Seems like ever since I got my update I can't get the keyboard to come up when I go on the Internet. It works everywhere else just not when on the Internet. Anyone else have this problem? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

From what information I can gather from the web, android browser shortcuts are comprised of MENU + X combinations. Is there an equivalent for the Eris? I do not see how this works given the lack of a real keyboard. To open the keyboard take a separate action and when holding MENU to then click the appropriate letter, all you get is the menu.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with using my Eris while connected to my home wifi network. The problem is that after I successfully connect to my network, I am unable to browse the internet, access the Market, or use any music apps which require internet access. I have verified that my phone is capable of doing all of this while connected to an unsecured wifi network, however, my network is secured. I'm not sure if that's what the issue is.A little bit of info about my home network - I have a Motorola SBG900 cable modem w/built-in wireless access. I have it setup for b/g network, WPA/PSK, etc. The strange thing about this is that I have two laptops, & my iPad setup on the same wireless network and all of them are able to access the network with no issues.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi am not sure if this has already been addressed but i know one of the main advertisements AT&T has done is the iphones ability to surf the web while on a call and verizon's inability to do so, well i was playing around on the call settings and what not while on a call and i pressed home expecting it to take me back to the call screen and instead it took me to my home screen and i thought, why not, so i tried to open the browser and it worked. i was kinda surprised. so i tried to open some apps as well and it also worked. i am just wondering why AT&T is boasting about this when we have the ability to and sprint likely has this ability also bc of the similarities between the hero and the eris.

I would like to download some movies for my phone, but want to make sure that I am downloading from a reputable site. Can anyone recommend a good site for this? Also, I see some of them offer to download in ipod or DivX (not sure what DivX even is) formats. Should I choose one of these formats or just choose DVD format and convert it? Is there specific settings I should choose for the Eris? I really am new to this, so dumb it down for me ok?
View 12 Replies View RelatedTried to make a call today and it just sits at dialing and where it usually shows 1x icons its not there, just signal bars and gps icon. I thought reset would fix it but no, tried calling my phone goes to voicemail.
So I backed up my data and used reset in the security settings. Successfully made activation call to *228 and thought the problem is fixed, however when I tried placing call again it just sits at dialing screen for few seconds and ends the call.
For instance: when I click on a video on cnn.com, the phone goes through the motions of downloading it and then I get a message: This content cannot play on this device.
When I go to the YouTube app and click on any video displayed, the message is Cannot play video. Sorry, this video cannot be played. The videos that I took with my phone and are stored on my SD are playing OK.
Is it possible to make the eris phone an access point to the Internet? I have the Verizon aircard now. I would like to use the Eris to connect my computer and WiFi to the Internet.

Verbage:
Keyboard Manager allows you to customize what keyboard (input method) appear on input based on your phone orientation.
It displays the keyboards you have enabled on your android device, and let you select one per orientation (landscape/portrait).
As your phone switch orientation, the app automatically switch the keyboard.
Requirements:
- Rooted android device (app was tested on Samsung captivate 2.1)
- Root Explorer app, or similar app that allows you to edit the permissions of a file.
To install:
1- Download the app (KeyboardManager.apk) on your device sdcard.
2- Using Root Explorer, move the apk file to /system/app
3- Using Root Explorer, edit the file permissions like below:
-- User: 'Read/Write' checked
--Group: 'Read' checked
--Others: 'Read' checked
4- Exit Root Explorer
The app should be visible in your launcher as 'Keyboard Manager'
Update:
- Added option to disable notification icon

Bugs:
-On certain applications (i.e: Messaging on Samsung Captivate), the input window occasionally freeze on orientation switch. Exiting the app, and resuming should fix it.

1. Is there any way to copy a picture from the Internet and save it to my Eris?
2. I tried watching a trailer on IMDB and it was way too slow and choppy. Is that how any video will be or is there way to improve watching videos from the Internet?
Seriously Android drives me nuts. On a daily basis I will toggle between 4 different home screens, 3 different music players, 4 different internet browsers various wallpapers, various weather widgets. I'm sure if I was able to settle one having the same layout on a daily basis I wouldn't be charging my phone 2 times a day.

I haven't seen anyone else mention this, but sometimes when I click on one of the bookmarks i've saved (especially after browsing the internet a bit) the phone will open the browser to the last page viewed - not the bookmark I selected.

I noticed while loading some stuff to hers last night though that when you type on the keyboard, you don't get the letters popping up (i.e. on mine, when I hit a letter on the keyboard, it pops up a bubble showing what letter I hit for a half second or so, this doesn't occur on hers).I've looked everywhere I can find but don't see anywhere to turn that on/off. Any suggestions?
