Does anyone know of any good home replacements on 1.5? I've only used sense, home, and slidescreen, none of which I am super happy with. Helix Launcher looks great, but I think is only 2.1.

Was just thinking about replacing my Eris, and was wondering if the Incredible would be the logical step up from the Eris. I like the Eris a lot but there ARE a couple things that I think I'm getting tired of. First is it's slow most of the time, and second, the camera is just not living up to my expectations. Anyone have opinions on this?

It is by far the fastest most stable home replacement I have ever used. It is in the market so I suggest you check it out if you are looking for something different!

I found ahome on appbrains website, but all of the ones I find say they work for android 1.1 software and then 1.6 software. How can I get it for my droid running 1.5?

I'm wanting to know if its possible to change the folder icon to something else WITHOUT using a home replacement, I'm not ready to give up sence yet.

It's really quite awesome. I went ahead and bought the pro version. I've only been using it for about 2 hours or so, but if you enjoy organized information, this is fantastic.

When using a home replacment like Helix, Home++, etc. does the android home still run in the background and reduce performance? I had a lot of stuff on my stock home but just switched to Helix so how do i stop/disable stock home if it is running?

I tried lockbot, but it changes style on every lock, and it has some weird bug where if I use the button to lock it, it goes black, then the unlock screen appears (screen doesn't turn off). I do not care much about theming it myself as long as it has a halfway decent theme to begin with, but I do not want to pay for it (yes, I am cheap :P ) and want to get rid of the lag associated with the default lock screen.

I couldn't even last the whole day - as soon as I got to work I switched it back over to sweeterhome. It'd be nice if they allowed you to change wallpapers, and/or the side color rainbow thing. But all in all I love it. And I am not complaining. Go to Slide Screen by Larva Labs. I didn't care for that "power strip" in Home++ either (can you turn it off?). I wished it would import all the icons from my regular home screen into Home++ so I don't have to re-create everything. Does anyone else out there have a better home screen replacement program? I saw people talking about GDE but I couldn't find the actual application in the Market Place. I also looked at the Panda Home but from the screen shots, it looked weird. I like the plain-jane version that came with my phone. I don't want fancy skins or colors or bells and whistles.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have been working on a replacement for the stock Car Home app for a bit, and I am completely stumped on how to override the Home button so that my app will be brought back to the foreground whenever the phone is docked. This is the way that Car Home works, so there must be a way. It seems that BroadcastReceivers won't work, because the intent that is broadcast whenever the Home button is pressed will still cause the default homescreen app to launch; I cannot prevent it. I can override the Home button from within my app, but that does me no good since this needs to work when the user is outside my app. Car Home also does not do anything weird like set itself as the default homescreen app while it's running (I checked the logcat to make sure).
I've been really beating my head against the wall on this. Does anyone have any ideas, or can you at least point me in the right direction?
I've been playing around with Home++ lately and have really been liking the feel of this home replacement. Currently I'm using DxTop and while I am really impressed with it as well, I feel like changing it up a bit.
I'm just wondering if having both of them installed on my phone is going to kill the battery faster, make it lag, or generally cause any issues with normal phone operation. Also, if I select to use one of them as my default home screen, does it automatically stop the other one or will I have two home replacements running at once?
We all know the buttons are missing.. but are there any apps that could add widgets to the home screens? Or a home replacement?

View 49 Replies View RelatedI searched "contacts" and didn't see anything. I have a Moto Droid 1, was chatting with someone who has a Epic and their contacts app has a bunch more fields. I tried about 6 free ones from the Market and they all stunk really bad. I don't mind paying for one, I just want something that offers more than what I got. Also, would it be possible if I found somebody with a Samsung Epic for them to pull the .APK off their device and me putting it on mine? Mine's rooted if that helps.

I find this annoying, and I still want to use the standard Sense UI. I'd use something like the regular Homescreen, but then I'll make myself use Live Wallpapers. I also need it to have music controls, since I frequently use music on my Eris. Sorry if that sounded demanding.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHey everybody, I've looked for an answer on here, but to no avail. I tried to root my replacement Eris with 1.5, and HBOOT 1.47. Everything was going well until it got to the point of making a recovery, which for some reason, my phone wouldn't let me do. Infuriated and frustrated, I followed the steps to go back to 1.5 to a tee. However, I miss Vlingo so much, and i went to install the OTA 2.1, and it aborted the installation. I now have HBOOT 1.49.2000, so does my phone basically think I have the 2.1v3 leak, or am I just flat-out screwed? Done multiple factory resets, etc. and they haven't helped either

I've also heard that these apps don't play nice with the Droid's resolution/format/size screen. Has anybody tried any (or preferably all) of these three apps? Are you able to provide some of the pros and cons of each so I can make an informed decision? I would like to try out some of these options, I'm a huge customization freak.
