Using Cron4Phone:
I want to shutdown the phone every night at a certain time via cron. Normally in Linux, you can use shutdown -h or Poweroff. Neither command works.
Their command in the program uses reboot -p which I understand to not be a good way to shutdown the phone as it is essentially the same as a battery pull.
I have busybox installed and have tried with full root permissions using busybox poweroff -f and nothing happens. Is there a simple command that I can push in there to safely shut down the phone?
on my Treo I used to have an app called "Radio" which allowed me to schedule a time to shut off my wireless connection and turn it back on. This was a useful tool for saving battery life. Anyone have experience or suggestions with a similar Android app?

My top power button is completely stuck, out of no where, no drops or anything, just seems like it is stuck in its housing. I tried everything, banging on table, xacto blade and prying up but nothing. Just doesn't budge. Replacement will be here in a couple days.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for an app that enables one to schedule recurring downloads of specific files at specific times for my Xperia Arc. It's for my morning newspaper, which is in PDF-format.
Earlier with my ZTE Blade i used Samba Filesharing, mounted the phone on my computer and put the file on the phone each morning using cron from my computer (Running Fedora). But this is not an option any more, at least not at the moment, because I have not managed to root my Xperia Arc (unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com is down for "maintenance"), and Samba Filesharing requires root.
So, basically all i need is an app that at given times each day can download a specific file (always the same name) and overwrite the old file with the new without any interaction.
Is there any app available that can do this?
My application want to know the device is to be power off, so that it can send out the logout message to the server. How to do that?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy phone dropped from my pocket into the toilet. It was in there for no longer than 5 seconds. I took out the battery and tried to dry everything off. In a panic I turned it back on to see if it would work. I wasn't thinking at all. It started to turn on, then the screen flickered and everything went black. I dried it out properly and it still won't turn on. I've plugged it into the charger, nothing. Is my phone now useless? My mom says will not buy me another phone until the contract is up, in over a year. Is there anything I can do? Or did I completely screw myself?
If my phone is gone, can I still save my contacts and/or pictures?
Just getting the hang of this Motorola droid. Was doing something funky so I powered it down and then back up. I have this dos looking screen that says...

Today I dropped my HTC Hero on the ground from less than a foot above and when it dropped it turned off so I went to turn it back on and after multiple tries finally got it to the hold screen. When I went to pull down the hold screen to go to the home screen it went to the screen when you're turning it on that says "hTc". I immediately hit end and it goes back to the hold screen then when I pull it down it again it says that some of the applications, which I assume by their name is part of the phone processing, isn't working so I have to force it close. The weird thing is I still get my emails and texts and when a phone call comes in it says the Android application isn't working. Anybody know what is going on here?

I accidentally flashed my phone with the wrong boot image from fast boot ("fastboot flash boot boot.img"). I had a clockwork mod backup copy of my own boot.img, so I just wanted to reflash it. Fastboot said that the flash failed.
I tried again, and then in the middle of the process my command prompt stalled. Phone was in flashing process for about an hour, so I hit Ctrl+C to stop it... I wanted to do a recovery from the phone itself using clockwork recovery...
When I wanted to boot my phone there was no screen light. The phone just vibrates twice and that's all.
PC won't recognize it, so I can't go back to fastboot mode. Key combination (vol up + power) won't bring fastboot mode...This phone seems completely bricked...

Most of the callers complain that my number is switched off but I never power off my handset. I tried with another number and observed the same while my HTC Desire was in front of me and powered on. At times it does connect but most of the time not. I have full bars. I was using HTC Touch Pro2 earlier at the same location for at least 10 months now. Had no issues with network. Got my HTC desire 3 days ago and have this problem ever since.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there was an app or indeed if the Desire has the ability to transmit a low powered signal on FM?
You know how some Nokia phones can transmit a weak signal on FM so that if you are playing an mp3 or listening to an Internet stream on your phone you can pick it up on your car stereo and listen through that.
Is there an app that will remind you of when you favorite shows are coming on and or back on tv for the season and show you a schedule of them? I would love it if there was, that's better than constantly searching on my dvr.
