View 6 Replies View RelatedThis might change some people minds. Sony Ericsson X10 2.1 update release date (supports multi-touch after all!) . It doesn't seem categoric, but it sure sounds exciting. I have to say that an X10 with 2.1 and multi-touch would be the best Android phone this year!

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've heard that this should be coming to Verizon before Thanksgiving? Is there anything to support this? My contract is currently up and I'm wanting to get an Android phone (and this one looked cool) but I don't want to wait too long if it isn't going to be available reasonably soon. Also, are there ant charts comparing all the different phones coming out soon?

View 49 Replies View RelatedLet me begin by saying that I will be purchasing an EPIC 4G on release day (whenever that may be) no matter when it is Now to my point, the lack of information and outright secrecy being employed by Sprint regarding the release of the EPIC 4G is downright moronic and piss-poor marketing. I know that some mindless idiots will say "oh see, see.... the fact that you are talking about the EPIC proves their strategy is working!" Well, I say BOLLOCKS! his isn't creating hype or excitement, all this is doing is pissing people off and causing Sprint to lose more and more potential new customers to VZW and ATT. I mean, there are some powerhouse devices (Droid 2, BB Torch, iPhone 4) that are going to be readily available apparently before we will even know for sure when the EPIC will even be released! If Sprint wants/expects people to wait for an EPIC, then they need to tell us when it will actually be available.

Multiple users have confirmed it has successfully updated their phone (my self included). I will be testing whether it works after an ODIN back to Stock and will post back my results here.
I just got off the phone with Tmobile since my visual voicemail wasnt setup, and took the time to ask if they have any word on an update to their android line up. He said he just received an email today from up top that yes Tmobile is working with Google to provide an update to the Cliq, Behold II, and myTouch(Not sure if I heard G1 or not).So the fact that the reps have gotten word of it makes me feel alot better about this. And his understanding was the Cliq would be first but the rest to follow not long after that.
View 24 Replies View RelatedThe official 2.1 is finally here! I have been trying to get a confirmed feature list for the 2.1 update and I haven't been able to find one specific to the hero. I know there is some variation between our update and the 2.1 running on the nexus one. I want to make sure to utilize all of the new bells and whistles that come with the update but I can't find a complete list. Any help would be great. so when will the "When is 2.2 gonna come to the hero?
View 17 Replies View RelatedI posted a a few days ago about my Hero not syncing with my pc. In short, although the phone charges, neither the hero or the pc recognize each other. Nothing happens. I tried various computers and cables to no avail. Yesterday, I took it into a sprint store to a guy I know is knowledgeable with the Hero (he is the manger and uses a hero) and even he was stumped. I just bought this phone used. I still am within the 30 days to purchase insurance for this phone. Is my only option to purchase insurance, pay a $50 deductible and send in the phone to get fixed?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI signed up for this forum because I had recently gotten my Eris and it seemed very appealing to have a online community which was devoted to such an amazing piece of device. Anyways the question is regarding the 2.1 update. I know many of you are like go search. But the thing is that this question has not been asked a lot from what I have seen on the forum. So considering that Verizon has the update, why are they toying with us and why don't they just release it all over the nation or on the Verizon site already?
View 30 Replies View RelatedHTC Evo Getting Minor Software Update Next Week? "A Sprint source has leaked to BGR that the HTC Evo will mostly likely be getting a software update on June 28th. The update would bring improved Wi-Fi (802.11n, we're guessing), fix Exchange issues and repair a battery-draining problem with the official Facebook app. Why Sprint continues to have their Nascar app run in the background of all Evos at all times, we still don't know." First, I do realize EVO is Sprint, however, HTC is releasing the update. The Incredible has been out longer and we've been aware of "issues" from the beginning. I sure wish theyd have taken care of the Incred problems before taking care of problems with a phone that was released after the Incredible. Sure maybe the hold up is Verizon and not HTC but who knows. Its still irritating to see something like this and still have no idea when we are getting are software patch/update.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI did a bit of searching on here, and definitely did my due dillegence researching online, however, I was unable to get confirmation on a few points regarding the Hero. I'm hoping someone here can provide some insight. 1. I understand that with Android (unless you mod it, which I most likely will not be doing) you cannot run applications from the SD Card. That being said, the Hero comes with 512MB internal storage, and say hypothetically, I have 350 contacts, never delete text messages or call log and have 60 apps installed (most likely, no games, which i understand take up the most room), will the storage provided suffice? What gets stored on internal memory besides apps? 2. Has visual voicemail been confirmed? I've seen Sprint documentation stating it was, however, I haven't seen it referenced or demonstrated in any of the 25 or so reviews I've read. 3. How does the calendar, mail and contact clients stack up against WinMo? I rely heavily on my calendar, as it's synced with my company's exchange server. It basically keeps my life organized on every level, so I'd really need it to be pretty solid. Again, I haven't really seen this touched on in any of the reviews. Same with mail. Contacts I guess I've seen reviewed pretty extensively because of the integration it has with all of the social networking and whatnot, so my main concern are the calendar and the mail clients.
View 6 Replies View RelatedJust posted on XDA by designgears : I897ucjh7 - not froyo, - xda-developers. Looks like it's the final test firmware before the official release. Word from those that have flashed is that they are getting a GPS lock, Indoors. Also, it Looks like updates to the phone will be done with Kies, not OTA. Also has been said that it's pretty quick and the lag issue has been addressed.
View 49 Replies View RelatedIf I was to root my phone will i still be prompted to update to 2.1 once orange and HTC realse it OTA? Or will I have to do it manually through the HTC website when it comes out?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been debating rooting and using Fresh 1.1 and was possibly going to do it over lunch today at work, however, i have a question:
With HTC releasing the kernal for 2.1 for the Hero today, what does this mean for me (the unrooted Hero user looking forward to 2.1)?
Is it any indication as to the update being released soon? I know the 99.9% answer to that is "it's up to Sprint to release it" and the 100% answer to that question is "your guess is as good as mine", but historically speaking, when the kernal for a build is released, what timeframe usually exists between kernal release and upgrade release? I guess the bigger question is, what exactly is a "kernal"?
I know most everyone is going to say "root, once 2.1 is released, the cooks will have the rooted version available shortly after" or "root, and if it does come out, you can always flash back the stock RUU and upgrade OTA then", but the think is, I dont' want to root and then with my luck, 2.1 gets released next week
Just looking for some insight/best guesses.
Also, while on rooting, I actually brought a separate microSD card to make the Nandroid backup on. Is this a good/bad idea? Is the best way to do this to make a copy of the SD card on the PC, do the root and flash with a clean card) and then copy everything back to the card? I have an 8 GB card that is nearly full. Don't know how much space is required on the card to root/flash.
Newbie here. I am very serious about getting the new Spring hero. As an airline pilot traveling outside the US I have a question as to the GPS function. When I turn on the phone in another country to use the GPS function how do I update the date and time and approx location so the gps knows what sats to look for? If I don't have phone/network coverage, and I probably won't how will or update?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI was told several times during Sprint Chat session that I could go into a Sprint Store 2 weeks before my 7/1/2010 upgrade date and get my upgrade on an EVO. So I got put on a waiting list and my phone came in a week before 7/1 but they said there was no way they would do it even if I was told during a sprint chat session that I could. Was the agent on Sprint Chat who told me I could just a complete idiot?

View 4 Replies View RelatedNow that we are on 2.1, Juice Defender works on our phones. I have been running it for a couple days, and I think it is helping. Still need to do some better calculations. Once loaded, I did shut off Power Manager, as I think they conflict on some of the settings. Anyhow, has anyone else loaded it on the official 2.1 release? What's your experience?
