I just got the Nook for my bday yesterday and its pretty awesome. Already have THAT rooted too haha. Just on principle
One of the things that i factored into my decision between that and the kindle is the fact that the Nook is Android powered. Am I wrong in thinking though that if a non-Android powered e-reader (the kindle), has an Android application, then why the hell doesn't the Nook?
I downloaded and installed the Nook Android app from the Google play store. Unfortunately when I click on an ePub book, even one that I downloaded from the B&N Nook store, my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 displays an error message stating that it cannot find an app to run the file. If I run Nook first, I can open files by clicking an icon in its list of books. Unfortunately that *only* lists epub books that I downloaded from Barnes & Noble, not any of my other books. (I have ePub books I bought directly from Baen, for example -- no joy.)
I'm a complete novice with the Android O/S and have no prior experience with any smartphone or tablet whatsoever. I'm quite familiar with Windows (up through 7) and several Unix/Linux flavors. Also somewhat familiar with MacOSX (but not iOS).
I've sent dozens of e-mails to Barnes and Noble support asking for them to make their ereader available for Android. I couldn't understand what was taking so long, since the nook is an Android device (that has, in fact, been rooted!).Finally, it's here and available in the Market: nook for Android - Barnes*&*Noble.I posted this thread before downloading the app, because I was so excited that it's finally here. I have to say, it's HUGE --about 30MB, which is why I promptly moved it to my SD card (which you can only do if you're rooted and running an apps2sd compatible ROM or Froyo ROM).

View 2 Replies View RelatedRight now I have tried a lot of options to get my Nook Color running CM7 to get internet access at work (buggy driver on B&N that doesn't work with our EAP settings), and none of my alternatives are good enough.
I was running my own access point from my computer but then the telecom guys told me to turn it off. Tried Bluetooth tether and that just doesn't work very well (it constantly drops connections).
So I want something seemingly very simple, but I can't find anything anywhere on how to do it. I want to plug my Nook into my computer and use that computer's internet connection. I imagine it can't be very difficult using ADB, but I can't find any information about it.
I have Arch Linux and Debian Linux at work.
I've been trying to root my Nook Tablet to CM10 unsuccessfully. I found this [URL]..... which led me to believe that downgrading to the 1.4.0 update would be useful.
I followed the link from this, [URL] ..... and downloaded the .zip and put it on an mSD. I proceeded to place it in the tablet, turned it on, and the update went through and my screen went black. After a minute or so I hit the power on button, and nothing happened. Nothing works on it now. I've tried hitting the power button for 20+ seconds then the 2 seconds, as well as the power + N button. The screen remains black. I can connect the nook to my computer and the power cable lights up, as well as when it's placed on the wall.
The Nook Tablet (it's a BNTV250) isn't turning on.
I would like to connect my Yamaha digital piano to my Nook HD (I currently connect the paino to a PC via Midi IN/OUT to USB cable which works fine). I thought that rooting the Nook and running USB Host Check would provide the answer but the apps I have tried (Perfect Piano being the most appropriate) don't recognise a device as being connected. View 2 Replies View RelatedI rooted my nook tablet 16GB to 2.3 first and then installed android 4.0. But now I really need to get it back to its original state because I need that microphone and other stuff working.
Anyway, here I am stuck on the CWM-Based Recovery v5.5.0.4. It wouldn't let me install any zip file that I put it on my microSD card. It also says that the image file is corrupt when I choose to install from the card.

I reckon that I have deleted all the data from partitions such as boot, system, cache, etc all of them. Hence, the Nook tablet isn't starting into any mode except the recovery mode of ClockWorkMod. How to restore the boot entries of a Nook 16GB tablet?

I use AppMonster now to backup certain apps like this, but is there a way to let's say, add shortcuts to uninstalled apps to the homescreen, and when you click them it installs them, and uninstalls them again once the app closes?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen testing my app on a device I go through several "installs", although it's really the Eclipse plugin doing this for me.After a while (not very long) the device starts complaining about insufficient storage.It seems that progressive "re-installs" eats away the phone storage even though the app being installed (presumably) is either removed by Eclipse first or at least overwritten.Interestingly if I use a task killer to kill everything on the phone (which I only use for dev purposes btw),the available storage indicator recovers and I can keep working.As I said, it's more annoying than anything as the workaround.well works, but I'm wondering if there is some sort of cache chewing up storage?More importantly, I'm a little concerned that the same may happen with updates from the Market?That is, the update effectively replacing the current version of the app but leaving an allocation of storage behind in its wake.

When I upload the theme to the android market and then its downloaded from the market and installed it installs as a .zip file instead of an .apk file. I have several other themes that are working fine. I have tried rebuilding it from scratch and the issue is still there. I have attached the android manifest.xml for reference.

Not that I would know how to actually pay those countries their taxes.
Do I in fact owe taxes to other countries if I'm in the US and selling software (apps) say to the UK? My company has physical presence in only one US state. For sales to US customers that typically means I only have to charge (the customer) and pay (the state) sales tax when the "shipping address" of the customer is in the same state that my company has a presence in.
But how is it supposed to work for sales from US to other countries, and where do we set this up in Google Checkout and how (if in fact we owe those countries their tax money) do we actually go about paying them?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI own HTC one X,(UK model). Recently my mobile started acting strangely. It is getting restarting often and on doing so, it itself getting formatted. And once it went to main menu, it is showing error as gapps. process is stopped working.
More than that once it got switched off, it is not getting turned on. I don no what happened to my mobi.
When i took to HTC service centre, they said that this is international phone and we don't have os for this mobile, so try outside for OS.
Previously atleast the HTC start up screen will get opened sometimes. Now not even that is getting opened.
I bought an android 2.3.6 phone which no one has tried to root( it seems). So I was wondering if I could root it by creating an update.zip file containing the su binary and the superuser apk and then installing it in the recovery mode. Will this work? I have failed with gingerbreak, unlockroot and z4root.

I put them in My Documents, but when I try to load them, it just sits there for about 30 seconds and then force closes. The woman on the other end of the line told me that, even when internationally roaming, calls are free. Not free except for data. As in you don't get charged. Even over 3G (since it doesn't work over WiFi). I don't think that she was right. Can anyone confirm this? I would have much less trouble believing this if Skype were enabled with WiFi.

I want to know if I turn off the "Data while Roaming" feature and put my phone into Airplane mode will I still be charged if I check my email and surf the web only when connected to a WiFI network. I am getting mixed responses from customer service whether or not I can bypass international roaming charges by doing this. I'm pretty sure I won't be charged when using my phone over wifi but I just wanted to make sure.

While my total downloads are growing steadily as they always have! I'm worried cause I know that active installs affect an applications popularity and mine is going to be dumped all the way to the bottom if this continues.So what's causing this issue? I still see through my server that new people are registering, so definitely the counters are broken or the numbers dont get refreshed. Has anyone had a similar problem?
