HTC Droid Eris :: Unable To Change Default Dialer With 2.1

I just got the 2.1 update and I'm just trying to figure everything out.The one thing that I'm having a problem with is changing the default dialer.I had this problem before using aContacts, but was able to fix it in 1.5.But now that I have the 2.1 update,I cannot change the default dialer, which hasn't changed at all. uninstalled and reinstalled aContacts but it did not work. I never got the popup asking which app I want to use as the default.If anyone can help,it would be appreciated.Maybe it's a glitch - I don't know.

I can not set a default dialer. I tried different rom including stock. I have a nexus fourth .And everywhere, always when I click on the notification of a missed call or sms the number should be. So I get the window at you select the application you want to run. I'll give that a Exdialer and always the same with me when the next event will again offer either select an application in which I want to go. Other app are set as default fine. Problem is only the dialer.

Before the OTA I was able to select which apllication was used when the large "phone" button was pushed on the homepage. I think what used to happen was that when you downloaded a new phone dialer and then pressed the phone button the first time you were given an option as to what app you want to use for this action. Once you chose an app it was always activated when you pressed the phone button. I don't see this happening anymore.

How can I change my default email notification? I have a folder on on my SD card root/media/notifications. I have ringtones and such in there. However when I go to the menu...settings...and try to change the ringtone for email...there are no options there at all to select other ones. I can only check mark off the option to be notified. How do I get to choose the other ones I have?

I moved to a different town after buying my Eris. I changed my service address at verizon.com but my phone keeps showing my old town as it's default location on the clock widget and in other apps. I know the clock widget has a change city setting, but my small town doesn't show up in their cities database. Is there any way to change the default home location of my phone?

I'm using an Eris at the moment, and favorites that were populated by default shows a card and prompts me for the desired action. I realize that selecting the name below the icon allows me to choose different actions, but I have very poor accuracy in trying to tap on just the name, so for contacts that I've added that I'm forced to choose a default action, it's very difficult for me to choose an alternate action.
The instruction manual says to "press and hold" the contact to change the default action, but that selects the entire widget to move or discard.
Does anyone know how to change the default action to prompt me each time I open a specific favorite contact?
I've seen this question for the Hero too, but with no answers. Posted on the HTC forum, but that's looking rather un-promising.

I just flashed kangerade 4.0.7 and was wondering if there is a way to make Dialer One the default dialer at the bottom of the screen. Not too keen on the default Droid dialer compared to Dialer One.

Lots of my contacts - especially my "favorite" contacts - have multiple phone #'s, which is pretty typical. So it's a nice feature in the dialer that lets you select a specific number - home, office, mobile, etc., to dial every time you pull up the favorites tab within the dialer screen. I by mistake checked "use as default number" for one particular contact, but now I want to deactivate that selection and have no default number for that particular contact.
I know how to switch the default number from one to another; is there a way to deactivate the default number and just have the phone ask me which number to dial, e.g. home, office, mobile, etc.? I've been trying to tinker with everything I can to no avail, and I've also been shut out trying to answer this question online. Only thing I haven't done is call Verizon.

After installing Dialer One to my desire, it gave me the option to set it as default when i pressed the phone button. I kept the original one but now want to change Dialer One as the default and cant find the setting?Any ideas how to change it?

I bought my Magic this summer and I'm loving it.But recently i found a bug which is starting to annoy me. When trying to make the first call with the default dialer that comes with Magic and android 1.5, it gets canceled right away. I press the top entry in the list, it goes to the call display (with the droid in the background and showing the name of call recipient), then i hear a beep and call canceled.When I try to dial again, it works! Problem is; it's really annoying to make the call twice!Has anyone experienced this problem? Or have a proposal how to fix it?

Can anyone confirm if the dialer has been fixed? I am specifically interested in hearing from people who have re-installed all of their apps/widgets from the original 2.1 leak. I know the phone runs snappier when its been wiped, but most bugs seem to creep in after most apps are restored. My current dialer (original 2.1 leak) is a steaming pile of fail. I know I am not alone!

Is there some way to set StarContact as default dialer? Can I assign StarContact to "call" button?When I first time - after installation of starcontact - press "call" i saw on screen "Complete action using..." to choose default action. OK I see there are a few threads on this so called "voice dialer".However, if you're driving along and activate voice dialer (which is simple enough, no problem there) what's the point of having to say "Call Robert Smith" and then have to look at the screen, see if it's got the correct name and touch it to make the call?Doesn't this defeat the purpose of voice activated dialing?My older Motorola Krave had a real touch free voice dialer that responded to you and asked if it's choice was correct at which point you could say "yes" and it would dial it.Now we have the latest greatest Androids that can't do that.Whoever developed this app had no clue about the dysfunction and potential hazards involved with this "feature".I love my Eris but was completely disappointed with this app.

I've searched the forums but haven't found a fix for this yet. I like to call people on my way home from work. I used to tap my bluetooth, have my phone in my purse and say 'Call Bob Mobile' and woosh - it calls Bob on his mobile. I've tried the voice dialer that came with the phone and it can't understand a work I say even when I'm holding it right next to me. It's driving me nuts. Are there any apps that will make my bluetooth call Bob when I tap it?

Iv had my Eris for about a month now and love it.It's easily the best phone I've had (my previous were all dumb phones). However, this is the frist phone I have had where the voice recognition actually works. Google voice search is incredible. The wierd thing is though, my voice dialer doesnt work AT ALL. I thought it was maybe becuase I was running ATM, but I stopped like 2 weeks ago and it still isn't working. I mean it wont recognize anything- not even redial or open calendar.

I am looking for a way to replace the Eris dialer for the GV dialer. When you first make a call with GV selected it pulls up the GV dialer google_voice_android_1.jpg.Then it switches the the Eris dialer.Does anyone know if/how the GV dialer could be used instead of the Eris'?I really like the look of the GV dialer much better than that of the Eris.

I'm not a big fan of the dialer on the eris. Not too impressed with Dialer One either.
What I do like is the dialer on the Samsung Moment. I like the tabs to switch between the call log, contacts and favorites.
Anyone know where I can find one that is similar?

If I want to call "Work," which I have 3 #s programmed for, and I press 9675, the # that pops up is the the first # that shows up for in the contact details, but it is not the one that I have programmed as the default. Are we stuck with this, there a way to change it and I'm overlooking it?
