I just got the Nook for my bday yesterday and its pretty awesome. Already have THAT rooted too haha. Just on principle
One of the things that i factored into my decision between that and the kindle is the fact that the Nook is Android powered. Am I wrong in thinking though that if a non-Android powered e-reader (the kindle), has an Android application, then why the hell doesn't the Nook?

I've sent dozens of e-mails to Barnes and Noble support asking for them to make their ereader available for Android. I couldn't understand what was taking so long, since the nook is an Android device (that has, in fact, been rooted!).Finally, it's here and available in the Market: nook for Android - Barnes*&*Noble.I posted this thread before downloading the app, because I was so excited that it's finally here. I have to say, it's HUGE --about 30MB, which is why I promptly moved it to my SD card (which you can only do if you're rooted and running an apps2sd compatible ROM or Froyo ROM).

Unfortunately when I click on an ePub book, even one that I downloaded from the B&N Nook store, my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 displays an error message stating that it cannot find an app to run the file. If I run Nook first, I can open files by clicking an icon in its list of books. Unfortunately that *only* lists epub books that I downloaded from Barnes & Noble, not any of my other books. (I have ePub books I bought directly from Baen, for example -- no joy.)

View 2 Replies View RelatedRight now I have tried a lot of options to get my Nook Color running CM7 to get internet access at work (buggy driver on B&N that doesn't work with our EAP settings), and none of my alternatives are good enough.
I was running my own access point from my computer but then the telecom guys told me to turn it off. Tried Bluetooth tether and that just doesn't work very well (it constantly drops connections).
So I want something seemingly very simple, but I can't find anything anywhere on how to do it. I want to plug my Nook into my computer and use that computer's internet connection. I imagine it can't be very difficult using ADB, but I can't find any information about it.
I have Arch Linux and Debian Linux at work.
I've been trying to root my Nook Tablet to CM10 unsuccessfully. I found this [URL]..... which led me to believe that downgrading to the 1.4.0 update would be useful.
I followed the link from this, [URL] ..... and downloaded the .zip and put it on an mSD. I proceeded to place it in the tablet, turned it on, and the update went through and my screen went black. After a minute or so I hit the power on button, and nothing happened. Nothing works on it now. I've tried hitting the power button for 20+ seconds then the 2 seconds, as well as the power + N button. The screen remains black. I can connect the nook to my computer and the power cable lights up, as well as when it's placed on the wall.
The Nook Tablet (it's a BNTV250) isn't turning on.
I would like to connect my Yamaha digital piano to my Nook HD (I currently connect the paino to a PC via Midi IN/OUT to USB cable which works fine). I thought that rooting the Nook and running USB Host Check would provide the answer but the apps I have tried (Perfect Piano being the most appropriate) don't recognise a device as being connected. View 9 Replies View RelatedI rooted my nook tablet 16GB to 2.3 first and then installed android 4.0. But now I really need to get it back to its original state because I need that microphone and other stuff working.
Anyway, here I am stuck on the CWM-Based Recovery v5.5.0.4. It wouldn't let me install any zip file that I put it on my microSD card. It also says that the image file is corrupt when I choose to install from the card.

I reckon that I have deleted all the data from partitions such as boot, system, cache, etc all of them. Hence, the Nook tablet isn't starting into any mode except the recovery mode of ClockWorkMod. How to restore the boot entries of a Nook 16GB tablet?

I put them in My Documents, but when I try to load them, it just sits there for about 30 seconds and then force closes. I would like to leave the headset powered on and when I receive a call, either answer it from the headset or from the Eris depending on where I am/what I'm doing etc. Is this possible? Or if the headset is on will I always have to answer the call from there? I believe that I've heard that this is the way headsets work but I was hoping that I might be able to choose my answer "mode".

View 24 Replies View RelatedImagine my surprise when I went to open a purchased book on my Kindle App, and was told that I had exceeded the max number of devices registered to my Kindle account. Upon further investigation, I found that each time I flashed a new rom, it registered as a new device on my Kindle / Amazon account! This was easily rectified by deregistering all but the "6th Eris Device" and I'm good to go. Just thought I'd share this with those readers here who use the Kindle App - no need to do a small flip-out, like I did.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI haven't seen any comments on the new Kindle app specifically regarding the Droid. I downloaded it a few days ago and it is great.
IMO the Kindle app is the best ebook reader - great selection of titles, easy to purchase, good prices and just a top notch app. It also automatically synchs with all of my other Kindle compatible devices.
But what really stands out in this app, over other ebook readers on the Droid is the fact that the developers found a way to lower the screen brightness - lower than I've seen with any other app - so you can read in a dark room (in bed) without staring at a bright screen. Plus, just in case that contrast isn't low enough, the developers added a sepia background, under "View Options." This makes the background an off-white.
I highly recommend this app as the best ebook reader for the Droid.

I'm sure there is a thread for this but i can't seem to find it but does anyone know if you can keep the droid powered off while charging it? i have the dock and every time i shut down the droid and put it on the dock or plug in the micro usb the droid powers back on.

My phone dropped from my pocket into the toilet. It was in there for no longer than 5 seconds. I took out the battery and tried to dry everything off. In a panic I turned it back on to see if it would work. I wasn't thinking at all. It started to turn on, then the screen flickered and everything went black. I dried it out properly and it still won't turn on. I've plugged it into the charger, nothing. Is my phone now useless? My mom says will not buy me another phone until the contract is up, in over a year. Is there anything I can do? Or did I completely screw myself?
If my phone is gone, can I still save my contacts and/or pictures?

Today I dropped my HTC Hero on the ground from less than a foot above and when it dropped it turned off so I went to turn it back on and after multiple tries finally got it to the hold screen. When I went to pull down the hold screen to go to the home screen it went to the screen when you're turning it on that says "hTc". I immediately hit end and it goes back to the hold screen then when I pull it down it again it says that some of the applications, which I assume by their name is part of the phone processing, isn't working so I have to force it close. The weird thing is I still get my emails and texts and when a phone call comes in it says the Android application isn't working. Anybody know what is going on here?
