HTC Droid Eris :: YouTube Application Broken / Locked

So the packaged YouTube app will start playing a video and lock somewhere close to the beginning. I was trying to play something this morning and I would get somewhere between 7 and 10 seconds before it just stopped. I had to back out and try again.
Well after trying it 3 or 4 times with no luck, I finally went into my browser and got in through there and it was fine. So after this fiasco which was about 5 or 6 minutes tops, I noticed that my battery had drained 15%! 15% in 5 minutes! Thats so broken!

I know a lot of people have been having trouble with YouTube. I was experiencing these same problems. When i first got the phone YouTube worked fine, and then i started experiencing the following message. "Sorry, this video cannot be played".However i found that when i cleared my search history the videos would then play. For those that don't know how to do this. In the YouTube Application: Menu>Settings>Clear search history.You don't have to exit the application after clearing your search history but you may have to go back a page and then re-select your video.This has worked for me time and time again.

I just read an article about the improved youtube mobile site at m.youtube.com. I have used the youtube app since the ota that was sent out to fix it and downloaded an apk that allowed it to always default to HQ rather than having to change it each time. But I just tried out the mobile site and it is blazingly fast compared to the app. The only thing that would make me not use this over the app is that I didn't see a way to watch the videos in HQ. Am I missing something? Does anyone else have a preference for the mobile site over the app or vice versa?

youtube was fine up till root, now, it freezes the phone, or decides to give me a error playback message. anyone else have this prob? running the stock rom rooted.

I dropped my eris yesterday and the back popped off. When i put it back on i noticed the volume rocker was gone. i went back and looked for it but couldnt find it. I went to the verizon store today to see if there was a replacement for it. Or if i could buy a new back for the phone because thats what he rocker is attached to but they told me no. So does anyone know what i can do? I know i can change my volume by going to settings but that is just a pain. Does anyone know a website where they might sell the backs for the droid eris?

So I bought a used Eris off Ebay thats volume down button was broken (not the rocker but the actual button that the rocker presses). I knew the button was broken when I bought it and I didn't really care for a while, but tonight when I was trying to fiddle with it, I accidentally popped it out. Is it worth opening the phone to try to solder it back on?Also, how do I navigate through the recovery menu without a volume down button?

Since the 2.1 OTA update, my Droid Eris has been a little slower and little buggy. Which I'm not that concerned about. But today, I cannot drag down to unlock my screen. When I hit menu, it does nothing. Is there another way to shut down the phone when you cannot unlock the screen?
'Sorry if this is an utter newb question, but I think if I can power down an restart the phone, I may be able to unlock my screen.

Other than downloading Dolphin Browser, which I may be the only one on here who doesn't like it, is there a way to keep the notification bar locked on top of the browser. I like to see the battery life and time and such.

I bought and installed a new screen (digitizer) in my Eris. The install went very well but now the proximity sensor doesn't seem to work properly. Most times when I place a call the screens goes blank and won't respond to any button inputs, Once the other party hangs up I get the screen back. But even this is erratic at times, not often, with the screen staying on all the time.
I installed Screebl Lite to force the screen on all the time and it works most of the time but seems to have a hard time figuring out the proximity sensor too.
Is there something I could have done to screw up the sensor when I took the phone apart? Everything else is working fine.

Regarding the lack of Predictive Text or XT9 on certain applications: I contacted google with the following bug report:- Steps to reproduce the problem. Verizon Droid Eris (stock, 1.5 i think): tap the magnifying glass to search the web. use the 9-key phone pad method of text input.
What happened."XT9" text input is locked. only "ABC" or "abc" available. What you think the correct behavior should be. All android applications and functions that accept text input should support XT9 predictive texting for the 9-key phonepad and compact-qwerty. The google folks said the following: "Android does not contain a T-9 input method by default. Please report this bug to HTC, owners of that particular piece of software."And then HTC said the following: Hello Ben Thank you for contacting HTC technical support about the abc/xt9 being greyed out. I have checked on this for you and found that is how the device is set up when using these areas on the apps. There is no way of changing this and I do apologize for that. When entering google searches and also browser addresses predictive text is not available for input. If you have any other questions feel free to reply. This will be my first of many questions....when my Eris is in lock mode and a call comes in there is no option to decline the call. The screen says "slide to unlock the phone and answer the call" but if I want the call to go to voicemail I Have to let it keep ringing. also how do I get music from Itunes into the Eris?

I am always changing the volume accidentaly, especially while I am streaming Pandora or slacker when my screen is locked. Also I keep accidentaly turning my ringer down. Is there a way to totally disable the volume buttons or at least make them less annoying?

I've tried AutoLock and LockBot and maybe I didn't set an option correctly, but I can't seem to get a password or pattern unlock after a reboot/power off/on cycle.Both work fine during normal power on operations, but when I power cycle the phone it just comes up with the normal swipe unlock right into an open Eris with no password/pattern required. Kind of defeats the purpose by allow a bypass of the security.Maybe I'm missing something here or having a Homer moment.

Just wondering, on 1.5, the Ringer/Alerts volume was locked together so however loud the Ringer volume was, the notification volume would be the same. Since upgrading to 2.1 OTA, they are no longer linked together. Is there any way I can link them back together so they are they same volume without having to individually change each one? It's kind of annoying when I set my Ringer volume to low, and all of the sudden I get a text and it's almost 3 times as loud.

Whenever I turn on Pandora then lock my phone, it will finish the current song then stop. So I have to keep the phone awake, or keep unlocking it to keep Pandora playing. Has anyone else run into this issue, and does anyone know of a remedy?

has anyone else noticed that with the 2.1 youtube app on the eris ROM if you go to my account and then your subscriptions you can't watch the videos of your subscriptions there? is that because the ROM hasn't been registered or something because it worked just fine with 1.5 (when you could get the videos to actually play).
