HTC Droid Eris :: Leaked - ROM - RUU Desire C Verizon WWE 1.17.605.1
Jan 3, 2010
I was following another site to see if the Eris was going to get rooted and I saw that a leaked update was discovered for the Eris. IT is suppose to be the one for January 22nd. It is not an Android update, just another update to fix any known bugs on the device. Has anyone on this forum tried it yet and if so what fixes did you notice.
I am including a few links to download it in case someone feels adventurous.

I don't know how legitimate this is, but I figured I'd post and see if anyone has any thoughts. It comes in at 55.5 MBs. I haven't tried it yet, wondering if anyone wants to?
I'm off to bed right now, I'll investigate further in the morning.

Does anyone have the leaked 2.1 rom and the PAID version of PDAnet working. I know that the app store does not have the paid apps available in it for the leaked version yet. I use PDAnet for internet for my netbook all the time for my business and need to know if it is still available and working on the leaked rom. Also is bluetooth tethering working now that it is 2.1?

I upgraded to 2.1 last Friday and have been very happy. No issues thus far.Being an early adopter,I wonder if there any later versions then what I down loaded last week. Of course, I should think about leaving well enought alone.I have a working Eris with 2.1.

I know that i have read this here somewhere before but hes my question.
i want to say that the leaked version of 2.1 was around 100 megabytes and Earlier today i received the offical OTA 2.1 from Verizon and it was only clocked in at 77 megabytes.
Talking to my stepdad, he was very interested in how one version can be different in size but "be the same".
I know theres another forums around here stating the two are the same (checksums and file details) but whats taking up that extra 30 megabytes on the leaked version?

Please sticky if so, and only have problems listed, possible solutions etc.Maybe we can keep the thread from being 12 pages long with people asking the same questions. (Including me). Many of us don't have the time or, patience to look through multiple page threads to find the answer we are looking for.

For me, it appears so, sucks because latest Google Voice is great and the sole reason I want to go back to 1.5 (and then maybe the root 2.1 etcs)Confirmed for me, calls now show google voice number in latest google voice app! (as displayed in long list of fixes/improvements.) I definitely encourage any old Leak V2 users to upgrade that want the latest Google Voice!

Had a quick question - Did the update yesterday morning with no issues other than I can not find some of the apps I used prior to the upgrade. I can find them in the market, but when I try to use my phone to download, it can not find them. Note: I used Astro to back up most of my apps on the phone, these couldn't be backed up since they were marked private. And they didn't display in my downloads either after the upgrade. Digital Clock Widget: Silent Time: If I use my friends phone (same version prior to my upgrade), no problem finding these apps. Suggestions? I could always downgrade back to the previous version, but I was having some freezing issues that I hope this upgrade fixed...

Our HTC Droid Eris. is no longer showing up on Verizon's website. It's still in the support pages, but not in their smartphone "line up" page. Anyone know if it's still displayed in stores?

Is the Eris at end of life as far as OS upgrades? I have 2.1 now and am wondering if I will ever see 2.2. 2.2 introduced support for Exchange policies and I would like to see that support added to my phone.A friend with an Incredible got an update to 2.2 on Verizon, but so far my Eris remains at 2.1.

I bought an Eris off craigslist and didn't think about calling in the ESN first. Obviously it was a scam and the guy reported it stolen 15 minutes after I paid him $275.i heard there are some loopholes around this. Anyone know how to get it activated again?

Can I return an Eris with 2.1 to Verizon if it's within the 30 day return period? I spoke with someone at bestbuy who told me to just send it back and I shouldn't have a problem. Sorry if this has been asked, or is a stupid question, i couldn't find a definitive answer.

I've done a quick search (best I can do at work) to see if Verizon or HTC had any comments on the leakage, but found nothing. Anyone else heard/read anything from them regarding the leak? The more they keep quiet, the more I'm thinking they are just really kicking back waiting to see what the bugs/glitches are, before they 'officially' release it.

So i received my replacement eris in the mail today from verizon and did the OTA activation..stopped in the middle and took me to verizon rep, who immediately demanded my name, phone number and password. I give her all the information and she asks where i got the phone, i tell her that verizon sent it to me and that i am trying to activate it on my line. She informs me that there is no way they sent me the phone im trying to activate as its a STOLEN PHONE!After having me read the ESN off of the phone, and the testers box they sent me, i proved them wrong. They are going to overnight me a eris replacement again and now i have to send back a phone that was reported stolen.

I was at my local verizon store an hour ago and was talking to the sales guy about my eris and possibly getting a new battery. After asking for the date for the 2.0+ update (he didnt have one) and the nexus one, he told me that the nexus one will in fact be called the nexus one for verizon (rather than the htc passion) and that it is already in their computer system as being available in february.

I did a factory reset last week after reading some of the posts about it here. I had some lag issues, and the Verizon tech also suggested that. I also did the *228 tip to reprogram the phone as was suggested. It was OK for a few days, but I'm having similar problems again. Before I go to Verizon, I thought I'd list them here and see what you good folks thought.
1) I still get terrible lag from time to time, and at all different times. I know that when I'm trying to do something with the battery low (under 25% lets say), its slow, but I chalk that off as understandable.
2) Sometimes when I send a text message out, I see that it takes at least 5 minutes to get sent. During this time, I do notice that time in the notification bar is anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes behind. Then, after a few minutes, catches back up to be in sync with the time shown on the HTC Sense widget on my home screen. BTW, that frozen time has occurred when the phone is just sitting there, not necessarily during a text message being sent, so SOMETHING is bogging it down.
3) Sometimes, and this has been increasing over the last few days, when I try to type something, either in a text message or in someone's contact info, I get the text box up and the virtual keyboard, but no text shows up at all when I'm typing. I see the characters that pop up, but nothing ends up in the text box. I have to exit out of that app and try again later. Very frustrating when you're trying to text someone and you have to wait 5-10 minutes to do it.
4) I know about the battery issues and how poor the battery life is. I've tried to remedy that by only checking my email, Twitter, and Facebook once per hour, but my battery still drains pretty fast. Today, for example, I took the phone off of the charger @ 7:30am. It was at 28% left @ noon! Granted, some of the issues that I describe above were going on and probably had a lot to do with that (clock lagging behind, texts taking 5 minutes to go out), but still, almost 75% of the battery gone after only 4 hours SUCKS! I've done the usual remedies (power the phone down then back on; battery pull; factory reset last week, etc.). It seems to help for a very short period of time but reverts back to the problems I describe above. So, is a trip to Verizon in my future? If they replace it, is a refurb acceptable to get? I've read varying stories ranging from "my refurb works like a charm" to "my refurb has the same issues as my old phone". I don't want to inherit the same problem, or someone else's problem. Am I basically stuck here until my "new every 2" is up in November 2011?

One of our Verizon Wireless sources has dropped a whole bunch of info in our laps. Were talking intimate details of Verizon Wireless plans for the rest of 2010, 2011 and even some 2012 plans. Android tablets, LTE MiFi units, Android 3.0, video conferencing, and a whole lot more. Read on for the full details! In addition to the Motorola DROID and Motorola DROID X, weï told Motorola will launch a new DROID handset, the Motorola DROID Pro. It is supposed to have a 1.3GHz CPU, 4 screen and global roaming capabilities. Estimated launch of November 2010, Motorola is working with Verizon on alab form- device that sort of looks like an old Motorola Q but features a full touchscreen and global roaming. It will run Android 2.2. Maybe this will be a lower cost, MOTOBLUR handset? There are a lot more Android invasions happening before the end of the year, we told. This includes a global Android device from both Samsung and HTC.Samsung is working on a 7 screen Android tablet with front-facing camera. Motorola is also working on a tablet as well, except it will sport a 10 screen, either 1GHz or 1.3GHz CPU, front-facing camera, and Android 3.0. Don expect the Motorola so soon though, as informed that while the launch was supposed to happen in December, Android 3.0 will probably hold up the release of that device and we should expect it around February 2011. Verizon Wireless is aiming and on track to have at least 75% of the country covered in LTE coverage by April 2012 There will be a Novatel LTE MiFi device available in January or February that will apparently support up to 10 simultaneous Wi-Fi users. Lastly, we told LTE data pricing will stick at month, though it unclear what the data allowance will be. (This is for data cards, not smart phones) Regardless of whether an iPhone comes to Verizon Wireless anytime soon, it obviously clear they are not slowing down with their huge Android push. With LTE coming up, and a major stable of high-performance smart phones, it seems like Verizon has positioned themselves to win. We see how the end of the year and 2011 shape up before making any concrete judgments, though. Did we get anyone excited?

So i just got off the phone with a customer service rep from Verizon and was telling them about my issues because i'm on my 3rd replacement phone, and the 3rd one that just got sent out today is even worser then the ones i had to have replace, i told the rep that i wanted a new model phone, and all they could tell me was that well we'll have to just replace it with the same model, and if you're wanting to get a new model phone you would have to pay for it.How are some of you members getting the Moto Droid without any charges?? Do you guys just get nice reps? Because the rep i got was just a D*ck he wouldn't listen to what i was trying to say and kept cutting me off.

I want to preface all of the following by stating I love the Eris. The only reason I didn't buy an Incredible at full price was because of the nice form factor. I love the hardware buttons for end and send. I"m now on my 4th phone. 1st had a trackball issue, had it replaced at the store the following day. The 2nd had a bad GPS chip (that's what they explained it as). It said I was in Florida, Alaska, and California when I was actually in Dallas. The 3rd had dialer lag issues. (I'm guessing this is common as my roommates has it as well). When placing a call, dialed or from a contact, it will sometimes take 2-5 minutes to actually load the calling app and place the call. I just received my 4th phone Tuesday, activated it yesterday, and today at work it decides to do the same lagging when making a call.I was standing out front of an office trying to get the location of my work order from a coworker. It took about 3.5 minutes to finally attempt to make the call. My new Eris barely has any applications installed as well. (Google Voice and Timeriffic is pretty much it) It happens way to frequently to be a signal issue. It happens at different times and in different places (I work for a school district across 4 cities so I travel between them a lot) I have to make a lot of important phone calls, sometimes time sensitive, and if it takes this much time to place one call then I can't do my job.Anyone have any advice, I'm now wanting to try a different phone. I would love another Eris, but I doubt it will work the way it should. Anyone know the policies about these types of cases?

I recently called Verizon about the keyboard lag in my phone. Although it doesn't skip anything when typing, it can annoy me at times. Verizon said to do a soft reset which actually solved the issue... for a day. I then called Verizon another time and the lady told me that this is just an issue with smart phones and that she is experiencing it with her ERIS, Droid, and Blackberry phone. She told me if I use my phone a lot (which I do) that I should do a soft reset every few days to keep it "smooth." I think this would be a good thing, but is this actually something that I should do? Anyway, I proceeded to call HTC just to see what they would say. I had nothing to lose. The man immediately told me in the middle of my question: "NO, there is no fix." I then asked if this could be fixed with updated software, and he did his little script about not being able to talk about future updates and rumors and how he can't talk about when android 2.0 will come out exactly (although I didn't ask). Both supports were great and I was very satisfied. I am posting this to answer any future searches and to ask a question. The question: Can this be fixed with software updates? I love posting on other forums that interest me via my phone and in the browser it is SO laggy and I can't even believe it. My dad's iPhone has no lag in the browser, but I guess the iPhone doesn't have a two year old processor. Thanks for reading this mess I wrote.
