Other than downloading Dolphin Browser, which I may be the only one on here who doesn't like it, is there a way to keep the notification bar locked on top of the browser. I like to see the battery life and time and such.

I am new to Android and just recently purchased an eris. I have noticed that you cannot access the notification shade in the browser. This is frustrating because you cannot check notifications while browsing the web. Is there anything I can do to get the shade in the browser?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSince the 2.1 OTA update, my Droid Eris has been a little slower and little buggy. Which I'm not that concerned about. But today, I cannot drag down to unlock my screen. When I hit menu, it does nothing. Is there another way to shut down the phone when you cannot unlock the screen?
'Sorry if this is an utter newb question, but I think if I can power down an restart the phone, I may be able to unlock my screen.
Regarding the lack of Predictive Text or XT9 on certain applications: I contacted google with the following bug report:- Steps to reproduce the problem. Verizon Droid Eris (stock, 1.5 i think): tap the magnifying glass to search the web. use the 9-key phone pad method of text input.
What happened."XT9" text input is locked. only "ABC" or "abc" available. What you think the correct behavior should be. All android applications and functions that accept text input should support XT9 predictive texting for the 9-key phonepad and compact-qwerty. The google folks said the following: "Android does not contain a T-9 input method by default. Please report this bug to HTC, owners of that particular piece of software."And then HTC said the following: Hello Ben Thank you for contacting HTC technical support about the abc/xt9 being greyed out. I have checked on this for you and found that is how the device is set up when using these areas on the apps. There is no way of changing this and I do apologize for that. When entering google searches and also browser addresses predictive text is not available for input. If you have any other questions feel free to reply. This will be my first of many questions....when my Eris is in lock mode and a call comes in there is no option to decline the call. The screen says "slide to unlock the phone and answer the call" but if I want the call to go to voicemail I Have to let it keep ringing. also how do I get music from Itunes into the Eris?
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo the packaged YouTube app will start playing a video and lock somewhere close to the beginning. I was trying to play something this morning and I would get somewhere between 7 and 10 seconds before it just stopped. I had to back out and try again.
Well after trying it 3 or 4 times with no luck, I finally went into my browser and got in through there and it was fine. So after this fiasco which was about 5 or 6 minutes tops, I noticed that my battery had drained 15%! 15% in 5 minutes! Thats so broken!
I am always changing the volume accidentaly, especially while I am streaming Pandora or slacker when my screen is locked. Also I keep accidentaly turning my ringer down. Is there a way to totally disable the volume buttons or at least make them less annoying?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've tried AutoLock and LockBot and maybe I didn't set an option correctly, but I can't seem to get a password or pattern unlock after a reboot/power off/on cycle.Both work fine during normal power on operations, but when I power cycle the phone it just comes up with the normal swipe unlock right into an open Eris with no password/pattern required. Kind of defeats the purpose by allow a bypass of the security.Maybe I'm missing something here or having a Homer moment.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust wondering, on 1.5, the Ringer/Alerts volume was locked together so however loud the Ringer volume was, the notification volume would be the same. Since upgrading to 2.1 OTA, they are no longer linked together. Is there any way I can link them back together so they are they same volume without having to individually change each one? It's kind of annoying when I set my Ringer volume to low, and all of the sudden I get a text and it's almost 3 times as loud.

I guess its just wishful thinking on my part that they might actually be coming out with a fix finally, or better yet 2.1.

I can not remember the google email address for the phone and now i can not access the phone. Orange customer service has told me to get in touch with google, in order to delete the old account [whatever that may be] but there is no number for google customer service.

For the past few days, when I try to open a browser, it closes. I was using Dolphin HD, thought it was a bug with that app, so downloaded regular Dolphin. Same deal, so tried Skyfox then Opera and the stock browser. They all keep closing.
Is there anything I can do or should I just call it quits and get the Incredible?
When using the stock browser, I am able to go to and see actual websites whereas using the dolphin browser, entering the same web addresses leads me to the mobile version of the website. I rather the actual website. I tried looking under the settings of the dolphin browser for a fix but to no avail...

I have the stock browser cache set to the 6mb max that the app settings allows--but it sometimes ends up larger than that when I go to clear it in the Application settings. How is that so? Also, how exactly does the cache work? Does it store visited pages then keep adding to it until it's at the max storage? Do older cached pages get bumped for newer ones? Does the browser get sluggish if the cache is full? (I haven't noticed any issues myself.) Finally, if I set the max cache setting for less than the 6mb cap, (say, 3mb), will that make the browser less efficient at loading pages? I'm curious since the stock browser doesn't use SD card for storage and cuts into the main phone memory.

Why doesn't Opera Mini 5 get some love? Could it just have something to do with the cache? Maybe the more and more I go into the website, the faster it should load?
