I tried to delete all my text messages by going to manage applications, force stop on it and clear data. It didn't delete my messages but now the options to set a specific notification sound for text messages is grayed out.
1. How do I delete ALL text messages from ALL contacts?
2. How do I un-grey the notification sound options?

For some reason when someone text messages me it plays no sounds. Just started it today. I checked all volume settings and everything is on. Even selected a new ringtone still no go. It plays sounds so its not the speaker. Any way to fix this?
Also I fixed my numbers not coming up in my gmail contacts sync last night. Now the phone wont recognize my gmail contacts. I made sure all sync settings were turned on. Anyone know how to fix this. Search the forums and went to manage applications and cleared all google apps still no go.

I am looking for a way to have different notification sounds for emails and text messages. this is one thing i loved about my bb. Is there a way to do this on android.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSorry if this has been asked... I've searched and so far nothing. I just got my new Droid Eris. So far I love it, except for my text message sounds. My ringtone works as my new one. My notification sound plays my preference (Clapton's Layla) when I have an email and such, however, when I get a text message, it still plays the default sound. Is there somewhere you change this other than notification sounds?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just flashed Nonsensikal v13.7 last night and since I am not getting any text message notification sounds. If I happen to get a notification sound, it is the default notification sound I set for my emails, et cetera. I use Handcent and have from the beginning. I set, reset, and reset my Handcent notification sound to be "pixie dust" but like I said, I'm not getting any notification sounds for my texts. Is anyone else having this issue on Nonsensikal? I didn't have this issue with version 12.5. Any advice, tips, or suggestions would be helpful.

Anyone think 2.2 will fix the whole "my Droid randomly deleted all my texts again" issue? I really hope so because I'm sick of this happening 2-3 times a week
View 14 Replies View RelatedI've been enjoying my phone so far but now its running kinda slow in the message department, so I figured I'd clear out all my messages, all 3000+ plus. Android just doesn't want to delete them, I've heard that it can take 5+ minutes to delete message threads 500+, I'm screwed because one of my threads has over 2000! This phone should be storing older txt messages to the sdcard anyway, not sure why it wouldn't. Basically this thread was made to complain how crappy clearing out messages was.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a fast way to simply turn off all sound notifications, except for incoming phone calls.On my BB, there were different sound profiles, and I used to use 'Phone Only' quite a bit. I still wanted SMS and Email to come in, but I wanted those to be silent.I realize I can dive down into Menu > Setting and do it manually, but I'm looking for something simpler like an app or widget.I could turn off Mobile Network via a widget, but like I said above, I still want SMS and Email to come in, just not make a sound.Any ideas?
View 5 Replies View RelatedA couple of my friends and I all have the Eris. I seem to be the only one that has messaging issues though. If I try to delete a thread with over 30 messages the phone freezes up and I eventually have to hit the home button to make anything happen. When I'm on the home screen I click messages again to see if it did delete the thread and ALL my threads are gone and it says Compose Message at the top. But it freezes again. I end up restarting my phone, going back to the messages and they are all back like I never touched them.
Every time I try to explain this people seem to think I don't understand how to delete a thread. That is not the issue! If the thread is under 30 messages it deletes fine! I have to delete facebook statuses all the time. The only way I could clear a 700 count thread was to one by one delete the messages. What is going on? Is it just my phone and hopefully an update is coming? Or do I have a setting turned on that I need to change?
Is there any way to preview the different notification sounds? I've been trying to figure this out for several weeks but have decided to ask the experts here for help.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI saved my ringtones to my SD card and mounted it to my Eris the first week I bought my phone. They worked great under notifications and ringtones. As of last week my notification sounds wouldn't change when I chose a different sound and then it'd stay on the very first ringtone I chose. Now, the ringtones I've set for notifications won't work at all. I can hear them when I test them out, but after I set it as my current sound I won't hear it when I get a text message or anything. I know others are having this problem. Does it have to do with the update you think? Maybe Android 2.0 will fix it.....

If I click on mail and open it up I go to menu Button>more>settings>notifications but all I can do is either turn the notification on or off. I can't set an individual sound for each email acct.

And even when I try to select a default notification sound, it doesn't change to it, its stays the same as when the one that it was set to when i got the phone. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have set the stock messaging app to keep 75 text messages for each user. For some reason, once that 75 message point is exceeded, it only deletes the incoming messages. My replies are kept, and the total number goes above 75 indefinitely until I delete the long tail of my replies at the top of the thread. First, would I be correct in assuming that this is not normal behavior? Second, if that's correct, how do I fix this?
If it matters, I'm using an HTC Evo 3D with a rooted version of the stock ROM. The same problem happened before rooting. I don't believe this is a maker- or device-specific problem, but I'm happy to repost in the Evo 3D subforum if it is.
Just making the move to the Eris after using the iPhone for two years. I've taken great joy from making custom ringtones and "new text message" sounds in iTunes etc.Will I still be able to do this with the Eris? If so, how?

Everytime I try to delete my messages from the inbox, the app force closes and when i go back to the app, it'll keep force closing until I shut the phone down. When I turn the phone back on, all my messages are still in the inbox. How I can erase the text messages from my inbox?

Im using the Handscent app for text messaging. However over the last week or so when i go to open a new message, the application freezes and shuts down. When i go to open it again all my messages are deleted. They are also missing in the standard messaging app that came with the phone.
Has this happened to anyone else? If it did did you find a way to stop it happening?
Anyone else notice in the new version of handcent your now getting both txt message and handcdnt message notification in the notification bar? Used to be i only got handcent but since about a week ago i noticed I'm getting both. Text notifications are set to off too.. quite frustrating.

When she gets a text, the notification window comes up with the message, the background picture is a nicely rendered white Android holding a phone up to his "ear". Across the top, it says something along the lines of "leslie2099 is 0.7 miles away. Chat Now!". I'm an HTC Hero user with Cyanogenmod 6, so I am reasonably familiar with Froyo, but I can't figure out what this is from. Any ideas?

When I click on it and go into text messages it shows the correct time though. Anyone else experience this? It's these minor things that are frustrating to me.

I can change it to any of the preloaded stock sounds and click ok but when I get a text it still plays the stock sound. I also tried using custom and that didnt work either. I have searched and searched and found nothing. And I am using the proper folder structure on the sd card for the customs. Does anyone have any ideas at all? Im getting very frustrated.
