HTC Droid Eris :: List Of Known Bugs With Leaked 2.1 Update
Mar 5, 2010
Please sticky if so, and only have problems listed, possible solutions etc.Maybe we can keep the thread from being 12 pages long with people asking the same questions. (Including me). Many of us don't have the time or, patience to look through multiple page threads to find the answer we are looking for.

I know there are similar threads covering this topic but it seems that they have not been updated. I have been trying to keep up with the threads to see what problems are encountered/fixed but Do you think we could have a running list that can be updated as fixes are found?

Just curious what the bugs are that everyone talks about with 2.2
The only bug I notice is when I disable BT it mentions something about a SIM card.

Had a quick question - Did the update yesterday morning with no issues other than I can not find some of the apps I used prior to the upgrade. I can find them in the market, but when I try to use my phone to download, it can not find them. Note: I used Astro to back up most of my apps on the phone, these couldn't be backed up since they were marked private. And they didn't display in my downloads either after the upgrade. Digital Clock Widget: Silent Time: If I use my friends phone (same version prior to my upgrade), no problem finding these apps. Suggestions? I could always downgrade back to the previous version, but I was having some freezing issues that I hope this upgrade fixed...

So most of us are happy with our Droids, but we all have at least one item that we just wish Google would fix. Lucky for us, Google has a site dedicated to tracking bugs, issues, and feature requests!
So in addition posting questions here, go to Google's issues site and let them know directly! All you need to do is click the link and click the little white star icon. Issues with more stars will theoretically get more attention, so let's let Google know what we want.
I'll keep a running list of direct links in this post for everyone's convenience. If you want me to add more just post it in this thread along with a link to the issue.
Bluetooth Voice Dial Support
Exchange support for Global Address List
Exchange support for ActiveSync provisioning protocol
Exchange support for signatures
Exchange Calendar Appointment Invites have no accept or decline buttons
When headset is unplugged, sound does not return to speaker.
Issue 5853: Softbuttons lights on the Droid stay on while charging
Feature request: add support for GSM 6.10 8Khz/mono in a RIFF WAVE audio container
Issue 1151 Install apps to SD card
Issue 1181 [VoiceDial] Voice confirmation for Voice Dialer
Issue 3795 Couldn't unlock phone after "too many pattern attempts"
If any of these issues bother you, please take a moment to click the link and click on the white star to let Google know that it's important! Leave a comment for the devs while you're at it.
There are currently over 400 issues posted and you can add your own. This list is just for quick and easy reference for common issues among the readers of this forum.
Also, note - this is for issues with Android as a whole and not necessarily Motorola or Verizon.

I'm curious about what your experience has been if you've had to get a replacement phone. Have the bugs on your old phone been resolved, or are you still having glitches - either the same old ones or new one? Your evening quiz: Did you have to install OTA or was 2.1 already installed? If you had the problems with poor battery life, or poor signal, before, do you have them on your replacement?Anyone have any *new* bugs arise on the replacement that you didn't have before? Was the replacement (presumably a refurb) in like-new condition? Did you just pull the SD and swap it before sending the old phone back? Does it make a difference if you return it to a Verizon store, or directly back to Verizon?

Any contact previously synced using "facebook sync" (an app to download peoples faces into your phone's address book, now a built in feature of 2.1) Are missing after restore of backups. keyboard VERY slow and unresponsive/laggy during landscape mode. To the point of being un-usable 3g, or "H" in this case is sometimes slower, and often unresponsive, requiring a reboot or task kill. Sending icon blinks, but no recieving icon.

Android 2.2 (Froyo) is official and impressive This one doesnt come as much of a surprise, but its huge news. The newest version of Android Froyo, as in frozen yogurt was officially announced, despite the fact that weve known about it and its features for some time know. The big take-aways are that it is scary fast (2-5x faster than Android 2.1 for CPU-bound activity), browser Javascript performance is 2-3x faster than 2.1, there is a new data backup API, Android is more enterprise-friendly than ever, and app errors are now reported back to developers for better tracking and improving their apps in the future. The SDK was updated and devices get WiFi tethering as well. All told, its a big step forward for Android.Google I/O has revealed what looks to be the final list of handsets getting Froyo, they include:
Motorola Droid
Google Nexus One
Droid Incredible
HTC Desire
HTC Evo 4G
myTouch Slide
HTC has also suggested that all HTC phones launched in 2010 would get Android 2.2, and that launch dates for the updates would be released on a per phone basis. Most, if not all those updates will occur in the second half of this year. The upgrade to Froyo is desirable for all Android smartphones due to speed increases, updated APIs and services, the V8 Javascript engine, and new features in Android Market.I went to the HTC website and filled in a tech support request pleading that they update the Eris to 2.2 as with its slower processor it could use the speed increase more than newer phones can.

How is the leaked 2.2 for DX? Do you think that the leaked 2.2 is missing anything that the official OTA will have? I want to try out the leaked 2.2, but I have worries about the stability.

I don't know how legitimate this is, but I figured I'd post and see if anyone has any thoughts. It comes in at 55.5 MBs. I haven't tried it yet, wondering if anyone wants to?
I'm off to bed right now, I'll investigate further in the morning.

Does anyone have the leaked 2.1 rom and the PAID version of PDAnet working. I know that the app store does not have the paid apps available in it for the leaked version yet. I use PDAnet for internet for my netbook all the time for my business and need to know if it is still available and working on the leaked rom. Also is bluetooth tethering working now that it is 2.1?

I was following another site to see if the Eris was going to get rooted and I saw that a leaked update was discovered for the Eris. IT is suppose to be the one for January 22nd. It is not an Android update, just another update to fix any known bugs on the device. Has anyone on this forum tried it yet and if so what fixes did you notice.
I am including a few links to download it in case someone feels adventurous.

I upgraded to 2.1 last Friday and have been very happy. No issues thus far.Being an early adopter,I wonder if there any later versions then what I down loaded last week. Of course, I should think about leaving well enought alone.I have a working Eris with 2.1.

I know that i have read this here somewhere before but hes my question.
i want to say that the leaked version of 2.1 was around 100 megabytes and Earlier today i received the offical OTA 2.1 from Verizon and it was only clocked in at 77 megabytes.
Talking to my stepdad, he was very interested in how one version can be different in size but "be the same".
I know theres another forums around here stating the two are the same (checksums and file details) but whats taking up that extra 30 megabytes on the leaked version?

I have searched around for an answer to these two issues, but haven't been able to find anything. After doing the manual upgrade to 2.1 OTA, most everything is fine. However, Google Voice and Google Listen are having issues. Google Voice is giving me a Force Close message every time I receive a text message in Hand cent SMS (to my non-GV number). I don't actually use GV on my voice all that often. Google Listen seems to have lost all trace of any of my pod casts, including new ones that have come in since the update. Every episode on every pod cast has, just under the title: "Error (sd card/com.goggle.android.apps.listen/downloads/e55bee71)" The string of letters and numbers on each one is different. I used Astor File Manager to look in this folder and each of those files is not there. Some of these folders were downloaded a month ago (I'm a little slow in getting to some pod casts) and some I have listened to already pre update but still getting the error now. Some that I have listened to are not giving the error. And any that were downloaded after the update are giving the error.

For me, it appears so, sucks because latest Google Voice is great and the sole reason I want to go back to 1.5 (and then maybe the root 2.1 etcs)Confirmed for me, calls now show google voice number in latest google voice app! (as displayed in long list of fixes/improvements.) I definitely encourage any old Leak V2 users to upgrade that want the latest Google Voice!

For those stuck on the unofficial .3 version of Froyo, and would like to update to the official OTA .6 version, there's a leaked RUU that's out and about. Check out the link:

Please note that this can and will void your warranty and while no ill effects have been suffered, I nor this forum can be held responsible with what you decide to do with your phone. Use at your own risk! Warning! Under no circumstance should you reapply this patch over itself. I have seen two phones die over this. Dead as in, no power, no charge, do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars. Go directly to jail! I also recommend that you Do Not accept any official OTA while running this leak. It could lead to the same end result. Instead, its best you root, downgrade the HBOOT, and reflash with an RUU. First of all, make sure you are not rooted. So this means you will need to use an RUU (ROM Update utility) to revert your phone back to stock. You can get it from here:
http://tinyurl.com/22rotth
Run through the RUU. If you run into trouble with usb connection errors, or other troubles, you can try these suggestions. Having troubles with the RUU giving connection errors? Do this.
Go to start, and in the search/run box, type
%temp%
Delete all that you can. Make sure the RUU is not running in the background. Now run the RUU again. Once it starts to the first screen, it has extracted the files to the temp directory. You can then copy them to a safe place. It will be a long winded numbered folder, with a similar subfolder. Once you have copied it to a safe place, you can then copy adb.exe, fastboot.exe, and adbwinapi.dll from the latest SDK into it, overwriting the older copies. Then start the RUU by executing ARUWizard.exe. This fixed the problem for me.
Otherwise, you can also use the extracted files to create an image that HBOOT can load. Search for rom.zip in those files and rename it to PB31IMG.zip and put it on your sdcard. Turn off your phone and then hold DOWN volume and power to get into the HBOOT screen. Let it scan through the files and when it asks to run update, say yes and let it do its thing. It will reboot at least once during update. Once you are back to stock, you can now provide the leaked update. MD5 hash is 68518f450fd4b15c696441f5f93deff4. Link can be found here:
dinc_ota.zip
or
http://www.4shared.com/file/ON3qK3n0/dinc_ota.html
Copy this zip file to your sdcard, renaming it to update.zip. Now power down your phone. Hold DOWN volume and power to get to HBOOT. It will do its scanning thing. If you still have the RUU on there, say NO to updating and NO to rebooting. Once you get to the menu with fastboot, recovery, etc. choose Recovery. This will boot you to the stock recovery with an image with an! Hold UP volume and hit power. This will take you into the recovery menu. Choose apply update.zip, navigating with volume keys and hit the power button. Let it do its thing. It will then say reboot to finish. Navigate to reboot and hit the power button. Let it finish. It will reboot several times during the update.
That's the easy part of installing it. You can also root it with unrevoked tools (3.1 is the latest). Having Market Issues?
http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-incredible/125451-market-fix-leaked-ota.html
It is recommended you do NOT install any third party kernels until new source has been released.
Going back is NOT as easy and I will list this in another thread located here:
