Just saw this article at Brighthand. HTC Hero Getting Android OS 2.1 in Early Spring.I would assume that may mean the Eris is also going to have to wait until Spring time as well?

One of the big things I was looking forward to with 2.1 was full flash support. But, as we should have expected, thats a no go for 1st gen phones. In this article they make mention of the processor architecture being the reason, does this mean that even after root and some hacking it will never work? Or is that just Adobe's excuse? No Flash 10.1 for 1st gen Android phones

I like the Eris a lot but there ARE a couple things that I think I'm getting tired of. First is it's slow most of the time, and second, the camera is just not living up to my expectations. View 17 Replies View RelatedWould you say the upgrade from the Hero to the EVO is worth paying $10 extra a month? This is my big hangup, as I don't have 4g and I frankly don't want to spend $10 for nothing (who does?). Since my Hero is under warranty from Best Buy, I could hypothetically return it and get the contract price for the EVO, since I bought my Hero under contract (this would work, right?). I am coming close to a month for my Hero, so this option would only be viable for a short period; after that, it is the point of no return for me. All in all, I am wondering if YOU would say it is worth the extra $120 a year upgrading from the Hero, to the EVO? I just watched a video of the EVO last night and saw how smooth it is and how much bigger it is than the HERO and I just thought that I want it, but it is gay how sprint added the $10. Sorry if I am ranting on and on, but I am just wondering from previous HERO owners only, do you think it is really worth it? I am semi-content with my Hero (at least I was till I saw how smooth the EVO ran), but if it is hands down worth the extra $120, I just might go for it.

View 49 Replies View RelatedMy gmail was coming in pretty fast, now today it isn't. I have to manually refresh it now. Maybe I changed something, if so can you direct me where I need to check please? They are not showing up in my notification nar at this time (after refresh) either. I really like that bar too! Also, the data sycnronizing or connected HTC Sync icon (right by the gps and 3g icons) keeps coming on and off every few seconds. Is this normal? While I'm at it, the 3g icon's arrows (up and down) do the same thing all the time.I'm a yahoo guy and setup my gmail to import my yahoo, now all day it hasn't been when refreshing, etc. Gmail issues today perhaps? I think from all of my reading on here and messing with the phone I did something perhaps?
View 7 Replies View RelatedAnyone else have this problem? about 1 out of 4 calls the people on the other end (whether they call me or i call them) can hear me but i can't hear them. just happened again, though this time i tried 5 times in a row to make a call and it apparently went through but i had no audio. finally on the 6th try i could hear. also, i received a call but the phone never rung.
on an unrelated note i just had to resign into google. and a couple of forced close problems. hoping this isn't 2.1 related. though i had the audio problem before.
I am running 1.5..When I get a 2nd incoming call my phone does a lond double beep and cuts out current call..I can't hear the 1st caller and they can't hear me...Has anyone had this problem and if so how can I fix it...Verizon of course has never heard this complaint..I did a full reset...Even with just stock apps it does this..They offered to send me a refurb one...

Yet, I've been unable to find a nice app in the marketplace that allows me to simply input my starting odometer and my ending odometer when I get home, and arrive at a simple calculation as to how many miles I traveled on that particular trip and what my approximate tax write-off would be.
On the Iphone, I used to use an app called "MileBug". It was great. Sadly I haven't been able to find anything that compares to that app in android. Do any of you know of a good app for such a purpose? I'm not interested in the plethora of apps available to monitor my gas mileage or my MPG. I just want a simple application that allows me to quickly record my miles traveled per trip.
So I just recently updated to the 2.1 and I've been having lots of trouble with contacts. Every single one of my contacts in my call history is listed as unknown even though I have them all in "people". Furthermore, when I go to Messages>Compose message and type in a person's name in where it says "To" they do not come up in the search results despite being part of of my "people" contacts. Is there anyway I can fix this without having to reset my enitre phone?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I got my new Eris, the Verizon guy offered to swap my contacts from my old phone to the new one (as usual). He did so. After getting home, I noticed he'd also downloaded all the accumulated contacts 9 mostly crap) from my Google Mail account as well. I went and deleted them all but now I keep getting a notification saying that I deleted TOO MANY? It then gives me three choices, one of which is delete them. The notification keeps coming back.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyone have a problem with the onscreen keypad not coming up when a call is in progress? My credit card company called me with an automated message to notify me about possible fraud on one of my credit cards. At one point to continue with the call, I had to press "1", but the onscreen keypad would not come up when I tapped on the keypad icon. I kept tapping but nothing happened, and ended up losing the call. The keypad icon has worked on other calls, just not this one.

View 16 Replies View RelatedIf this has already been posted i looked at the search windows to see if there where some related ones and didn't find any. i was wounding if there was any good SMS/MMS apps out there that don't make your phone laggy and is there a way to make it so like Chomp or Handcent comes up in Advanced Task Killer instead of stock messaging. in other words can i make it so my stock messaging app donesnt even start up and my Market app is there. also is there a good keyboard app that is better than the stock one and again doesn't make my phone laggy.

Ive been playing with the stock MP3 player, and likes the way it intergrates with the lock screen, but I find that it repeats lots of songs while in shuffle mode on playlists ><. I tried a few of the Meridian and Mixzing players, and really don't like the interfaces, and Intergration into the lock screen is a major + for me which neiither of these have. I guess what i'm looking for is something to replace my ipod 30GB (4th Gen?) thats slowly showing its age. That was the most user friendly, functional music player ive ever used.

Lasted over 8 days. I can't post the pic now because I'm on my phone, but I'll upload it later.
It seems like since the 2.1 install, the home button is not nearly as sensitive. Also the screen sensitivity seems lower as well. I have to try several times to get it to click. Is there a way to change the sensitivity??
