I am new to Android. I want to know how we can connect two android mobiles. Why I want to do that??? Here is the idea. I want two players to log in with the help of android device. The device sends the request to the server. The server authenticates them and they both are now connected. These both players can now compete in the quiz. That's the whole idea. Can anyone tell me how is that possible?

I am new to this forum and I would like to throw out this question and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. I am developing an Android application and I would like to setup a tcp/ip type of connection between two Android phones using the 3G/Edge network. My test version will establish a connection if I have both phones on a lan using wifi but when I use T-Mobile's network a connection is not established. Could this issue be a port or ip address?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have 4 android phones at our house (2 HTC Wildfires and 2 HTC Arias). All four phones have been working flawlessly with the home wifi. Until today. For no reason at all, none of the phones will connect to the wifi. Nothing has changed. The phones have not been updated, the we haven't touched the router or the modem. Just to double check that the password hadn't been hacked, I fired up my laptop, and it's working great. The phones will "see" the signal, and report that it's excellent, they just won't connect.
I've tried battery pulls, recycling the wifi setting on the phones, resetting the router, changing the security type, double and triple checking passwords, and the only thing that would allow them to connect was to remove all security from my router and make it an open network. They connected to that just fine, but it's not something I'm comfortable leaving.
I just got a replacement yesterday for my phone since my old one would not connect to GPS. All was fine, I rooted and installed Radioactive FroYo 1.8.9 (or what ever the newest is) plug my phone in at 11pm, wake up at 8am and my phone wasn't fully charged. I unplugged it and checked my email which only took a minute and it dropped to about 50%. WTF I thought, so I plug it into my laptop and it detected it, then I unplugged it, then I plugged it in again and nothing happened, wiggled the cord around and it would go in and out of being connected to the computer. So this phone has a bad USB or something, which would explain why a couple times last night I heard the single chime coming from my phone. So now I have to reflash my phone and have Sprint order me another phone.

What I want to do is use my old Dell Streak as a GPS/media player in my car without having service to it. I would like it to connect to my current phone so I can make call through it, like a headunit with hands free bluetooth calling. I'm not so much worried about data, though it would be a plus but I don't think Android supports connecting to ad-hoc networks. I can't seem to find any app that supports this, and I'm not seeing anywhere on the Android system where this is possible. I haven't owned a car stereo that supports bluetooth calling so I'm not sure what to look for.

So I would have the app running in the background on Phone A, then when it finds another Android phone B, it saves certain information like time, GPS location, just state variables.
But if the other phone is also running the same app, the two phones connect and share trivial non-private information.
Hypothetically, would this be possible? Would I go through a local ad-hoc Wi-Fi connection, or constantly broadcast Bluetooth?
Is there an app that lets you easily move your apps and info from an old phone to a new one?

I've been totally happy with the phone to the extent that I tell people it's the coolest thing I've ever owned in my entire life... that's 51 years for you youngsters. I'm of course on Verizon and will stay with Verizon. I've paid zero attention to any phones other than the Moto Droids. Alas, lockdown is not acceptable. So now I have to go through the whole learning process all over again.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have the HTC Droid Eris. Before the 2.1 update, I just had Facebook sync, but afterwards, it was synced with Facebook for HTC Sense. My problem is that it won't let me sync with just Facebook.I still want my contacts to sync with my phone, because I like the facebook pictures on there. Personally, I like Facebook sync better, because I don't like having all my Facebook contacts on my phone, because the numbers show up twice (number that I have on my phone plus the number that my friends have on Facebook).To prevent that from happening, I would rather have my phone connected to Facebook only and not Facebook for HTC Sense.I thought I could do it, but it won't let me even click on Facebook--like, nothing pops up or anything.I wasn't sure if it was my phone, so I took my dad's Eris and tried to do the same, it works fine on his phone, but I can't get mine to do sync with facebook whatsoever. Rooting has already taken the droid to 1ghz and beyond, plus froyo is available too. Verzion will be redoing their network soon, so that means many phones will be useless. I really would like to tryout the droid x, but the only way for me to get it is to pay outright or buy it off of ebay. The droid 2 will be coming out soon, but the specs on it are kinda shady right now. These are just my thoughts. What are yours?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using GLSurfaceView to render OpengGL 3D. It works great on my nexus one, the emulators, and at least the G1. However, on the droid, the textures are white. I've seen this problem before when textures aren't loaded, and also when they aren't powers of two dimensions (not the case here). What's weird is that this started when I converted my program to use GLSurfaceView (it used to be based on some older example where I was doing the EGL stuff myself).
Textures displayed on the screen are white, but shapes that are just colors are displayed just fine.
The person testing this for me on their droid does not have the sdk, so if anyone would like to run this with the debugger, let me know and I can get you the apk.

Have a USB device attached to the Android phone. The phone listens for data on this USB device. (The USB device is connected to a USB->RS-232 converter that has I/O attached to it)

Ok it seems to me that most of android phones came without tethering (officially, I'm not speaking about rooted phone due to possibile warranty issues).
I know that there is pdanet that add this support but 29$ is damn expensive, and it looks like a win/mac only (I'm a linux user).
All my phones had tethering capability (and i have a tethering allowed dataplan) cause I do need tethering is some circumstances, and I don't think that I am the only one!
Is there a list of all tethering enabled android phones?
If not i could be usefull to have some kind of wiki style list of tethering enabled phones.
Is there a way to ensure that my Android UI will display as expected across different phones ?
