rapid development process.
Unfortunately it seems like I can't get it to run on Android's browser currently. The main display loads and all the correct data is pulled from web services, but you cannot press on anything to activate it.
I suspect that the android browser is sending different javascript events, which the Dashcode objects are not configured to pick up.
In addition, the adb logcat debugger refuses to output any log messages from the browser on the emulator, and as such I'm having a very hard time sorting this out.
What events I need to be watching for, so I can iterate over all the touch handlers and duplicate them for the android events, or offer help in any other way on this situation?
I am entering mobile development. I have been working primarily in .NET since 1.0 came out in beta. Before that, I was mostly a C++ and Delphi guy and still dabble in C++ from time to time. I do web apps quite a bit so I am reasonably proficient with Javascript, JQuery and CSS. I have also done a few Java applications. I started web programming with CGI and live mostly in the ASP.NET MVC world these days.
I am trying to decide on which platform/OS and tool to select. I am concerned with the size of the market available for my applications as well as the marketibility of the skills I will pick up.
The apps I have in mind would work on both phones and pads. Some aspects of what I have in mind will play better on the bigger screens that will be available on pads.
Here are the options I am considering:
Apple iPhone/iPad using pure Apple SDK (Objective-C)
Apple iPhone/iPad using Mono Touch (C#)
Android using pure Android SDK (Java)
Multiple platforms using something like Titanium to generate native apps from web technologies (HTML, CSS and Javascript)
Multiple platforms using HTML5 web applications that run in the browser (HTML, CSS and Javascript).
HTC G1 is perfectly capable of multi touch support. Please guys implement that in the next OTA update if possible. I understand is something that Apple Created with their Iphone, but G1 has a lot of petential and multi touch i needed for the sucess of this product. Google works with Apple and I am sure you can implement that feature with the phone.
View 7 Replies View Relatedhow to update to a new OS since Google can seem to get it right (unless someone already has) . I've had two phones on two different carriers turn to crap after updating. When I updated to Gingerbread on my droid incredible, my bluetooth went to hell. When I updated my Epic 4G touch on sprint, my bluetooth, battery and bother things went to hell. All I did on both was click update. Maybe next time I should do a factory reset first? The crazy thing is that I even rolled back to gingerbread on my Epic 4G touch but my bluetooth never really recovered. Should I also remove all my pairings first?

View 3 Replies View RelatedCheck me if I'm wrong here, but wasn't the 2.1 update for the Droid supposed to include multi-touch on the keyboard? Mine definitely doesn't appear to have this functionality (as observed while holding down one key and pressing another one). View 2 Replies View RelatedOkay so here is another strange thing I noticed with the update.2 of the 3 phones that got the update now have a little home icon on the bottom of one of the touchwiz screens when you are in the edit mode. This page with the home icon can now be moved to whereever you want it in the positioning of the 1-7 screens you have and when you click on the "home" key at the very bottom it will go to that screen. Previously there was no home key and your home screen was either the middle or far left screen depending on the number of screens you had.

I've lost Multi Touch Zoom on the Dolphin Browser Since the 2.1 update.
The native browser will not multi touch zoom either (I thought this was supposed to be included in the update).
Any ideas? I can't find a setting to turn it on.
Yesterday I was having fun trying out the secret codes (like *#*#4636#*#*) and tried out the touch screen code. Then clicked on update (firmware).
Then the touch was not working. I tried taking out battery and putting it back on. Tried factory reset after backing up data with Kies. Tried rooting the simplest way. Tried to flash using Odin with a recovery and pit file. Still nothing is working.
My phone has just updated to software version 2.10.405.2 so far I cannot see any difference and have any notes on to why or what has changed.Anyone offer any help please?
