View 5 Replies View RelatedI was just having one of those moments of thought about switching my phone from an Incredible to the Droid X, still tossing the idea around, but say I do....what happens to the apps that I bought on the Incredible...would they be useable on say a newer Android based phone?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSeeing as Motorola is locking down the Motorola Droid X and likely the Droid 2, what should I replace my Moto Droid with? I've been totally happy with the phone to the extent that I tell people it's the coolest thing I've ever owned in my entire life... that's 51 years for you youngsters. I'm of course on Verizon and will stay with Verizon. I've paid zero attention to any phones other than the Moto Droids. Alas, lockdown is not acceptable. So now I have to go through the whole learning process all over again.
View 10 Replies View RelatedBeing that i have the original droid and its not a year old, i think im just going to wait to get a new phone. Rooting has already taken the droid to 1ghz and beyond, plus froyo is available too. Verzion will be redoing their network soon, so that means many phones will be useless. I really would like to tryout the droid x, but the only way for me to get it is to pay outright or buy it off of ebay. The droid 2 will be coming out soon, but the specs on it are kinda shady right now. These are just my thoughts. What are yours?

BitBop just released their Android app so that we can watch (or download) full length TV shows to our phones.

I downloaded it and I'm going to give it a shot. I'll report back with my opinions after a couple days. Finally some mobile TV other than Verizon's crappy Vcast!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using GLSurfaceView to render OpengGL 3D. It works great on my nexus one, the emulators, and at least the G1. However, on the droid, the textures are white. I've seen this problem before when textures aren't loaded, and also when they aren't powers of two dimensions (not the case here). What's weird is that this started when I converted my program to use GLSurfaceView (it used to be based on some older example where I was doing the EGL stuff myself).
Textures displayed on the screen are white, but shapes that are just colors are displayed just fine.
The person testing this for me on their droid does not have the sdk, so if anyone would like to run this with the debugger, let me know and I can get you the apk.
Another silly question. sorry and newbie here. me and my son have the moto droid..is it possible for me to purchase apps for his phone?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've written a program in Java that takes in an image file and manipulates the image. Now I'm trying to access the camera so that I can take the photo and give it to the image processing program however I'm lost as to how to do this. I've read the information about the camera class and how to ask for permissions but I don't know how to actually take the photo. If anyone has any tips on where I should begin or if they know of a good tutorial..

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to access the USB port on Android phones? (Droid X for example)
Here is my usage case:
Have a USB device attached to the Android phone. The phone listens for data on this USB device. (The USB device is connected to a USB->RS-232 converter that has I/O attached to it)
This would be slick if possible. Does anyone know if this is possible?
Ok it seems to me that most of android phones came without tethering (officially, I'm not speaking about rooted phone due to possibile warranty issues).
I know that there is pdanet that add this support but 29$ is damn expensive, and it looks like a win/mac only (I'm a linux user).
All my phones had tethering capability (and i have a tethering allowed dataplan) cause I do need tethering is some circumstances, and I don't think that I am the only one!
Is there a list of all tethering enabled android phones?
If not i could be usefull to have some kind of wiki style list of tethering enabled phones.
Is there a way to ensure that my Android UI will display as expected across different phones ?

Does anyone know if there is a way to edit previous searches on android phones without the trackpad/d-pad. If you pull up a previous search in the quick search box, you have the option to select it. Once you select it, it will immediately begin searching but it will not give you the option to edit your previous search parameters? Any workarounds?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've checked the forum and found a couple threads related to my question but they all seem to end without a definitive answer, so here goes.....
I'm looking for a checkbook register app that can be installed on 2 Android phones and will sync with one another. Example: My wife makes a purchase and records it in the application.....I am then able to open the app on my device and view the purchase she just recorded and vice versa. As I stated above, I have checked multiple recommendations from other threads, (e.g., cashflow, firewallet, financisto, etc...), but none of them are clear as to whether or not they sync between multiple devices.
