View 8 Replies View RelatedFriend of mine told me today that ones of his co-workers have their phone set-up where it is bluetooth connected to his laptop, His laptop is connected to his home television which makes the tv act as his monitor, then he uses his android phone as the wireless keyboard and trackball for the mouse. He wasn't sure what phone exactly he had, or what app he was using.
My questions are. Is this possible with the eris? If so, is there a specific app you need to get? I know that the Eris doesn't do data over bluetooth, so I don't know if this is something that won't work now, but may work with an upgrade to 2.x. This is something that I would be interested in doing.
I can't get the SlideIT to work on my HTC droid eris. Does it even work on 1.5 or do I need to have 2.1 for it to work?
View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anybody know of a keyboard with the buttons more spread out? My wife hates all the keyboards on the Eris that we've found so far. Any help would make life at the house more peaceful.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy phone unlocked in my pocket I have a droid eris btw. I also have the lockpattern where you connect he dots set up.
In my pocket it did the wrong lock pattern five times and now it is asking me to put my email and password in to unlock it. The problEm is that the keyboard does not come up even when I hold menu.
Are their any options for any form of external full-sized keyboard for the Eris? It'd be nice to have just one electronic device to bring to school to take notes on. Oh, I don't know if this matters, but I'm still on 1.5.
View 3 Replies View RelatedFrom what information I can gather from the web, android browser shortcuts are comprised of MENU + X combinations. Is there an equivalent for the Eris? I do not see how this works given the lack of a real keyboard. To open the keyboard take a separate action and when holding MENU to then click the appropriate letter, all you get is the menu.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI know that the Sense UI keyboard is supposed to be pretty good, but I'm wondering if I should download Better Keyboard.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAssuming the "Better Terminal Emulator" selling for $3.99 in the marketplace works, are there any other terminal apps that work with the Eris that people are using? I tried the free "Terminal Emulator" but it appears a virtual keyboard does not work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhat is the best keyboard to get off the market. The default keyboard is ok but sometimes it doesn't backspace or when i hit the space bar i get the . instead of the space.

Dev = ne0fhyk from XDA.
From the XDA forum: Link to app page = [APP][ROOT/Keyboard] Keyboard Manager - Dual keyboard: Portrait/landscape switch - xda-developers
Verbage:
Keyboard Manager allows you to customize what keyboard (input method) appear on input based on your phone orientation.
It displays the keyboards you have enabled on your android device, and let you select one per orientation (landscape/portrait).
As your phone switch orientation, the app automatically switch the keyboard.
Requirements:
- Rooted android device (app was tested on Samsung captivate 2.1)
- Root Explorer app, or similar app that allows you to edit the permissions of a file.
To install:
1- Download the app (KeyboardManager.apk) on your device sdcard.
2- Using Root Explorer, move the apk file to /system/app
3- Using Root Explorer, edit the file permissions like below:
-- User: 'Read/Write' checked
--Group: 'Read' checked
--Others: 'Read' checked
4- Exit Root Explorer
The app should be visible in your launcher as 'Keyboard Manager'
Update:
- Added option to disable notification icon
-' start on boot' feature is disabled because it's not yet complete and tested... Sorry for the confusion
Bugs:
-On certain applications (i.e: Messaging on Samsung Captivate), the input window occasionally freeze on orientation switch. Exiting the app, and resuming should fix it.
The app is still in development.
My daughter and I both got Eris' [Erii?] with Verizon's 2 for 1. I noticed while loading some stuff to hers last night though that when you type on the keyboard, you don't get the letters popping up (i.e. on mine, when I hit a letter on the keyboard, it pops up a bubble showing what letter I hit for a half second or so, this doesn't occur on hers).I've looked everywhere I can find but don't see anywhere to turn that on/off. Any suggestions?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhy does everyone use for their keyboard? I've tried swype, better keyboard, anysoftkeyboard, and I was wondering what you guys think is the best keyboard? I can't stand the touch keyboard that comes with th phone.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know there is a search button... I've looked BUT,
Anyone wanna help a brother out and post the apk for the vanilla keyboard?
Seems like ever since I got my update I can't get the keyboard to come up when I go on the Internet. It works everywhere else just not when on the Internet. Anyone else have this problem? Is there anything I can do to fix it?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just removed the vibrate when typing setting from the stock keyboard and now the keys are much more responsive. Day and Night. How happy are you guys without it? just wondering.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI've been using swype for awhile and now it wont let me use it anymore so i got better keyboard and i dont find it better at all.... are there any other good alternative keyboards?
View 11 Replies View RelatedCan we download the HTC Keyboard apk file from Here ? I would really like to try voice input to text and email. Swype is great, but would like to have the option. I am using the leaked 2.1 OS as well. Has anybody tried this install from XDA forums? I want to make sure I don't ruin my phone if I do.
View 30 Replies View RelatedI just got my Droid Eris. It was working fine to go back and forth between landscape and upright, until I calibrated the G-sensor. Now I'm not sure what's going on. I'm not sure if I've done the calibration correctly (I assume you just sit it upright on a flat surface?) or what. It will randomly go into landscape mode, but then I can't get it back upright unless I go to the home screen.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just noticed this today but cant figure out how it works. Right above the caps lock button and below the A is XT9 grayed out. Why is that there? I thought it might be a shortcut to that keyboard but cant figure it out.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've noticed a couple of bugs in the stock keyboard for the 2.1 leak: In portrait mode, if you overshoot the space bar, and press underneath it, it causes the keyboard to close. And in landscape mode, if you press the grey area to the right of the "L" key, it does the same. Now that I verbalize it, it seems more like the sensitivity areas for the home/menu/return/search keys may be a little larger than they were in 1.5, maybe even extending nearly into the keyboard. I notice myself getting kicked out of typing a lot more due to this than I did with 1.5. I've tried recalibrating but that doesn't seem to help.
View 4 Replies View Relatedmaybe it just isn't there, but I am trying to locate the backslash character () on the Eris keyboard. I can easily see the forwardslash character ( / ) but the backslash is what I need to setup my Exchange account on the phone. Does anybody have any ideas?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo it seems like this is so far the only forum i've found for droid eris that is helpful..i'm currently reading the sticky on must have apps..i bought the ultra keyboard and set it up...but it still uses the old keyboard..
View 5 Replies View RelatedFor those of you who don't swype. It's a new keyboard if you want to give it a try. Free in the Market. Sent from my Eris using Tapatalk
