View 23 Replies View RelatedWith people on here asking what the difference between the Eris and other phones are, I stumbled upon this article and thought I would share. It's the EVO 4G vs. the Nexus One vs. the Incredible. The last two will be on VZW, while the EVO will be Sprint only, I believe. Verizon Droid Incredible vs. Sprint Evo 4G vs. Google Nexus One -- Spec fight! | Android Central. Do you really need to make the switch? This should help you. These will be the best phones (for how long, no one knows) by the time this summer rolls around, so if you're breaking your contract or something similarly crazy as that, read this. This is just a fraction of the research you need to do before you make a decision like that. You may decide the Eris is the best for you.
View 33 Replies View RelatedI have a moto droid now and I am unhappy with it. It is way to bulky and I never use the pop out keyboard. I am thinking of getting an eris. Should I make the change to an eris? Does anyone think the eris will get 2.2? Should I just save up to get the incrediable?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am receiving a replacement Eris tomorrow, but before I get settled in with it, I am curious to see how common the issues I've had with my two previous Eris's? I'm listing out the issues I've had, just state whether you've had the same issues.
1 - Phone losing 3G coverage and having to restart phone for it to reacquire said coverage.
2 - Up to two minute delay between pressing "Call" and call actually being placed.
3 - GPS unable to track/find you.
4 - Browser scrolling erratically.
5 - Unable to answer incoming call (phone rings, screen goes black, hit call button, nothing happens, phone then states "missed call").
6 - Touch buttons unresponsive.
Essentially, when I receive my third Eris, I am debating whether to go ahead and find issues with it and demand another device, or if the issues listed above were mere coincidences with two different phones.
I'm curious about what your experience has been if you've had to get a replacement phone. Have the bugs on your old phone been resolved, or are you still having glitches - either the same old ones or new one? Your evening quiz: Did you have to install OTA or was 2.1 already installed? If you had the problems with poor battery life, or poor signal, before, do you have them on your replacement?Anyone have any *new* bugs arise on the replacement that you didn't have before? Was the replacement (presumably a refurb) in like-new condition? Did you just pull the SD and swap it before sending the old phone back? Does it make a difference if you return it to a Verizon store, or directly back to Verizon?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI moved to a different town after buying my Eris. I changed my service address at verizon.com but my phone keeps showing my old town as it's default location on the clock widget and in other apps. I know the clock widget has a change city setting, but my small town doesn't show up in their cities database. Is there any way to change the default home location of my phone?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm so thankful for this place, but there's so much info I'm not sure I can read it all fast enough!I have a couple quick questions(I just got my Eris yesterday)...there are 2 things I want to do:
1) decide which notifications I get...for example I don't need my phone to let me know I have FB messages or updates or emails...I'll check that on my own, but VM and missed calls I'd like to get a notification(tone and flash deal)
2) How do I shut off the vibrations when I'm touching the phone in any way? I don't really need it to vibrate at all...never been a fan of that
I plan on letting the battery drain down all the way before fully charging it back up, and my husband and I are getting the nifty better batteries too.I just want to remove any unnecessary(totally spelled wrong) things...And I did install an app killer.what is the concencus on this? Should I just uninstall it? I don't use a lot of these things so I thought it would be good to kill some apps unless I need them on demand.
Just curious, found a couple that I would like to have (sports related) that Android Market doesn't have anything close to.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhat's up guys. I currently have an iPhone, but I am having to switch back over to the Verizon network due to various circumstances. Anyways, I am most likely going to get the Droid Eris...seems to be the best phone for me that Verizon has to offer. The Moto Droid is just ugly in my opinion, and I hate the keyboard it has.Back on topic, I have read that you cannot get Yahoo email on Droid phones. Is there any way that you can get around that system and get Yahoo email accounts synced to the phone without having to pay for Yahoo Plus? I attempted to search for the answer on here already, but I wasn't able to find one.
View 6 Replies View Relatedlooking for some educated feedback on this, is the droid really better in terms of power than the eris? i returned the eris because i thought it was too slow and didn't stack up to what the droid is, but was i wrong?
i look at the verizonwireless website and they have the same stats, except for the keyboard of course. but then i hear some htc users say that the eris is just as powerful as the droid and can do everything that the droid can in terms of performance. on the other hand i get people telling me that the droid is the 'powerhouse' and ive read that the droid is the 'high-end' phone. people have told me about better cpu/processor/memory - is this true and is it noticeable? and will it effect the phones longevity compared to the eris for the future? i heard that it will as more updates comes out... someone told me that the eris will never be up to par with the droid hardware wise and that the droid is the safe bet if you want the most from future updates ... also read that the eris will be 'long in the tooth' (old) faster.
Is there an app that lets you easily move your apps and info from an old phone to a new one?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was just having one of those moments of thought about switching my phone from an Incredible to the Droid X, still tossing the idea around, but say I do....what happens to the apps that I bought on the Incredible...would they be useable on say a newer Android based phone?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSeeing as Motorola is locking down the Motorola Droid X and likely the Droid 2, what should I replace my Moto Droid with? I've been totally happy with the phone to the extent that I tell people it's the coolest thing I've ever owned in my entire life... that's 51 years for you youngsters. I'm of course on Verizon and will stay with Verizon. I've paid zero attention to any phones other than the Moto Droids. Alas, lockdown is not acceptable. So now I have to go through the whole learning process all over again.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for an app that will let me read and write to "usenet" forums on my incoming Droid Incredible. Suggestions?
View 3 Replies View RelatedBeing that i have the original droid and its not a year old, i think im just going to wait to get a new phone. Rooting has already taken the droid to 1ghz and beyond, plus froyo is available too. Verzion will be redoing their network soon, so that means many phones will be useless. I really would like to tryout the droid x, but the only way for me to get it is to pay outright or buy it off of ebay. The droid 2 will be coming out soon, but the specs on it are kinda shady right now. These are just my thoughts. What are yours?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new to Android. I want to know how we can connect two android mobiles. Why I want to do that??? Here is the idea. I want two players to log in with the help of android device. The device sends the request to the server. The server authenticates them and they both are now connected. These both players can now compete in the quiz. That's the whole idea. Can anyone tell me how is that possible?

BitBop just released their Android app so that we can watch (or download) full length TV shows to our phones.

I downloaded it and I'm going to give it a shot. I'll report back with my opinions after a couple days. Finally some mobile TV other than Verizon's crappy Vcast!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using GLSurfaceView to render OpengGL 3D. It works great on my nexus one, the emulators, and at least the G1. However, on the droid, the textures are white. I've seen this problem before when textures aren't loaded, and also when they aren't powers of two dimensions (not the case here). What's weird is that this started when I converted my program to use GLSurfaceView (it used to be based on some older example where I was doing the EGL stuff myself).
Textures displayed on the screen are white, but shapes that are just colors are displayed just fine.
The person testing this for me on their droid does not have the sdk, so if anyone would like to run this with the debugger, let me know and I can get you the apk.
Another silly question. sorry and newbie here. me and my son have the moto droid..is it possible for me to purchase apps for his phone?
