Motorola Droid :: Backup Folder Names?
Jun 15, 2010After you get done doing a nandroid backup, and you go in with an application like Astro, make sure there aren't any spaces in the folder name. Nandroid does not like that. Took a backup, tried a different ROM, didn't like it so went to go and restore my backup, wouldn't restore. It wouldn't get by the MD5 sum check. I just happened to notice there was a space in the name, mounted the memory card, removed the space, rebooted back into recovery and attempted to to the restore again, and success. Just a little tidbit of information I ran into first hand.

Feb 11, 2012I downloaded Astro because I'm suppose to be able to change the names of my pictures with it but when I open the program I can find all sorts of files, but I can't find a folder for my gallery or my library where the pictures are suppose to be. I think they should be there anyway.
Once I found a place to type a "name" & search but that did not find those file folders either. I thought I might search the "Name" of a photo I have on the phone but now I can't even find where to type in the name/date & time again.

Dec 1, 2010I used Apps Organizer to create folders of related apps (like Games, Japanese, etc) to go on to my home screen. I rather like it. Just one irritation, to which I wonder if anyone has a solution. If I switch the phone off for any reason, when I switch it back on, the folders are all still on the home screen, with the icon I have attributed to the folder, but the names all change to 'Apps label'. I can't find any obvious solution, other than to delete the shortcuts and reintroduce them, but would be grateful for anyone's thoughts. If there is another similar application I could use in its place, that would be fine - I'm not especially attached to Apps Organizer, though I do like it other than the name thing.

Jul 17, 2010My Eris has been acting up the past few days. It has been changing screens automaticly when I pick it up. Also when I go to type something it will move my placing backwards so I'm typing in between words that I've already started typing. I've tried rebooting several times. I'm not sure what to do with it other than take it out back and shoot it.

Someone recommended "BetterCut" which I downloaded...it lets me change the icons for other shortcuts (which is great) but not for folders. Aug 3, 2010I'm just now getting around to trying to add some custom notification sounds, and ring tones I've made myself.Problem is there are no set folders on my SD card for ring tones, notifications or photos like I've had on other phones in the past.So, can someone tell me what folders I should make to put things in their appropriate place and have them actually show up on the phone?I tried just dragging and dropping a few small mp3 files I want to use as notification sounds directly onto the SD card but that didn't work. Jul 15, 2010O.K. I've seen in different themes or roms that the backgrounds are different than stock. Evil eris the robot on the dialer screen was blue. I've seen em pink. Seen em with checkerboard pattern across his midsection. Never seen a completely custom without the robot tho. My question is how do you change that screen and is the robot not removable? Can I just put some random picture that I think is cool at the time? Oh and how do I change the color of the call button and battery icon, if theres a way without installing other apps to do it?

1 - Last night, I put a background app on my Eris and downloaded a couple. Got the message just fine that they were saved to my SD card.
2 - This question in two parts.
A - Where the heck are they? I went to look for them in the settings area, and I can't find them in any "gallery." What am I doing wrong?
B - Once "found," how do I save them to a gallery that I can use to change the lockscreen background?
Again, I can't do this on a PC and rooting is not an option for me (one, I really don't know much about it, and two, I think you lose Sense UI which I like and don't want to get rid of).locate any files on my SD card. As a matter of fact, the only option shown in my settings for the SD card is "Unmount SD card." The Format SD Card is greyed, so it's not letting me choose it even if I wanted to. Is this a setting somewhere else?

When he set up his wife as a favorite, he accidentally chose to "send text" as the default action. He wants to change it to dial her cell number. I read the instructions for my Eris on how to do this.It tells me "To change the default communication method for a favorite contact, press and hold the contact, and then tap Change default action."When I do this, I do not get an option to change default action. May 21, 2010Before the OTA I was able to select which apllication was used when the large "phone" button was pushed on the homepage. I think what used to happen was that when you downloaded a new phone dialer and then pressed the phone button the first time you were given an option as to what app you want to use for this action. Once you chose an app it was always activated when you pressed the phone button. I don't see this happening anymore.

Aug 15, 2010Ive been searching the net, droid forums, and spending ridiculous amounts of time at verizon stores and no one will give me a straight answer. Is there any way to either do something to the bluetooth or change the eris's sense ui so that it can pair with a wiimote, or are there any other bluetooth or USB keyboards or game controller that can for sure work with the eris?
Also, what is the best music player app? All I want is one that has an equalizer that works. Every time I hit the eq button on mixing it say that "the eq doesnt support this file type" and all my music is MP3 wtf. And does anyone know if theres any way that verizon will exchange a "broken" eris for an incredible?
