Is there some way to set StarContact as default dialer? Can I assign StarContact to "call" button?When I first time - after installation of starcontact - press "call" i saw on screen "Complete action using..." to choose default action. I choose system dialer - that was my mistake.Can i somewhere in android change this settings now?

After installing Dialer One to my desire, it gave me the option to set it as default when i pressed the phone button. I kept the original one but now want to change Dialer One as the default and cant find the setting?Any ideas how to change it?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an LG G2 and I am using a pair of LG Tones. Whenever I click the Hands-Free button it automatically launches the Android voice dialer. It is slow, unaccurate, and obnoxious. I can use my Tones along with other voice assistant apps but I cannot change the app that is automatically launched after clicking the Hands-Free button. After all, that's why I have the Tones. I wanted to know if there was a way to substitute the default Android dialer.
Other info:
Clearing the defaults is not an option. It came as the default.
Disabling the voice dialer makes the Hands-Free button do nothing. (Interstingly enough, when trying to use my play/pause button it also wouldn't work. The other functions like volume and forward and previous track may also not have worked but I don't know I didn't try. After re-enabling the voice dialer all functions resumed functioning.)
Conclusion: I love my phone and my tones but this Voice Dialer is horrendous. Even on my S4, the default is S Voice which is even better than this.
I bought my Magic this summer and I'm loving it.But recently i found a bug which is starting to annoy me. When trying to make the first call with the default dialer that comes with Magic and android 1.5, it gets canceled right away. I press the top entry in the list, it goes to the call display (with the droid in the background and showing the name of call recipient), then i hear a beep and call canceled.When I try to dial again, it works! Problem is; it's really annoying to make the call twice!Has anyone experienced this problem? Or have a proposal how to fix it?

I have a nexus fourth .And everywhere, always when I click on the notification of a missed call or sms the number should be. So I get the window at you select the application you want to run. I'll give that a Exdialer and always the same with me when the next event will again offer either select an application in which I want to go. Other app are set as default fine. Problem is only the dialer.

View 3 Replies View RelatedBefore the OTA I was able to select which apllication was used when the large "phone" button was pushed on the homepage. I think what used to happen was that when you downloaded a new phone dialer and then pressed the phone button the first time you were given an option as to what app you want to use for this action. Once you chose an app it was always activated when you pressed the phone button. I don't see this happening anymore.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just got the 2.1 update and I'm just trying to figure everything out.The one thing that I'm having a problem with is changing the default dialer.I had this problem before using aContacts, but was able to fix it in 1.5.But now that I have the 2.1 update,I cannot change the default dialer, which hasn't changed at all. uninstalled and reinstalled aContacts but it did not work. I never got the popup asking which app I want to use as the default.If anyone can help,it would be appreciated.Maybe it's a glitch - I don't know.
View 6 Replies View RelatedLots of my contacts - especially my "favorite" contacts - have multiple phone #'s, which is pretty typical. So it's a nice feature in the dialer that lets you select a specific number - home, office, mobile, etc., to dial every time you pull up the favorites tab within the dialer screen. I by mistake checked "use as default number" for one particular contact, but now I want to deactivate that selection and have no default number for that particular contact.
I know how to switch the default number from one to another; is there a way to deactivate the default number and just have the phone ask me which number to dial, e.g. home, office, mobile, etc.? I've been trying to tinker with everything I can to no avail, and I've also been shut out trying to answer this question online. Only thing I haven't done is call Verizon.
Is there anyway I can change the default dialer that is included in the ROMS? I like the vanilla dialer over the HTC one.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWell I live in the UK with a Vodafone handset and just upgraded OTA, before the update when using the dialer and selecting a contact then selecting the number would usually dial straight away. After the update when I select the contact and select the number I want to dial what it does now is take it to the number screen with the number on thus slowing down the call process and making me put it towards my ear and pressing random numbers before realizing that I haven't even made the call yet.

Every Time I miss a Call and I click on the name/number- Its asks me to select a default option of whoch way to open that entry , that is, through Dialer or through History. I tried selecting history and clicked on the "always use this option" but the same thing kept happening every time. After a few tries, I chose the other option and did the same thing and it again kept appearing... It looks like there's a bug in this and it never really saves my preference.

View 11 Replies View RelatedSo my wife bought me a bluetooth headset (we have a hands free law starting in Ontario next month) and I finally got around to trying the default "Voice Dialer" app.Please correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like this isn't really a voice dialer. The app is _called_ voice dialer, but you can actually use it to search your phone for _anything_.When I try to use it to call someone, I say "Call Patricia". It pops up a box that asks if i want to call her work number or mobile number. At this point there doesn't seem to be any way to choose an option by _voice_, instead you have to actually press one of the options on screen.

I have installed Dolphin and like it, and I've made it my default browser, which is great. However, it is not only the system default, but it even opens links I click on in the Android provided browser (sometimes I both open). On your computer, when you click links in your non-default browser it doesn't send the links to the default one, and it shouldn't on this OS, either. Any ideas how to keep Dolphin as my system default browser, but not have it open links I click on in the Android web browser?

Using Dialer One, or Phone. And it gives me the option to "Use by default for this action".So, lets say I want to use Dialer One by default, but then I change my mind. View 4 Replies View RelatedFirst of all I have a Sprint Epic Touch 4G AKA Samsung Galaxy 2 S and not rooted,
I keep getting prompt to select which launcher(launcher or twlauncher) when I press the home button. I would select set as default and then select twlauncher. This would work fine and I could do what I want and the home button acts normally. BUT if I long press the home button to bring up task manager and a list of recent apps, it would break the default setting on twlauncher. I could go to setting and manage app and see that the default on twlauncher is now cleared even though I did not manually clear it. I tried checking set as default and then select launcher. It too won't stick AFTER I long press the home button.
Long story short, I downloaded several launchers from the market and none of them will stay set as default IF I long press the home button. It breaks the default every time and ask me to select the launcher to use when I press the home button. Now this would be great if I could just delete all the other launcher and have only one but I can't delete the stock launcher or twlauncher.
So the first time this happen, I was driving down the road using telenav when I see the prompt to select which launcher(something that I've never seen after using the phone for 2 weeks).
1. Start task manager and kill all active app and clear memory from RAM
2. Clear defaults from manage application....twlauncher
3. Click home button, click set as default and then launcher instead of twlauncher- still does not stick after long press home button.
4. Manage application...twlauncher CLEAR DATA (sure enough my neatly organized homepage and apps folder was reset to stock).
5. Pull battery
6. Cycle power on and off.
7. Gave up after 24 hours and factory reset the phone.
8. Went on my merry way and reinstall apps and customizing home page and apps pages and so on.
9. In hindsight, I should have long press home button every time I installed a new app to see which one will break the default.
10. Phone works fine for 24 hours and then it mysteriously acts up again. It ask me to choose which launcher again.
11. Went back to googling and tried the following which did not work:
a. clear media hub data and default
b. installed Sprint "clean" ID and then later deleting it.
c. installed go launcher and see if it will stick
d. installed launcher pro
e. installed home switcher
f. I don't have Qik or some child lock apps
g. search XDA and found about 15 threads and tried everything in those thread short of using Titanium to freeze one launcher.
Right now I just won't long press the home button to bring up task manager or recent apps and everything will work just fine. Minor annoyance but I guess I can live with it until the ICS update.
