Is there a way to delete a GOOGLE account after rooted. I've tried all the suggestions about clearing data but it still says there are apps dependent on this. I can't log into the market because it wants to use the old account. I had to make a new account because my other one has been compromised. Can I do a factory reset? Will this ruin the ROM flash?

I've just purchased a new Galaxy Nexus (yay!) and my husband wants to take over my old Desire (Froyo, no other ROM installed). The Desire is rooted, but I had trouble with that process so I don't really want to reset the phone to its factory state. However, I can't delete my Google account to make my husband's the primary. This means that he has to remember to change accounts for each email he writes, among other inconveniences, and the phone is showing a triangle error icon in the notification bar because I canceled its access to my 2-step validation process, so it isn't happy about not being able to synchronize my account. Is there any way (other than resetting completely) to remove my account from the Desire?

Is this only way to delete/remove second google account from my phone? I'm using google Apps Standard Edition which is using my own domain name. Everything is ok till I add second gmail account like xxxx@gmail.com. I would like to remove it but, it said "This accont is required by some applicatins. you can only delete it by resetting the phone to factory defaults" Try kill all programs and try to remove it but, it didn't work. Call verizon and spoke with them two hours. they transfer me here and there and no solution but do a factory format.

As for syncing my contacts Facebook has mucked everything up. Any chance i can stop info being taken from facebook and just importing them myself?
Also i set up a google account but had to delete it immediately (on my pc due to the email address being entered wrong) Now I've set up a new one how the hell do i change it on the phone.My phone still thinks I'm using the one I've deleted.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got my phone yesterday, and the verizon rep insisted he needed to setup a new google account on the phone. I didn't feel like arguing since I already have one so I let him do it. Once I got home, I setup my account and sync'd all of my email and contacts, but I cannot delete the original account he setup off the phone. I also cannot sync my calendar through my account. The phone is only wanting to sync the calendar with the account he set up. Can someone offer advice on how to delete the account he setup? BTW, I have gone in and tried to delete the account, but the phone tells me applications need this account and in order to delete it, I will have to reset the phone to all defaults and all information will be lost.

How do I switch the phone over to my new Google account so I can delete the old one? I want to keep the same email notifications with the new account as well.
Having owned 11 different Android phones/tablets since 2010, I have a gazillion apps listed in my Google Play Store account. I know it is possible to individually delete apps from my phone/tablet, but for the love of all things telephony, once you delete an app it takes you back to the frickin' top of the list. I thought there would be a simple way to do this by going to the Play Store on my laptop, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get rid of them. I realize it is not a big deal, but being the obsessive person that I am, once I try to do something.
When I log into my Google Play Store account on my laptop and go to "My Apps", it lists all the apps that I have ever downloaded, but there doesn't appear to be a way to delete them like there is on a device!
cant delete built in apps unless rooted, correct? since(i believe) this is the case, does anyone know of a way to stop them from gobbling up memory automatically? like footprints to name just one.

Once I got my refurb phone I switched my gmail account on my phone to the one I used to purchase the app since my school gmail account lacks some features but my app was not available to download. I took a jump by rooting my eris, and now I have a problem and don't know how to fix it! which is frustrating, but it is exactly the reason why I rooted in the first place! To have a reason to learn this stuff! So here I am reaching for help. The problem with my phone is that when I open google maps and type two or three characters on it it force closes on me. 50% of the reason to get this phone was for google maps. It could replace a gps with longer battery life than 4 hours which means I can leave the house and ride all day without having to plug it in. Any way I have tried turning off the phone, turning it back on, and clearing the settings on the application then turning it off again. still I get a force close message. It is using 2.1, but I am not sure which version it is using. would updating to a newer rom like 2.1 v3 help? if so how would I go about it?

Droid X - Configured with a Google Apps Premiere, working great. Attempting to add a personal GMail account. Go to the GMail app, select add account, fill in the metrics and then...... "Needs to communicate" message for ~ 3 minutes, then bombs out with - "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". 3G is fine, on a wifi connection that is fine, web browser works fine..... Google Apps account works fine.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two gmail accounts, each with their own Google Voice account. Account 1 is my primary account, and I have even ported my phone number to this account. I'm using this account on my phone (nexus 5), and have 0 issues with this account. All texts, voicemails, etc come through with no issues. Account 2 is largely not used. I would like to use account 2 on my nexus 7, for texts, and maybe making calls if I don't want to give out my real number to someone.
My issue is when I'm logged in to account 2 on my nexus 7, I'm getting text notifications for account 1 on my nexus 7. But if I were to open Google Voice on the nexus 7, once GV refreshes, the texts disappear. It doesn't happen the other way around. If I get a text/vm to account 2, it does not notify my phone, which is logged in to account 1.
I've checked the settings in both GV accounts, and neither account is linked to the other, or to send copies of texts/vm notifications to the other. How do I stop notifications from GV account 1 to stop displaying on account 2? I have cleared cache, data, uninstalled the app. The only thing i have not done, is a reset of the nexus 7.
I was initially logged in to account 1 on my nexus 7, but I would have thought removing the app from the device would have essentially erased all traces of the account 1 on the nexus 7. I even signed out of hangouts, to make sure Google was not treating this like my phone, and sending it both places.
Is it possible to use a google account for features such as google contacts and latitude? I know this is not possible for Android market, but would it be possible for other google products? I saw it is possible on this Android 2.0 review: Android 2.0 Review: Almost Human Did they remove this feature from the 2.1 that Hero uses, or can't I just find it?
View 8 Replies View RelatedIn the email app that came with my Sprint HTC Evo, I added my googleapps email... I then later discovered the gmail android app works better.. So I set it up there also. However, the email app still has my email account setup in it.. I don't see a way to delete it. I've held down the account, but no context menu shows up.. there's no delete function apparently.. I'd add another account to test with, but I'm afraid I won't be able to delete that either!
