I moved to a different town after buying my Eris. I changed my service address at verizon.com but my phone keeps showing my old town as it's default location on the clock widget and in other apps. I know the clock widget has a change city setting, but my small town doesn't show up in their cities database. Is there any way to change the default home location of my phone?

I have a moto droid now and I am unhappy with it. It is way to bulky and I never use the pop out keyboard. I am thinking of getting an eris. Should I make the change to an eris? Does anyone think the eris will get 2.2? Should I just save up to get the incrediable?

Is it possible to make it so the widget shows weather info for a user-specified location? I was able to add an additional location once inside the HTC Weather app (by scrolling down), but I have had no luck finding anywhere to change the location that appears on the actual home screen.
It wouldn't be such a problem since it does correctly display my location (New York), but it is WAY off in terms of weather. For example, the widget is showing 72 degrees when it's actually 85. That's a HUGE difference and it's bothering me a lot.
I'm assuming it is pulling weather data from somewhere in upstate NY and not from NYC (where I am)? The manual entry I added is showing correct info, but it's very annoying having incorrect data showing up on the home screen and having to click into the widget and then scroll down to get the actual info.

How can I change my default email notification? I have a folder on on my SD card root/media/notifications. I have ringtones and such in there. However when I go to the menu...settings...and try to change the ringtone for email...there are no options there at all to select other ones. I can only check mark off the option to be notified. How do I get to choose the other ones I have?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got the 2.1 update and I'm just trying to figure everything out.The one thing that I'm having a problem with is changing the default dialer.I had this problem before using aContacts, but was able to fix it in 1.5.But now that I have the 2.1 update,I cannot change the default dialer, which hasn't changed at all. uninstalled and reinstalled aContacts but it did not work. I never got the popup asking which app I want to use as the default.If anyone can help,it would be appreciated.Maybe it's a glitch - I don't know.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm using an Eris at the moment, and favorites that were populated by default shows a card and prompts me for the desired action. I realize that selecting the name below the icon allows me to choose different actions, but I have very poor accuracy in trying to tap on just the name, so for contacts that I've added that I'm forced to choose a default action, it's very difficult for me to choose an alternate action.
The instruction manual says to "press and hold" the contact to change the default action, but that selects the entire widget to move or discard.
Does anyone know how to change the default action to prompt me each time I open a specific favorite contact?
I've seen this question for the Hero too, but with no answers. Posted on the HTC forum, but that's looking rather un-promising.
I'm trying to set up Dropbox on my phone in order to automate some actions, but I'm having trouble with one step. Primarily, I'd like for Dropbox to be main download location for files from Dolphin, Steel, and Browser. I can't find an easy way to make this happen, and it would be awesome if I could get it to work out.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi've had my phone about 3 weeks now. up until last week, the htc weather widget would update to my current location. when i was home, it would show the town i live in. i also had the google internet option to use my location and this would also work perfectly until last sunday.now, the weather location was stuck on miami no matter where i went (as far north as west palm beach) and the internet shows up 'location unavailable'. i have found out that the gps is picking up where i am in goggle maps but it seems that the cell towers are not as far as weather and internet location are concerned. i have tried all of the obvious settings.i did a factory reset and now my weather says ft lauderdale which is closer to me but still not my town. it does not update (manually either) as i move. the internet location still says location unavailable although for a fleeting minute after the factory reset, it DID locate me....then it was gone so i called verizon, they didn't have a clue. then i took it to the store and it turns out EVERY phone the tech tried in the store had the same problem, including his. he told me it was a google problem and there was nothing he could do about it. i felt if i tried explaining how that would make it a verizon problem as well, it would be a losing battle

These will be the best phones (for how long, no one knows) by the time this summer rolls around, so if you're breaking your contract or something similarly crazy as that, read this. This is just a fraction of the research you need to do before you make a decision like that. You may decide the Eris is the best for you.
View 33 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Droid Eris for my wife. When you start Google Maps on her phone it pins "My Location" as somewhere in Northern India. Additionally, the weather HTC clock/weather widget on the home screen is showing weather for that location. The only way that I can get it to detect the correct location is to turn turn off cellular/wifi location detection and use gps exclusively. I have seen one or two posts on the Verizon forums claiming that the Eris is incapable of determining location using the cellular network and will only work with gps outdoors. I have looked through the forums here but can't seem to find any similar posts. Is anyone else having this problem with the Eris or could it possibly be a problem with this particular phone? I am hoping it is just this phone in which case I can take it back and exchange it for another one. After showing her so many different apps on my Droid that use location detection to give local information, it would be a shame if these will only work outdoors with a clear view of the sky.

I downloaded NBA League Pass Mobile because I am in Dayton, OH and Cavaliers games are rarely shown on Dayton's FSN. However, I've come to find out that this is a blackout area for League Pass. Does anyone know of a way to change the Droid's location so that League Pass thinks I am in a different city? I see there is a way on the iPhone, but I can't find anything for the Droid.

I am receiving a replacement Eris tomorrow, but before I get settled in with it, I am curious to see how common the issues I've had with my two previous Eris's? I'm listing out the issues I've had, just state whether you've had the same issues.
1 - Phone losing 3G coverage and having to restart phone for it to reacquire said coverage.
2 - Up to two minute delay between pressing "Call" and call actually being placed.
3 - GPS unable to track/find you.
4 - Browser scrolling erratically.
5 - Unable to answer incoming call (phone rings, screen goes black, hit call button, nothing happens, phone then states "missed call").
6 - Touch buttons unresponsive.
Essentially, when I receive my third Eris, I am debating whether to go ahead and find issues with it and demand another device, or if the issues listed above were mere coincidences with two different phones.

Have the bugs on your old phone been resolved, or are you still having glitches - either the same old ones or new one? Your evening quiz: Did you have to install OTA or was 2.1 already installed? If you had the problems with poor battery life, or poor signal, before, do you have them on your replacement?Anyone have any *new* bugs arise on the replacement that you didn't have before?Was the replacement (presumably a refurb) in like-new condition? Did you just pull the SD and swap it before sending the old phone back? Does it make a difference if you return it to a Verizon store, or directly back to Verizon?
