HTC Droid Eris :: Changed Messages Icon
Jan 22, 2010I just changed all my icons and am very happy with my set up.all but the Messages icon changed over. Does anyone know how to get around this problem?

HTC Droid Eris :: Market Fix Changed My Market Icon Back To Original
Apr 29, 2010I had an edited png for the market icon in the vending apk but when I applied my edited png's to Ivans rom with the market fix it seems to have changed the icon back to the original market Icon. When I first loaded the rom it showed my edited png for the market icon but after my first reboot it seems to change the icon back to the original. I assume that the market is updating upon reboot so I pulled the vending apk off my phone and my edited png's are still there but its still showing the original market icon. Anybody else with an edited market icon notice this or any ideas of why its going back to original? I have tried this a couple times and it always updates after first reboot...

May 14, 2010I recently switched from sense to home and I have a little problem.My email and messages icons dont have the notification icon when I receive my emails.Usually if you have two or three new emails it says so on the icon, well im not getting this.I am getting the notification icon up the task bar, but not on the icon.What to do?

Nov 17, 2012Why the google voice app icon changed to the android character. I liked it better with the phone in a talk bubble. Is there a way to change it back. The android character is too common, doesn't really say texting or voice mail. hope they change it back or give an option to have the older one.

May 24, 2010After months of being really happy with 1.5, I ran with OTA 2.1 for about a week.... hated it! While I didn't see any outright bugs, the phone had hugely sluggish response, very poor battery life, etc. Finally decided to to the Factory Data Reset this morning, and voila - lovin' my Eris again.
Things to note:
Before Factory Data reset w/ 2.1 OTA:
- Phone uptime and awake time were almost equal (not good)
- Had the 50% without signal message
- 'Android System' always listed as top user of battery usage (60-70%)
- Even while idle, phone always felt 'warm' (like it was continually running a background process, as evidence by poor battery life)
After Factory Data reset w/ 2.1 OTA:
- Phone uptime and awake time now as expected (awaketime < uptime)
- No more 50% signal message
- Cell Standby and Phone Idle now top users of batter usage.
- Phone now cool to the touch while idle
One thing to note is even after the reset, I still had issues syncing Gmail contacts, and needed to delete the contacts cache.
While I won't conjecture about root cause, I'm hoping Google and VZ learn from this experience, as much of this mucking about is *way* beyond what most 'normal' users would put up with. My wife loves her iPhone and just laughs at me dealing with all this c**p. Besides, I can't remember the last time *she* had to reboot her phone..
Motorola Droid 2 :: Little Yahoo Icon That Indicates New Messages - How To Get To Them
Sep 13, 2010I just got a Droid 2 yesterday and so far this forum has been extremely helpful, thanks. Yesterday, I downloaded the free Yahoo Mail app. On the top of the screen, I seen a little Yahoo icon that indicates new messages. How do I get to them? I thought there would be a button with all of the other apps that came pre-loaded, but there doesn't seem to be anything for Yahoo. I've just been going to the browser button and getting to Yahoo from there... is that the only way?

Aug 15, 2010I've been playing around with a few different ROMs to find the one that's the most stable for me, but something weird has happened. Most of the ROMs I like the best have the vanilla dialer which I love but the look of the dialer has changed and I'm not sure why.
At one point the dialer had the END, SPKR, MUTE etc., on the call screen so if you pulled the phone away from your ear you could see those buttons. Now when I'm on a call I have a little tab that I have to pull up to access the number pad and I have to hit MENU to bring up the END, SPKR and MUTE settings. I really want to go back to the way it was before. This has happened on several ROMs.

I like how my Eris has default buttons to quickly switch on Wifi and Bluetooth, is there an option to do the same for GPS Satellites? i hate going through the settings menu to turn it on or off. I think i've seen pictures of peoples setups where they have this and airplane mode as quick on/off buttons but i can't seem to find it.

HTC Droid Eris :: Weird Icon Bug
May 5, 2010Yeah, so my wife's Eris has had a weird glitch since she got it in January. Before any suggestions, we've tried factory wipe, Settings > Applications and making sure it's the default action, but still no go.
Her messaging icon on the home screen launches other random programs at will. Sometimes it's the last used program, other times it's just completely random apps. I've searched for answers but no dice. Any suggestions? We've also tried recreating a new icon for the screen, and it does the same thing.
*edit* she did have Advanced Task Killer & Advanced Task Manager installed for a time, but has since removed them. I thought maybe it was an app, but she says it has done it since she unpackaged it from the box.
HTC Droid Eris :: New Notification - Icon In The Top Bar
May 31, 2010I got my Eris 2 days ago. I updated to 2.1 yesterday, using the update function. I notice there is a new notification? icon in the top bar. It never appeared before the update. I looked through the manual both for 1.5 and 2.1 and it is not listed. It looks like an over the ear earpiece facing to the right, with an arc next to it like the satellite icon has when it is connected.

Mar 13, 2010I have a friend with a moto droid using handcent and he is able to speak a voice quick reply into handcent and it types it out...(handy while driving). I installed handcent on my eris today and do not have the microphone icon available on the quick reply screen. Any ideas how I can get it to work? Is this available on the eris?

Feb 16, 2010The only way i can get the GPS status bar icon to not be there is to restart the phone. I can kill all running apps, kill all running services, and put it in airplane mode and it continues to sit there and blink the little green lines for hours.

Dec 15, 2009When I turn my GPS on the satellite shows that it is active, I do my thing and when I turn gps off the satellite icon shows as active in the notification heading broadcasting still I have to reboot phone for it to disappear. Anybody else have this prob with the eris?
