I don't know how or why this happened, but two apps I installed from market called Bible and 2nd called Translator, suddenly show up in the apps area as something like "com.domain.appname.." I cannot figure out how this happened, nor how to rename them.

Contact names get changed when linked with another and so my contacts look ridiculous. as a example, When I have a contact named "Roy (company)" and same person has the skype name "roy1985", when I linked both its just "roy1985" is appear on my contacts. is there any way to link them and have the name I assigned ("Roy(company)") to be in my contacts app?

View 8 Replies View RelatedAfter months of being really happy with 1.5, I ran with OTA 2.1 for about a week.... hated it! While I didn't see any outright bugs, the phone had hugely sluggish response, very poor battery life, etc. Finally decided to to the Factory Data Reset this morning, and voila - lovin' my Eris again.
Things to note:
Before Factory Data reset w/ 2.1 OTA:
- Phone uptime and awake time were almost equal (not good)
- Had the 50% without signal message
- 'Android System' always listed as top user of battery usage (60-70%)
- Even while idle, phone always felt 'warm' (like it was continually running a background process, as evidence by poor battery life)
After Factory Data reset w/ 2.1 OTA:
- Phone uptime and awake time now as expected (awaketime < uptime)
- No more 50% signal message
- Cell Standby and Phone Idle now top users of batter usage.
- Phone now cool to the touch while idle
One thing to note is even after the reset, I still had issues syncing Gmail contacts, and needed to delete the contacts cache.
While I won't conjecture about root cause, I'm hoping Google and VZ learn from this experience, as much of this mucking about is *way* beyond what most 'normal' users would put up with. My wife loves her iPhone and just laughs at me dealing with all this c**p. Besides, I can't remember the last time *she* had to reboot her phone..
Ok. I clear out all the entries. Reload from Outlook. Then I have multiples again. What's up with that?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had an edited png for the market icon in the vending apk but when I applied my edited png's to Ivans rom with the market fix it seems to have changed the icon back to the original market Icon. When I first loaded the rom it showed my edited png for the market icon but after my first reboot it seems to change the icon back to the original. I assume that the market is updating upon reboot so I pulled the vending apk off my phone and my edited png's are still there but its still showing the original market icon. Anybody else with an edited market icon notice this or any ideas of why its going back to original? I have tried this a couple times and it always updates after first reboot...

I have been lurking for a while and couldn't have rooted without your guys After I rooted my Eris (Now running Non sensible 13.2 after trying tazz froyo and a few others) I now have problems with my touch screen, especially on the upper right side quadrant. View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been playing around with a few different ROMs to find the one that's the most stable for me, but something weird has happened. Most of the ROMs I like the best have the vanilla dialer which I love but the look of the dialer has changed and I'm not sure why.
At one point the dialer had the END, SPKR, MUTE etc., on the call screen so if you pulled the phone away from your ear you could see those buttons. Now when I'm on a call I have a little tab that I have to pull up to access the number pad and I have to hit MENU to bring up the END, SPKR and MUTE settings. I really want to go back to the way it was before. This has happened on several ROMs.
I just recently rooted my phone, using the cyanogenmod rc3 with a chevy 1ghz kernel. When im looking at my applications whether it be at the home screen or in the pop up that shows them all. Some of them dont show the full application name. For example, Rom manager only shows Rom Man...

He is telling me to look in my settings under wireless & networks and tell him what I have for APN's. Well the thing is I don't even have anything in there! As I looked around I found that ALL my Starred "favorite" contacts were missing. I checked online at the Google website and found the same names missing from my contact list. It was only the Starred names thet were missing. Has anyone else ran into this problem or know why it may have ate my Starred contacts.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter you get done doing a nandroid backup, and you go in with an application like Astro, make sure there aren't any spaces in the folder name. Nandroid does not like that. Took a backup, tried a different ROM, didn't like it so went to go and restore my backup, wouldn't restore. It wouldn't get by the MD5 sum check. I just happened to notice there was a space in the name, mounted the memory card, removed the space, rebooted back into recovery and attempted to to the restore again, and success. Just a little tidbit of information I ran into first hand.

I am having trouble committing to my svn repository changes made in files in my Android project in folders that have a hyphen in the name.
In particular /res/layout and /res/layout-land.
It *seems* that the svn client doesn't like the hyphen and truncates that segment of the url after the hyphen, thus mapping /layout and / layout-land onto the same url...
Problems include:- - can't check in two files of same name, one each in /layout and / layout-land as "they refer to the same URL" - can't delete/add files from hyphenated folder as they "don't exist"/"already exist" - I suspect a commit from the hyphenated folder is overwriting the file in the non-hyphenated folder in the repository.
I have tried to avoid the problem using the subeclipse plug-in for svn I normally use, from the svn command line (on Windows 7) and with Tortoise SVN, without success.
Does anyone know of a workaround?
Is there anyway to avoid hyphens in these folder names?

For some reason, a bunch of my contacts are showing up as their Twitter names, and I'd rather have it be their real name, which I have listed under their Google accounts (for example, GreenMike vs. Mike Green). I even unlinked my Twitter account, but the names stayed the same. Similarly, is there a way to set it so the contact pictures are Google account pictures by default?

Anyone know why they changed the functionality of this? You used to be able to press volume down all the way from loud, to vibrate, to silent (which would not vibrate). Now it either bottoms out at vibrate with certain settings, or skips vibrate and goes to silent. This annoys me because I have to actually go into settings now to put it in silent mode (since I have it set on always vibrate). I've yet to find a combination in the new sound settings to restore the functionality to what it was previously in 2.1. Anyone else running into this "issue", or know a combination that is the same as before?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI had been using ebuddy for IMs on the Droid since I got the phone but was really having a horrible time with battery life. Well this morning I downloaded Meebo to give it a try and I must say it appears that ebuddy was the source of my battery problems. I have had Meebo on all day and my battery is at 90 percent so it appears that it uses a lot less energy than ebuddy does. Give it a try if you've been having battery issues and have been using ebuddy.
