Nov 1, 2010Is there anyway I can change the default dialer that is included in the ROMS? I like the vanilla dialer over the HTC one.

HTC Droid Eris :: Unable To Change Default Dialer With 2.1
May 15, 2010I just got the 2.1 update and I'm just trying to figure everything out.The one thing that I'm having a problem with is changing the default dialer.I had this problem before using aContacts, but was able to fix it in 1.5.But now that I have the 2.1 update,I cannot change the default dialer, which hasn't changed at all. uninstalled and reinstalled aContacts but it did not work. I never got the popup asking which app I want to use as the default.If anyone can help,it would be appreciated.Maybe it's a glitch - I don't know.

Sep 12, 2010When I change ROMs, does this remove the boot animation that I might have changed? I know a wipe is usually involved with a ROM change, but don't know if that will wipe the boot animation. I was going to change one, but will wait until I load a ROM so I don't have to do it twice.

Aug 30, 2010I would like to try the Fresh Rom because of 4g and I hear it has excellent battery life. However, HTC (in their infinite wisdom) has decided that we really don't need a way to toggle bluetooth on or off during a call and has removed that button from their dialer. Bluetooth, what's that? A bluetooth toggle to be used during a call? No one would need that, let's code it out on purpose! Ok, enough ranting. Is there a way to get the vanilla froyo dialer on a Fresh (sense-based) ROM?

Jun 11, 2010I'm running basic Sprint 2.1 rooted. I've removed all the bloatware, and wireless tether is working great. Pretty much everything is working great, actually, aside from the standard dialer and contact lag many people have reported, plus occasional lag in other areas.
So here's my question: Is there a custom ROM out there that solves the lagginess problem while leaving everything else basically functional and intact? I've been reading the threads around all the various ROMs, and while it seems that some offer real advantages in various areas, it also appears that each introduces its own new set of problems and dysfunctions. While I'd love a snappier phone, I don't want a bunch of new bugs, worse battery life, whatever. I mean, based on the threads here, the average custom ROM user's experience would seem to be slightly worse than my experience with the standard Sprint release.
HTC Incredible :: How To Change Default Location?
Nov 16, 2010We've recently moved to TN and my Incredible still thinks I'm in VA. All apps, like weather, Poynt, etc., show my old address, even when GPS is turned on. There must be some setting on the phone doing this, but I sure can't find it.

May 9, 2010First post here. I tried searching (a lot) and couldn't find the answer. You know the box that pops up when you send a text that asks what app you want to use? There is a message at the bottom that tells you how to change defaults once you check the "don't ask me again" box. I didn't bother to read that and now can't find where to change the default. Anyone know or can someone look at that box and read what it says at the bottom? I can't anymore since I chose a default and the box no longer pops up.

Sep 29, 2009I bought my Magic this summer and I'm loving it.But recently i found a bug which is starting to annoy me. When trying to make the first call with the default dialer that comes with Magic and android 1.5, it gets canceled right away. I press the top entry in the list, it goes to the call display (with the droid in the background and showing the name of call recipient), then i hear a beep and call canceled.When I try to dial again, it works! Problem is; it's really annoying to make the call twice!Has anyone experienced this problem? Or have a proposal how to fix it?

May 2, 2010I'm talking about the default clock/weather widget that is on the home screen...
Is it possible to make it so the widget shows weather info for a user-specified location? I was able to add an additional location once inside the HTC Weather app (by scrolling down), but I have had no luck finding anywhere to change the location that appears on the actual home screen.
It wouldn't be such a problem since it does correctly display my location (New York), but it is WAY off in terms of weather. For example, the widget is showing 72 degrees when it's actually 85. That's a HUGE difference and it's bothering me a lot.
I'm assuming it is pulling weather data from somewhere in upstate NY and not from NYC (where I am)? The manual entry I added is showing correct info, but it's very annoying having incorrect data showing up on the home screen and having to click into the widget and then scroll down to get the actual info.

I have a nexus fourth .And everywhere, always when I click on the notification of a missed call or sms the number should be. So I get the window at you select the application you want to run. I'll give that a Exdialer and always the same with me when the next event will again offer either select an application in which I want to go. Other app are set as default fine. Problem is only the dialer.

Jun 30, 2010So I installed the Jager ROM over the weekend, and today I had a problem with the SU program included not working. This sucks because now I can not back anything up or do anything that requires SU privies. The SU program just force closes when it comes up in any program that needs it. I downloaded another SU program but the old one always comes up. Is there a way to change this or uninstall the other one. I found the same one in the market but it wont install. May 21, 2010Before the OTA I was able to select which apllication was used when the large "phone" button was pushed on the homepage. I think what used to happen was that when you downloaded a new phone dialer and then pressed the phone button the first time you were given an option as to what app you want to use for this action. Once you chose an app it was always activated when you pressed the phone button. I don't see this happening anymore.

Nov 12, 2010Lots of my contacts - especially my "favorite" contacts - have multiple phone #'s, which is pretty typical. So it's a nice feature in the dialer that lets you select a specific number - home, office, mobile, etc., to dial every time you pull up the favorites tab within the dialer screen. I by mistake checked "use as default number" for one particular contact, but now I want to deactivate that selection and have no default number for that particular contact.
I know how to switch the default number from one to another; is there a way to deactivate the default number and just have the phone ask me which number to dial, e.g. home, office, mobile, etc.? I've been trying to tinker with everything I can to no avail, and I've also been shut out trying to answer this question online. Only thing I haven't done is call Verizon.

Nov 27, 2010I just picked up the Incredible today and am enjoying the phone so far. Unfortunatly, when I tried to install the included software I got the following error message:
"Error 2738. Could not access VBScrpit run time for custom action"
I tried to use the support feature on the Verizon Wireless site but the only thing that came up for that error message was a link to an article for Blackberrys.

I followed the directions on that link for the command prompt. When that did not work, I downloaded the software from the Verizon Wireless website again. Unfortunatly I got the same error message again. So either all of their software is corrupted, or something is amiss on my end. I am running Vista 32bit on this machine. I have a Windows 7 laptop I could try, but that is not my primary machine and does not have any of my music on it, so I'd rather get this one fixed.

Jul 15, 2010Well I live in the UK with a Vodafone handset and just upgraded OTA, before the update when using the dialer and selecting a contact then selecting the number would usually dial straight away. After the update when I select the contact and select the number I want to dial what it does now is take it to the number screen with the number on thus slowing down the call process and making me put it towards my ear and pressing random numbers before realizing that I haven't even made the call yet.
