HTC Droid Eris : Way To Change Text Notification?
Oct 9, 2010I had Tone Picker running my notification tones and it stopped letting me change the tone. I also can't changed the stock tones now. What can I do to fix the problem?

HTC Droid Eris : Way To Change Text Message Notification Sounds?
Feb 16, 2010Sorry if this has been asked... I've searched and so far nothing. I just got my new Droid Eris. So far I love it, except for my text message sounds. My ringtone works as my new one. My notification sound plays my preference (Clapton's Layla) when I have an email and such, however, when I get a text message, it still plays the default sound. Is there somewhere you change this other than notification sounds?

I am currently not rooted, but will be doing so in the next few days (I'm still trying to decide what ROM i want to flash to start out). I don't know if this is even possible, but I thought it would be another good way to make my phone unique.

Mar 1, 2010There are a few ways to change the color of the clock, notification bar, and pull down menu.
Standard disclaimer: I take no responsibility for anything you do or screw up on your phone.
AdamZ has updated method A (now called Droid Customizer) and it now changes all notification colors. It will overwrite any other changes you have previously made to the services.jar and framework-res.apk files so the manual method is still useful for people who have already made changes and don't want to lose them.

If you are familiar with the installation process of the smoked glass themes then this is an option. Has 13 color options as well as 12 font options that you can use.
B - Manually (sorta) change everything. I did it this way because AdamZ's method in A wasn't out yet and I think the way described in method A might overwrite other changes you have made (not sure on that though)
This will probably look long with a lot of steps but it really isn't too complicated.
Prerequisits
Rooted
Android sdk installed and some familiarity with adb
adb info: Start Here | Root Your Droid
1 - Plug in your phone and don't mount the sd card.
2 - On your computer open a command prompt and navigate to the android sdk tools folder.

I have a song set for it and it plays all the way through until I get to the message and I'd like to be able to silence it. Jun 3, 2010Sometimes when I receive messages it makes the notification sound and will show message in notification bar but the text of the message will not appear in the text thread. Used to happen every once in a while, now doing it multiple times a day. I use Handcent but I doubt that is the problem because the messages dont show up in the regular messaging either. Just want to see if i am alone with this problem.

(I don't know why there isn't a website where I can see all the apps available, why must you do it from your handset only?). And either way, does the notification count as a text message? Nov 26, 2010I just flashed Nonsensikal v13.7 last night and since I am not getting any text message notification sounds. If I happen to get a notification sound, it is the default notification sound I set for my emails, et cetera. I use Handcent and have from the beginning. I set, reset, and reset my Handcent notification sound to be "pixie dust" but like I said, I'm not getting any notification sounds for my texts. Is anyone else having this issue on Nonsensikal? I didn't have this issue with version 12.5. Any advice, tips, or suggestions would be helpful.

Jan 13, 2010Ocassionaly, when responding to a text, the area you type in for me that says "Tap to compose" is greyed out and when I type, nothing happens. Usually requires a reboot. Anyone have any idea why it would be doing this or how to fix it? I love my phone, but the reboots take forever.
