View 5 RepliesThe new DX and I love it. It's fast and great. I'm a heavy user so I'd like to conserve as much battery as possible. Is it possible to have the screen not light up when I get an SMS or a call?I'd like my phone to just ring without lighting up because I get tons of SMS for my work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been having a problem with my eris lately. About 2-3 times a week, while on the phone, ill hear the start up sound of my eris, still talking to people on the phone, look and the eris has restarted, but im still on the phone. eventually it will cut off the call and finish starting up....has anyone had this problem. I thought it might be a problem with one of the apps, so i reformated back to like new, and ran it for 2 days before it did it again. Thanks
View 5 Replies View RelatedOn one of the home screens or scenes, whatever, i had put the 30 day month view HTC calendar widget. it synced with the Google calendar just fine and there was a little triangle in the upper left corner of the box for the days that had an event. however, they only stay once i reload the widget. and after a little while they go away, but if i pick a day, my events are still there. i really like that the little triangle. how do i make it stay? is there another app or widget that will allow a full month view with the little triangle or similar mark for days with events?
View 9 Replies View RelatedTried doing a search to no avail as I thought I had saw something on this a week or so ago. I am new here and keep having issues with my Eris. I stopped using a task killer as different ones I have tried tend to eat my battery. At any rate things were fine until today when I noticed that when I click on manage apps and view running apps things like Ebay and MP3 music store are running after reboot. I have forced closed them and when I go back into view the running apps they are still showing up. Why aren't they closing? They used to before today.
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently whenever I plug my phone into the charger or a mini USB cable it won't stay connected unless I hold it there. Would this be due to the cable or the actual plug on the bottom of the phone coming loose?
I had this happen with an LG Chocolate before and had to get it replaced.
I know it turns off to prevent button press but when I go to press a number or end call, the screen either doesn't turn on or turns off immediately. So I press the power button, it turns on but immediately turns off.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is my work issued HTC Droid Eris. 100% bone stock factory everything, no root, no flashing, nothing (not even really sure what all that stuff is anyway). Yesterday got the phone off the charger, hit the power button to start up. Phone vibrated and the three skateboarding droids came up as usual and there the phone stayed. Pulled the battery, tried again and same thing, locking up on the three skating droids.
Next I did power+vol down. It goes right to the fastboot, recovery, clear storage, simlock menu. I selected recovery and hit power. Phone vibrates and the three skating droids pop back up for about 5-10 seconds and the I get a picture of a Droid Eris with a red triangle and exclamation mark over it. From this screen I hit power+vol up. This gets me the Android System Recovery menu with Reboot System Now, Apply sdcard: update.zip, Wipe Data / Factory Reset, Wipe cache partition. Down at the bottom, in yellow letters it says "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command" So I select Wipe Data / Factory Reset and hit power. "confirm wipe of all user data?" Yes, does it's thing for a couple minutes. "Data wipe complete" and Android System Recovery menu comes back up. Select Reboot System Now and hit power.
Now the phone reboots, white screen with three skating droids still locked up on that screen. After noticing the "Apply sdcard:update.zip" menu option I downloaded the July 2010 OTA from here. I put it in the root folder of my sd card and the selected "Apply sdcard:update.zip". It started the install from sd card and after just a couple seconds pops up and says "E:signature verification failed Installation aborted." So my phone is still locked up on the skating droids.
i am having an issue that just recently started.when i get a text message with an image attached i can open and view the pict but it only stays open for a few seconds then disappears.this is very frustrating.I never had this problem before it just started recently.I really like my phone, but my patience is running thin.

View 6 Replies View RelatedFirst, my specs: I have an HTC Evo 4G LTE, software, firmware is current. I am using a Plantronics M50 earpiece. The problem: I have it in a Sprint car dock while driving and I make a couple calls on my way home from work using my Bluetooth. It started about 2-3 wks ago. I'll start a call and while the phone is ringing on the other end, it goes silent in my ear and I can hear it through the normal ear speaker on the phone (speakerphone doesn't kick on). I have to turn my Bluetooth off then on again to re-establish a connection. Then it stays on through the call. It happens when I answer a call as well. Happens when not in the car dock too. It doesn't do it twice in the same call, after reconnecting the Bluetooth, the call stays connected. I have already unpaired the Bluetooth and did a simulated battery pull (battery is not removable) and hard reset to clear data then pair it up again, but it still does it. I have a feeling that it's not the Bluetooth, but something in the Bluetooth software in my EVOLTE.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with my Driod Eris. It's moving on its own, if I unlock the screen it starts to move to the left and stays there. I try to scroll over it moves back I press the home button and it does the same thing. I've tried powering down taking the battery put nothing seem to work.
View 6 Replies View RelatedAnyone else notice when you're on a phone call if you move your finger near the little dot to the left of the verizon logo the screen will turn off? It's annoying when multitasking because that functionality remains regardless of whether the phone call is the active screen or not. If you are watching the Google Navigation screen and you're on a call, move your finger near the little dot next to the verizon logo and the screen turns off.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is only a problem when I make calls which require entering a number to select an option(i.e., press 1 for...).I know the screen times out(?) when on calls normally and that it will light up again when it senses the call has ended, but if I have to see the keyboard to press a number to make a selection, pressing the power button to bring it up usually takes too long. By the time I get the screen up and press a button, the system on the other end doesn't recognize it. OR, I'll press the power button and it won't come up at all.

During a call, when I put the phone by my left ear, my ear and/or my cheek touch the screen, and though one would expect the buttons on the touch screen to be disabled during a call, when held against the ear and the face, I keep accidentally hanging up calls or in some other occasions, muting, having frustrated monologues to myself, thinking that the other person is ignoring me...
I mentioned using the left ear, because, it seems to have always happened when I held the phone by my left ear and not when I held it by my right ear.
I'm trying to find a more elegant solution, as dropping numerous calls is not an option. (today I dropped more than 15 calls). Any suggestions?
this is especially annoying when making calls that require number inputs such as voicemail. I'll try to type in my password or account number and the screen will go black. I hit the power button and I can maybe enter two numbers before it goes black again. I just got this phone and am pretty certain this wasnt an issue originally. All of a sudden this sprang up out of nowhere and I have no idea how to fix it. I did some searching and read something about the proximity sensor?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two questions:
1) Before the update, there was a sound that indicated when the call was ended. Anyway to get that back?
2) Has anyone figured out a way to change the end button behavior that was previously controlled by the Spare Parts app? I would like to end button to go home and then go to sleep but Spare Parts can't do it under the new software. Any ideas?
When you want to make a call - you press the phone button and the phone dial buttons pop up and on the top some names from the contact list. You can roll down to get the full list of contact names to select from...
My problem is that this dial list is too sesnsetive : it is enough to touch a name and puff it starts dialing right away. This way I started call by accident people that I did not really want to call. Can this smart dial be made less touch sensetive. Or better: an option when the phone will respond "do you want to call this person?" or something
I have an Eris and my recent call log on my phone displays my outgoing calls as Unknown even if they are saved in my Google contacts. I have the outgoing calls set to go through GV option selected on the phone and I'm not sure what's going on. The contact is displayed for a second and then reverts to Unknown. When I add the unknown number to my existing contacts it works and displays properly, but when I call the same number back from my contact list, it shows up as unknown. My incoming calls and missed calls all show up with the proper contact info, so it seems to just be a problem with my outgoing calls. Does anyone know what's going on or how to fix this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know if the new OS will allow for Bluetooth Headset initiated Voice Dialing?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIS there a quick way to enable bluetooth during a call? Now I have to jump to the home screen where I have a button. However, this is rather akward since I have to answer the call, then fumble with the buttons and my headset turning them on. Ideally, I would want the bluetooth to automatically turn on anytime I receive a call and automatically turn off whenever I hang up. And having a bluetooth button in the dialer gui would be nice too.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn the Captivate for AT&T, is there a way to set up call forwarding to my home number BEFORE I travel to another country? When travelling I don't want my phone to ring or else i'd get charged international roaming rates for the voicemail if one is left, so I need any incoming calls to go immediately straight to my home phone without the call reaching the Captivate while i'm abroad. While i'm overseas I use my phone for text messaging, no voice to save money. I do this with my Palm Treo Pro all the time when travelling, set up the network so that the call immediately gets forwarded to my home number.
View 12 Replies View RelatedAnyone else deal with this, I will use it like 30 seconds prior, lock the screen and go to pick it up and nothing, I have to pull the battery and reboot. Happens a couple times a month maybe, usually happens when I am actually trying to do something. I am currently running on Nonsensikal 8.8 but it did it on Ivans 1.0 and Nonsensikal 7.5 as well. It may have done it on the stock 2.1 rom as well, but I cannot remember. It seems to happen more often now that it is on Froyo though.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWe're designing an Android app that has several activities which are working in a wizard like way - user should pass from the activity #1 to activity #5 to get to the final activity (#6).
Since we know an activity can be suddenly terminated by OS on low memory we used Application class as a static storage for keeping the data the user inputs on "wizard" activities and other data our app needs for the whole session.
Unfortunately we've discovered this approach fails - looks like the Application class instance is also can be killed by OS (this was specifically discovered on Android 1.6 versus 1.5). Are our expectations wrong on this approach (we think Application class instance always lives for the whole app session)?
So the question is - what is the best practices on Android to keep data between activities deathes/restarts for the whole application session?
Can anyone help explain what this does? I did a small search around the internet, and it came up with just about nothing. My first question is: I turned mobile data off, and yet, during the night, I was charged for data, so something leaked.Personally, I thought if this was because of this particular function. But maybe it was something else. So, I turned it off, but around the forums for other androids people seem to think that syncing doesn't work as well with this disabled.Does anybody know what might have happened? And could this function have been the thing that caused the leak. The leak, was actually for only 50 KB or so, but because I'm on Page Plus, it caused me to go under the required balance to refill of $29.95 and caused my plan to lapse. It's important for me for this not to happen again. Can anyone give any tips?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSubject says it all.I've read posts here and other places regarding turning off "Enable 'always-on' mobile". I'm still unclear on exactly what this does. I guess I can figure it out by turning it off - and sending exchange and Gmail e-mails to myself to see if/when they arrive.
