Assuming the "Better Terminal Emulator" selling for $3.99 in the marketplace works, are there any other terminal apps that work with the Eris that people are using? I tried the free "Terminal Emulator" but it appears a virtual keyboard does not work.

Every so often, I go to type in a message, either on the pop up from handcent, or in the actual program, and no matter what I hit, the keyboard doesn't type anything. I can switch inputs from Swype to Android keyboard and usually it doesnt do anything (though sometimes it starts working again). Sometimes it fixes itself if I leave it alone for a few minutes, but other times it needs a battery pull to fix. It's not a huge deal as it doesn't happen every time i use the phone, but definitely something I wish didn't happen

View 3 Replies View RelatedI text. A lot. It's very irritating when the keyboard on the Eris can't keep up with how fast I type. I'll be finished with my message, and the last few words take 1-3 seconds to show up, which is fine I suppose. However, when I make some errors, the auto-correct feature doesn't work because apparently my typing speed is too quick for it.
Everything works fine when I type slowly, but that's annoying too.
I barely have any apps besides the stock ones. In running services I only have the calendar, Google Voice, Touch Input, and BatteryTime running. I don't use any app killer, I have animations and haptic feedback turned off. I don't know what else I can do to speed this phone up.
This problem, the lag in switching from portrait to landscape, and the lag with calls is really making me want to sell my Eris and purchase the Incredible, or I may wait until the "Moto Droid X" releases in July....or is that just a rumor?
I wanted to get a virtual keyboard on click of a button and when the button takes focus.the following code works only for on focus,but does not work for the onClickListner.

Any1 been able to do fun and exciting things to improve the android experience and/or fix bugs using Terminal editors, and the programs stored in /System/Bin? I've been playing around with some of them basically just looking @ command syntax for the different programs. Some of them seem promising, and some of them look like they can make ur eris into a stylish paperweight. One app i actviated was $ Toolbox, the only thing this did was echo back Toolbox! in the termina editor lol. Ive seen posts where ppl used dmesg to find out how the internal memory was partitioned. I'll admit i'm a total linux shell newb, but playing around with it is fun for me.

Not always getting VM notifications until I power down the phone then power up got aggravated this morining when I turned on phone and had an important voicemail from TWO days ago.Tried leaving myself vm's from land line, got notification both time, but its hit or miss.any help? View 13 Replies View RelatedI recently activated my old Blackberry Curve because of my frustration with certain features on my Eris. I thought that I would still be able to browse the Internet on my Eris using wifi only but it's not really working. The reason I say "not really" is because I can do a Google search and look at Google News, etc, but I can't really go anywhere else. If I click on a link, or select one of my bookmarks, it just sits there and eventually times out. Does anyone understand why this won't work? When my Eris was activated, I could use wifi in areas where I had no cell coverage. I may reactivate my Eris soon.... I do miss the fun of it. Also the call quality is somewhat better than my Curve - although the Curve gets better reception in marginal signal areas. Love my Curve for push email and the real keyboard. When it's time for an upgrade, I am going to have a hard time deciding whether to go with the latest Blackberry or Android phone. If they come out with a top of the line android phone with a good physical keyboard (not like the Droid's) I will be very tempted.

I was just looking at a newly released video of the Nexus One and I wondered if the ERis gets updated to 2.1 would it be able to handle the movement of the background images. I noticed with Beautiful Widgets, before it was laid to rest, that if you clicked on the weather when it was cloudy you could see the clouds moving in the background. But will the constant moving images on 2.1 slow up the processor on the Eris.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFrom what information I can gather from the web, android browser shortcuts are comprised of MENU + X combinations. Is there an equivalent for the Eris? I do not see how this works given the lack of a real keyboard. To open the keyboard take a separate action and when holding MENU to then click the appropriate letter, all you get is the menu.

I heard that there were issues with several gvoice updates, so I haven't updated google voice since 0.2.8 and it is working just fine- every call connects, no problems. View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I try to enter any command into my Terminal Emulator on my Droid it lets me only go so far then automatically enters the command incomplete and says things like "path does not exist" etc. I'm running Bugless Beast v1.1 with the Dark ROM patch. I'm also trying to get meta morph to work but when I run the checks it says there isn't enough space on /system and to make sure busy box is installed.

I have my phone set to vibrate when you press the capacitive quick keys, and other functions the phone deems necessary to vibrate, but cant find anything for the keyboard. Every time i try to enter text in any field the virtual keyboard will not show, and it forces me to use the physical keyboard.

When do you think the Droids virtual keyboard will be improved? It just seems like the HTC is much easier to type fast and correct. There is no calibration with the Droid or multitouch. Do you think that this will be improved in the near future or if there will be an app to replace it?

I just got my Droid 2 today, and I have a few questions to ask with one notable one.
Most importantly, is it possible to change the virtual keyboard into an ABC style instead of the traditional QWERTY? I'm not sure which I would stick with in the end, but I would like to try out another orientation.
Wi-fi drains the battery, right? I have horrible phone service at my house(home for the holidays) but at school the service is great, should I bother using Wi-Fi regularly?
Also is it possible to have the screen wake up when it is touched? The lock screen seems a bit unnecesary considering that there is already a lock button, so it would be nice to disable one or the other.
EDIT: Also, it seems like my phone has decided to spam my contact list with all of my Facebook "friends." That seems like it could cause some problems...
Also do you have any suggestions for a music player over the standard one? I have not really looked through the market yet personally(mostly due to the horrible service here), so any suggestions are welcome.
This has been really bugging me today and I need an answer as quick as possible.
